Still At It

Even though you have left me I am still at it!  Ran 2.75 this morning and did my exercises.  All went well.  Drank water out of a new bottle!  Have a slight headache today but haven't taken anything for it and don't plan to.  Want to see what's going to happen.

Upping Mileage

I went to 2.75 miles today and hope to be at 3 soon after the new year.  Haven't run for the last two days so felt good to get on the TM and do it and even up the mileage a little.  Also did the pushups and situps so getting back on track after the Christmas break. Weight is up a little again though so have to start working on that now, too.  Stop eating those Christmas cookies!!!

Reno Wrapup!

Today (yesterday, I guess!) I half-heartedly ran and went to the gym. Ran 2 miles, just didn't have the spice in me to do more. And then I went to the gym and did about 3/4 of my usual stuff. I did end up taking sinus medicine again today. Ready to be over this!

Outside Run

This was my second "Dang is is cold and winter....I'm doing it anyway!" outside run. I kinda can't believe it and I give myself a pat on the back! It was about 37, so not too cold. But for someone who has lived in perpetual summer for years.....yay me! I did 3 miles around the lake, each mile was under 10 minutes. It was nice out there, not windy at all today. That helps make it a lot more palatable! I'm almost totally better. Bit of congestion left, but not much to speak of.

Another gym

I'm sore! I did go to the gym today and I could really feel that my muscles were tender. Was good, though. I cannot believe I forgot to tell you this but, yesterday, the sheriff had some workers (AKA: prisoners) out at the lake picking up trash. Beautiful day for those guys to be able to be out there - it was 61 yesterday! But it was funny because they were wearing those old fashioned white and black striped prisoner pajamas. Those just seem so....I don't know, like out of a cartoon! But I realize it makes a lot of sense to have them wear those. There was not a single question in my mind who those guys were, even before I saw the deputies and the sheriff vehicles. Glad today was not the day they had planned this field trip - it's raining. And tomorrow, oh boy, cold snap coming my way! Sam and I are ready! Bart comes tomorrow, so we'll hunker down!

I ran!

Yep. Also, it's possible I regret it. I maybe am not healthy enough to to run. But whateves! I did it and my time was great. My chest (lungs, I guess) felt very tight and thick when I got back. I think I have a lot of congestion in there. I choose to believe my run will help me loosen this up.  That's my theory.

I'm really glad I have this (and am getting over it) while I'm alone. But it made me realize I need to bring medicine with me on our trip!

I am better!

I'm not perfect! But I am sooooo much better! It's such a relief. I did go to the gym today. I have decided I'm going to stop doing my front squats for a bit. Something I do at the gym is causing my right hamstring (maybe my sciatic) to get irritated. I've really not wanted to admit that it is the front squats, but they might be the culprit. So I'll stop them for two weeks and if the problem persists, I'll add those back in and remove something else. Did I tell you my fitbit broke? It did. Replacement should be here tomorrow. I miss it so much. Feels weird to be without it! Went to the gym later than usual tonight and it's such a different scene. A bit busier but lots of dudes and lots of cologne!

Here I am!

Sort of! I have had sooo many days off. I'm feeling better today, although I'm not actually feeling good. But I went to the gym because I was going insane about it. I decreased from the weight I usually do and I also didn't do my full compliment of exercises. But I went. And that's good. I've lost two pounds being sick. Sounds great till I realize that's probably all muscle that's just turning into fat! Oh, also, my bluetooth headset is only working for one ear now. I thought that my other ear might be plugged but I listened to that bud in my "good" ear and, yeah, broken!

Still At It

I've been doing my 2.5 miles on the TM every morning and it seems to be going ok.  Plan to up the mileage a little next week.  I'm still thinking about that half marathon at the end of March.  I think I can be ready enough to do it.  Won't be a personal best but I don't care about that.  I want to do another one and finish and that's all that matters to me.

Back on Track

I hope!  The week in Whitewater didn't do me any good at all in the weight department!  And I was working hard every day.  Anyway, I'm back on track here this morning.  Ran 2.5 on the TM and then back to my 60 situps and 60 pushups.

I Un-Slacked!

I feel like I've been such a slacker lately. Consistency wise, at any rate. But I did get to the gym today and I did my usual gym weight lifting stuff (all of it) and I ran two miles on the treadmill. I wonder why the treadmill here seems like they've slowed the time down. Really, 10 minutes seemed like an hour! Actually, it's just mentally so much harder for me to run on the treadmill than it is to run outside. I don't know why. But I do know it's true. Can you believe I'll be seeing you tomorrow?! Can't wait!

Ouch!

My leg really hurts! Gonna really drug up here tonight. Ibuprofen to the rescue! I had a very running challenged day today. First, it was colder than it should ever be anywhere in the world! Second, I had a traumatic work day - my internet went out and I actually had to have a technician come out and fix it. Third, I had to work late! Forth, I was out of coffee and had to fix that before going to the gym. Fifth, by the time I got to the gym I was just soooo not interested in running. So I ran a mile and then walked 10 minutes. And did planks. Super healthy eating day today. Really good chicken in the IP. Have you made chicken from frozen breasts in there? That's what I did tonight and it turned out so great! Lots of vegetables, too.

Back to the gym!

Boy, it sure goes quick, doesn't it? I did not go to the gym for a week while I was in SD, and I could really tell. Felt weak! Skipped a couple of my usual exercises, because I didn't want to break myself. When I went to the grocery store today, I was so hungry. So I looked for a healthy snack. I saw a little container of macadamia nuts and thought I could eat that on my way home. But then I saw that the container was 6 servings at 200 calories per serving! So not that. Then I saw a container of vegetable chips (beets, carrots, and stuff like that). That was 120 calories per serving - and there were 7 servings in that tiny container! So I had zero snacks today. Well....not true. I did have an apple tonight!

Another big run!

Went over to Lake Murray again today and ran the route that I suspect is 6 miles. Went well and I think I had a great time, if it actually is 6 miles. But if it only, say, 5 miles, then my time was meh! My hamstring is feeling very pinched today. Will take some medicine tonight! I'm without my scale here, so I won't know where I am weight wise until Sunday. Cross your fingers for me!

Still At It

But doesn't seem to be helping my weight though.  I seem to get on these plateaus and no matter what I do it doesn't make a difference.  Then, all of a sudden, I'm able to drop a pound again.  On a plateau now and I hate it.  Especially with tomorrow coming when I know I will have a piece of pecan pie.  Just one though.

Big walk

No run today but I did go on a big walk. Went to the lake again, so it was approximately 6 miles. It was a nice day out there. And it got dark. Glad I was done before they locked my car in for the night!

Yay me!

I ran 6 miles today! I didn't intend to when I started out but that's what ended up happening. I went over to Lake Murray and that is a 3 mile in/out route. First I thought I would run in for 15 minutes, and then head out. And then I thought I would run 3 miles in and then walk out. And then I just ran the whole thing! Went really well, can't say what my time was though. It was a good run and I felt pretty strong when I was doing it.

Another Week Done

Did my usual again this morning and will be taking tomorrow off.  I have been running, etc., every day but Sunday lately and seems to be working ok for now.  Have set a new weight goal and will start working on that today.  Ate everything in sight yesterday! So today I get back on track.

First Day At My Goal!!

Yep, you read that right!  In fact, 2/10's below my goal this morning.  But I have to be there about 3 days before I believe it's real.  It fluctuates up and down just terrible so we'll see what tomorrow and the next day bring.

Morning run and exercises going well so glad for that.  Right foot hasn't bothered me now for weeks.  Knock on wood.  So many things I don't understand and can't explain and that's one of them.  But I'm glad for it.

Gummy Run

Just one of those days where I felt slow and really worked for each mile. But I did it. My time was 30:29, so the way I was feeling was reflected in my time. But that's ok. I did it and I'm glad I did. I had another super healthy day of eating yesterday - and so far today! On track. I'm contemplating dinner at Laughing Planet tonight after piano. That will still be healthy and full of vegetables. We'll see though. My sleep has been so much better since I've moved here, in general. I have had a few days of imperfect sleep but I'm getting some really solid hours and a lot more of them. I was sleeping 4-5 hours in SD and I'd guess I'm averaging around 7ish here. I can tell the difference!

Gym Times!

More of the same! Not much of an update, I know! But I walked over, did my things. Walked almost home and then decided to go around the lake once. That was really nice. I was practically all alone over there. Ended up at the gym later than usual - still pretty darn dead. That horrible smell was gone today, though. Weight is looking good! I'll be back to "normal" soon and then I can start working on those five pounds. I think I dropped a lot of water weight today.

Only off my goal by 8/10's this morning!  Getting very close and not sure what to do once I hit it.  Not going to binge on ice cream I know that!

Good run on TM this morning and did exercises, too.  Upped both yesterday and went ok today.  Slept lat today though!  Didn't get out of bed until 7:50 am!!!

Another Run!

I sort of took the weekend off. Only sort of because, on Saturday, I actually went on a big hike! It was very fun. I was looking for Rainbow/Wonderstone Mountain. I didn't find it, but I got close. And had fun adventures while I was out and about. And I was exhausted! Today I went over to the lake and ran. It was nice. That's all I got!

Set Back

And it's all Mom's fault!!  She brought both lefse and brownies home from her lefse making party with the Divas on Saturday and she made me eat some of both yesterday.  That naughty girl.  Now I'm up 1/2 a lb this morning.  I didn't run or exercise yesterday either because I needed a day off so that didn't help either.

On the positive side, I upped my mileage this morning to 2.5 miles at a 1% incline and upped my pushups and situps to 60 each.

I am now 1.2 lbs from my goal so it'll happen soon I just know it.  Then what you ask?  I'm not sure at this point.

Getting Closer

Only 6/10's from my goal weight this morning!!!  Will have to get there and stay there or below for about 3 days though before I'll believe it's real.  I haven't weighed what I weigh now for 4+ years!

Di the TM and exercises again this morning.  Thinking tomorrow should be a day off but I am motivated to reach that goal weight so might run anyway.

Great run

I think I really need to update my garmin - I haven't plugged it into my laptop for ages! So I don't really trust the distance it's giving me. But I do trust the time! I did three trips around the lake today in 29:27! Beautiful day here, although it's pretty dry. No surprise there!

Gym

Hoo boy, did the gym smell bad today. No idea what the deal was. But I walked over and did my things. I am really feeling it in my back/shoulders tonight! Lost those two pounds that were tormenting me. So that's good. I've been thinking of dropping another 5. But I'm gonna play that by ear. I'd rather gain muscle than lose weight. So I'm just going to see what happens now that I feel like I'm back into a gym routine. Course, I'll be leaving for a week soon! Going to SD for TG. Maybe I'll bring my weights. I have been eating so many vegetables, it's crazy. And it makes me happy because I know it's good for me. Today I had probably 2 cups of cabbage, an entire bag of greens (sauteed, so like 1 tbsp!), and 1/2 of a spaghetti squash. Oh, and cherry tomatoes. I really want to get into a habit of eating a lot of vegetables like I did today.

Not Ready to Boast Yet but....

This morning the scale tells me I only have ONE pound to go!  I usually don't believe the scale either up or down unless it's about the same for 3 days in a row so we shall see what tomorrow brings.  But I am encouraged!

Sleep

I feel out of wack with this time change. Last night I went to bed at 10 and I got up this morning at 4. Day before was similar. I know it will smooth out soon, though. Just ready for that to happen any time now! All the same, I had a good gym outing today. Was able to do all I planned and I feel like some of this jiggle is tightening up again. I can really tell when I slack for a bit! Good think I like going to the gym. Exceptionally quiet at the gym today. Even for that gym!

Run and Walk

Really pretty day here today. 70 this afternoon! I did go for a 2 mile run around the lake. I had an appointment this afternoon, and I didn't have time for 3 miles. I did go for a walk after dinner tonight. Pretty again! Feeling a little bit sore from my gym yesterday and run today. Feels good!

Back on the TM

Just a little too cold and windy out there this morning for the old man.  So opted for the TM and did fine.  Have a plan to up my daily mileage to 3 by Jan 1.  Last week and this week I'm doing 2.25 miles every day and moving the incline to 1%.  Then a couple weeks at 2.5, 2.75 and then 3!  Gotta have a plan even if some things interfere with it.  I hope during the two weeks in AZ in January to be doing 4 miles.  Gonna try and get ready for that half marathon in Reno.

I managed to only gain 2/10's of a pound over the very bad eating weekend!  2.2 lbs to my goal.

Back at it!

Yesterday was a super busy errand day and I didn't get to the gym. Today was the opposite. Really calm, peaceful, and restful day and I did get to the gym. Walked over there, did my usual. Then I walked over to Walgreens and then walked home. Fitbit thinks I walked over 21,000 steps today. But I think something got out of wack with the time chage. I suspect it's including yesterday (I didn't sync last night). It also shorted me an hour on my sleep! Really good food day today, hopefully day one of being back on track. I think I've just had so many changes that I got a little off track. But I did great today and had a billion (approximate count!) vegetables! I see we're friends on Loseit now!

As promised, today was a gym day! I was surprised, it was pretty busy there today. Did not impact my ability to do the things I wanted to do, though. But good for them. Seems like they are trying to spruce up a bit. I did my usual exercises. I am feeling so flabby! Gotta get back into both my food and exercise routine. Which I am doing! Just takes time.

Walking Day

I'm so lonesome! So is Sam. I know because he told me about it at 3 am, 4 am, and 5 am! But I still slept until 6. 8.5 hours of sleep. I need another good night and I'll be back in business. Really focusing on getting back on my food track here starting today. I've been having too many snacks because I'm not eating right (enough) in the morning. Gotta change that to my old style and started on that today. I didn't run today, but I did walk around the lake. It was a really beautiful day! Only went around twice so I would have time to clean up before piano lessons. Tomorrow is a gym day.

We Are Slugs When It Comes to Posting!

But not when it comes to exercise!  I ran 2 miles every day while in Reno except for Sunday which was a day off and yesterday when I only went around the lake once.  Beautiful place to run and walk!!  And lose some weight, too!  Your scale was right!  I only have 3 lbs to my goal!!

I did my 2 on the TM here this morning plus my exercises.  We slept in until 8 am!!  You must have worn us out!  So, I wasn't on the TM until after 9.  Very late for me but I did it.

Another Gym Day

Before I forget, I didn't see Simon at the gym today so I'll call tomorrow about a week membership for you. Think Mom is interested, too? I did the usual at the gym today but I went later. Probably didn't get there till after 3:30 pm. And I just cannot believe more people do not go. It was even more empty than usual! So different than SD where I had to go right after work or it would just be a madhouse. Lots of good things about this city including the fact that it just seems to be so livable. I can actually do things at non-bizarre times! I'm kinda worried I'm losing my muscle, so I really need to get consistent with my routine again. It will happen!

Weird Running

I went out to run on Tuesday and actually had to stop before I got to mile 1. I had such a side cramp, I just couldn't do it. Went back out yesterday, got another stitch (just after mile 1) and realized - it's actually my diaphragm. I did finish my 3 miles but it was not fun and I didn't enjoy it. So I'm wondering: am I having to acclimate to running at such a higher elevation? I looked it up. I went from an elevation of 62' to an elevation of 4,500'. I'm going to be interested to see how this resolves and what your experience is. If this is related to elevation, maybe you'll have a different experience. Because you're coming from a higher elevation - so maybe it won't impact you like it is me. Or - maybe it's not elevation at all and it's just that I haven't been running as much recently! I did run with my Garmin and the outside (pavement) path is actually a bit over a mile. I'm super pleased to say that, despite my stitch, I did 3.01 miles in 29m 40s!

Some Good News

I seem to have come off the weight plateau I've been on for about 2 weeks.  Down a whole pound in the last 3 days so very happy about that.  Don't want to put any of it back on during our trip.  Now have just 5 lbs to my goal.

Been running every morning and doing my exercises.  Upping my mileage a little each week.  At 2.25 miles this week.

Again!

Same report! I went to the gym today. It was good. It was empty. Well, when I arrived. After I had been there about an hour, it began to fill up. I love being able to walk to the gym! I had a full on day of slack yesterday. Just really had no energy or desire to do anything - so I didn't! Back on track today, though. Super excited to see you! Oh, meant to tell you that I've been sleeping really well here. I think I've already told you that, actually. But it bears repeating! I had another 8+ hour last night! So happy about this fact.

A gym day

Good day at the gym today. Went around 11:30 and just did my normal full body weightlifting routine. Very empty gym again today. Easy to do my work and get out. Then I did one lap around Virginia Lake. I was kinda hoping to go on a hike today but it rained!

Gandy Marathon 5K

We did it!  Angie did a GREAT job!  28 minutes and something.  Mom and I weren't so happy with our times but we finished and got a medal!  (They had so many medals left over from last year's full and half that they gave them to this year's 5K finishers.)

Here I am!

Now, you may have been thinking, "I bet Julie is doing things but not posting." Well....you would be wrong! I actually wasn't doing Fitnatic type things! I just got very busy with company, tasks to do, and then piano meetings and lessons. But today I got back into gear. I walked over to the gym this afternoon. Did my usual routine of weights. Then I did The Stairway to Hell for 20 minutes. Then I walked home. It's interesting that my leg and foot have been very sore again since I've had a bit of time off. I really think the strength training I do for my back has a hugely positive impact on my leg and foot. Fitbit tells me I was 1 minute shy of 8 hours of sleep. Pretty good for me!

Same Old From Here

Been running on the TM every morning this week.  Foot was really bothering me during the night and still was this morning though.  However, I did my 2 miles and it seemed to ease up once I got going and the tylenol kicked in.  Bothered me yesterday some, too, and that's the first time in several weeks I've been so aware of it.  Maybe I'm getting use to it except when it flares up.

Heading to Whitewater tomorrow after church but staying in the other motel (there are only 2!) because it has a fitness center.  I called to make sure before making the reservation.  So I plan to keep running while gone.

Another Good Gym Outing!

Good gym again today! Walked over, it's a pretty enjoyable mosey. And the gym was empty again! Well, not empty. But I was able to do all my things, no problemo. So that was really nice. Just lifted my weights, did some ab stuff, walked home. Now I've been putting together a desk chair. Let me tell you!!!! Well, I can't tell anyone my assembly angst. It's best if only Sam knows. But it's built now!

First Reno Run!

I did it! This was my first run as a Renoian. Um...Renite? Whatever! I did it! It really took a pep talk to get out there. Change is hard and so I just had to get over that. Did three laps around the lake, which I guess is three miles. I will say this: it's a bit....stinky. There are a lot of ducks and geese over there and so there's a lot of duck and geese poo. But it isn't stinky the entire run. Just in two distinct (and little) spots. So it isn't a showstopper! I also did some ab stuff when I got back. I've been out of habit with food tracking/loseit for a bit, so I got back on track with that yesterday. It was just very very hard when I had everything packed and couldn't cook! But I made a meatloaf in my IP last night and build the recipe for that in the loseit app, so that is something I can track now. That said, I've been doing really good with the food choices I've been making and staying on track, weight wise. It made me happy to be able to 120 lbs on my new drivers license and not be lying about it!

Another gym day

I can really tell that I had some time off. Very gummy feeling at the gym today. Did my stuff, just didn't feel like I had a lot of strength for it. Suppose it will take a bit to get back in the swing of things.

Busier there today but not so busy I couldn't do what I wanted, when I wanted. So that was happy.

I walked there even though it was cold. Gotta toughen up!!

Lost Weekend but Home Now

I didn't do anything but walk while in Duluth for the class reunion but I did get outside and run 2 miles this morning here.  Very nice out.  55, sunny, slight breeze when I turned around to come home.  Not many days like this left for us I don't think.

Best news is that I didn't gain any weight over the weekend!  I didn't lose anything but I didn't gain anything and that's the best news.  I was kind of afraid to get on the scale this morning.

Hello Reno gym!

I did it! Today was gym day.  Little nervous, not knowing what to expect. But it turned out great. I walked over, it's half a mile.  Went straight to the weight section. There were 4 or 5 guys there. Small space, but we all got out business done.

Had one head nod and one person actually said hi. So that means we are bffs now, right? 

It was good, I am sore. And I was really glad to get back into the swing of things.

More of the Same

I'm running on the TM every morning and doing my exercises, too.  We have registered for the Gandy Marathon 5K on 10/15 so I want to be ready for that. I know I should be running outside but it's just a little too cool for the old man!  Will have to bundle up for the 5K.  If that goes well, I might also register for the Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot over in Lindstrom.  I've done that a couple of times including last year.

And I don't want to brag or anything....but....I have lost 7 pounds during September!  Counting calories using Lose It and no beer or wine since August 28th.  I want to lost 6 more and get back to where I was when I lost all that weight a few years ago.  The goal is in sight!

I haven't posted all week?

What's the matter with me?  I've been running every single morning this past week except yesterday when I walked that 5K walk in Balsam Lake.  Just haven't posted here obviously.  Sorry about that!  Most runs have been inside on the TM.  I did run outside 1 or 2 days this week I think.  TM run this morning before church.  Raining like crazy out there this morning.

Great run!

Really happy with my run times the past two days, 30 minutes! Yay! It's been a long long time since I have been at that pace. I haven't been to the gym for days and I won't get back there at this point. So I did squats and pushups yesterday and lunges and pushups today. I want to check out that gym on Tuesday, if I have time. Maybe workout on Wednesday. I'm hoping they will give me a week pass to test it out before I commit.

Outside Today

And just gorgeous!  60, full sun, little breeze.  Cool in the shade but very nice run.  I was going to take today off because I haven't taken a day off since last Sunday but it was so nice out.  Been inside on the TM all week but going outside now this week.  We are registered for a 5K walk next Saturday in Balsam Lake to raise money for suicide prevention programs in Polk County.  Same day as the Hogeland and Turner people are walking out there for the same cause in memory of Tristan.  Then we are going to register for a 5K on the Gandy Dancer trail starting in Luck set for October 15.  Been waiting to know what our Reno schedule would be so now that we know we can register for that run/walk.  My first real race since spring so looking forward to it.  Angie might run the half marathon that day!  She's thinking about it.  I hope to get back into good enough shape to run a half again next summer.  Foot seems to be doing better the last couple months.  Can't explain it but happy for it.

Good run

Had to talk a couple days off, I was so darn sore. I don't know if it is good to get so sore I can't walk! But I was in a lot better shape today and was able to run later this afternoon. Well, evening. And my time was about 31 minutes again! So glad I'm getting my pace down. Also did these planks I've been doing - getting a lot better at those, too! That's all I've got to report. Oh, my weight is staying down! But I ate at Crab Hut tonight so we shall see what tomorrow brings!

Running but Not Posting

I have been running on the TM every day this week but just haven't gotten around here to post about it.  Have upped my speed to 5.7 mph this week and going well.  Going to start going past 2 miles on Monday and see how that goes.  I use to run 3 miles every day and want to get back to that level.

I'm making some progress on my weight, too, and feeling very good about that.

Well, I sure could feel my workout today. I'm sore! My quads - ouch. I am actually walking funny! And it has not gotten better as the day has progressed. I need a hot tub! I did run today, though. Which was probably ridiculous! But I wanted to keep my muscles warm. I didn't think it was particularly fast but I did 3 miles in 31 minutes. So I was really happy about that. Also had a couple walks today - again, wanted to keep my muscles warm. I don't know that it helped! Probably a day off tomorrow, I have a doctor appointment. I forgot to tell you that gym owner Shawn introduced me to a brand new employee as I was leaving last night. And he said, "I was telling Stephanie (the new employee) that you are one of the top 10 people that I have ever seen really change your body at that gym." So that was neat!

A weak baby lamb!

That's what my legs feel like! A weak trembly baby lamb! Today was my last session with Shawn and it was leg day. And it was HARD. Super challenging. Lots of squats and lunges and fake squats and more lunges. I can only imagine what I'm going to be feeling like tomorrow! Well....sore! So that's my report!

Busy day!

Exercise and work wise! Even though work was super busy, I did get out for a run early morning. I am sad to report that my blue tooth headset ran out of juice before the 1 mile mark! It was a quiet run, let me tell you. I knew it was low yesterday and I charged it. Well, I tried to charge it! Clearly I didn't really plug it in correctly. Alas. I had to think actual thoughts while I was out there today! And I also went to the gym today. It was weird. They are painting the floor and so big sections are unavailable for use and getting to the available sections requires one to walk through a maze. But I did it! I've been really hungry the past couple days. And tonight I'm meeting Cindy for dinner. WATCH OUT! I'm gonna have chips!

Beautiful Morning Run

Just perfect out there again today.  I'm getting use to this so when it changes it will be a shock.  62, sunny, light breeze.  Just right.  Ran the 2 miles and did my exercises when I got home.  Felt good all the way around.

Went for a walk with Mom last night and I almost had to be running to keep up with her!  We "walked" 2 miles in 35 miles so close to 4 mph.

Good run!

Pretty happy to report that my run pace was decent today! 3 miles and my time was about 31 minutes. It's been a long time since I've been in that range. I went early so maybe it was the coolness. Maybe I wasn't all worn out yet. And maybe it's that I've been running less. But MAYBE it is that my muscles are helping me! That's what I am choosing to believe!

Updates!

I got behind.....again! Let's see - As you know, it took me a few days to be able to walk properly after the last legs day. I actually took Saturday off. I just needed a day to sit around and be lazy and cranky! So that's what I did. I didn't even try to get steps on Saturday! Sunday I did run but it was exceedingly late by the time I mustered the willpower to do it. Maybe 5 pm or so. Today I did a lot! I went for a run early. Maybe around 7 am. Then I did meet up with Shawn at the gym and we did shoulders and back. My delts are so weak! I really need to work some more on those. After we were done, I did some squats and calves. So that's my whirlwind update!

Run

Update on yesterday first. I went to the gym but I didn't do legs at all. I was still very sore. So just upper body stuff.

Today I went for a run. It was slow because I'm still sore! Finally feeling a lot less sore tonight.  Guess that means it's time to go back to the gym and sore up!

First Run In New Shoes

Bought 'em yesterday and tried them out this morning.  Went ok I guess.  Ran fine but didn't put my orthotics in them and just ran in them the way they came.  Not sure what I'll do tomorrow.  Right foot has bothered me some today but it does that sometimes no matter what so don't want to blame it on the new shoes.  Will try them one more day they way they came and see what happens.

It's me!!!

Yes, it's true! Here I am! I really think the allergy pill might be the thing. But.....I have thought I've had this mystery figured out before, so who knows. And it absolutely could be stress. I've had a good plenty of that lately. Today was a session with Shawn and the gym and it was very challenging. Probably the most challenging we've done. We worked legs and did supersets. Which means working one set of muscles and then working a different set and immediately going back to the first set of muscles. So I was always working something. I walked a little bit when we were done, just to try and loosen up. But I'm already feeling it! The gym owner is also named Shawn. He wants to go out for lunch with me and (trainer) Shawn before I leave. Super nice!

Getting Back on Track

Yes, they put me to work!  Sorry you haven't been feeling well and hope you are better by now.  I did run on Wednesday morning in Whitewater but then all I did was work all day long on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday morning.  My jobs were done about 2 pm on Friday.  Yesterday was a travel day.  But this morning I did go out and run my 2 miles.  Beautiful morning and glad to be home!  Biggest job today?  Going to make some tomato juice from my tomatoes!

I ran outside this morning and did the whole 2 miles without any walking!  Just like my last Montana run.  Feeling very good about that.  Not sure what the rest of the week brings.  Traveling tomorrow and don't know what to expect in Whitewater.  Staying at a Super 8 with no fitness center so hope it's not too hilly around there.

Treadmill run for me, too!

I had a treadmill run today, too. Went to the gym around 4.  It was hot there, too! Maybe a little cooler than outside, but not much.

But this morning it's because of the heat and humidity outside!  72 degrees at 7 am and dew point to match.  Our windows were (and some still are) completely covered in mist from the humidity out there.  Like frost in the winter.  So I opted for the air conditioned gym in my basement!

TM run this morning

Well, Cheryl, Devyn and one of his friends are coming down today to canoe on the river.  They have done this for several years now and I am their shuttle service.  They said they would be here by 9 am so I opted to run on the TM just so I would be here when they arrived.  Did my run, had my shower, ate my breakfast....then get a text from her saying they were running late and wouldn't get here until 10 am.  So, I could have run outside but the TM was fine.  Actually, a pretty good run.  I seem to do better on the TM than I do outside.  Outside always seems harder to me.  Maybe it's that first 4/10's which is all uphill!

Went for a 3 mile run here today, did the Kensington route. Wanted to go in the morning but there was a meeting that was supposed to happen and supposed to happen and supposed to happen. So I didn't go till 12:30. But, thankfully, it's pretty cool today. 75. So not bad. Recently I've been thinking about races again! It's been awhile!

Gym!

Today was a gym day. I went around 11:30 and it was packed. So I went back at 12:15 9r so and whatever class had been happening was done so there was parking and equipment available.

I have a goal. I want to be able to do 4 unassisted pull ups. Do you think 30 days is reasonable? Not sure. I did some weight assisted ones today. I did 8 @ 110#.  Then 2 sets of 4 @ 100#.  I'm just going to keep decreasing the weight each time.

Feeling Old!

Yesterday was a Shawn day and we worked on glutes. I don't feel broken, but I sure can feel that I worked. I learned a couple things that I'll make part of my normal workout. And today I ran. It was good. It was hot. I got really really really sweaty! It's 8 pm and I am really close to bedtime here!

Last and BEST Montana Run!

In the whole month we've been here my goal has been to run the whole 2 miles without any walking and, finally, today - on my last day here - I did it!  Pace was 11.07 so not the best but at least I kept moving and I'm feeling very good about it.  Also did my pushups and situps.  We are packing today and leaving tomorrow so won't be running now until we are in North Dakota.  Williston tomorrow night.  Then Fargo and then home on Friday.  Been away 5 weeks and both are ready to be home!

Great Gym!

Today was a lifting day - solo. It went really well. I've learned a lot of new things to do and that helps make it fun. And I'm pretty happy with my muscles! Hot again today but I mostly stayed in my AC. Well, I did get my 10k steps - don't ever think I didn't!

Here's my story

I ran Monday.  With the mosquitos.  Tuesday I didn't because I was going to help Ralph and crew lay sod which I did for about 4 hours.  Plenty of exercise there!  Then Tuesday night we had a huge thunder and lightning storm and when I got up Wednesday morning there was 8/10's of an inch in the rain gauge.  So - lucky for me - the road was way too muddy to even think about running which I never did anyway because I was so stiff and sore from the previous day's sod laying that I could hardly move!  Today, however, I'm feeling much better so I did go out for the 2 mile route.  The road was still muddy in places and when I moved into the grass to avoid the mud, the mosquitos found me!  One challenge after another around here!

Possibly foolish run!

Well, I feel fine. Now! I ran today when it was 85 and that was really hot! It was weird because I wasn't really sweaty until I got home and back into my AC. I ran slow and I considered walking home but realized that walking would just mean I'm outside longer! It always seems hotter in Kensington than Normal Heights. I wonder if that's because of the canyons over there? Just a funny thing!

Yes, I ran with the mosquitoes this morning!!  Never have I seen so many out this early on a sunny morning!  It's hard to make time when you are constantly swatting your arms and legs.  The rest of the week I will have spray myself with something or stay indoors.  So it was a pretty slow run today but I got something done anyway.

Painting Days and then a Run

I was scraping and painting on the garage on Thursday and Friday and that just plain wore me out!  So no running those two days but I got exercise.  Believe me!  I did go out and run this morning but it was slow because of the 100 mph wind I was fighting!  Well, not quite, but it was super windy and I was glad I had long sleeves and long pants.  No run tomorrow (Sunday) either because I'm leading worship in Hogeland and will have to get over there and get ready.  Worked on it this afternoon so feel ready to go.  We'll see!  Hope to get back to a more regular schedule on Monday.

Getting Warmer Here

It was 70 when I went out there at 8:00 this morning which is almost getting too warm for me to run.  But I did.  And had more traffic this morning!  Loren was following me when I got back to the house and I never heard him behind me at all!  Gotta turn the head phones down.  Not sure how long he had been trailing me.  At least he didn't honk and scare the hell out of me!  Then I turned a fan on and did my pushups and situps in the living room.

TIL!

Today I learned a new name for The Stairway to Hell! I saw one of my gym pals while I was using that machine and he came over and said, "Ouch, ouch, ouch, I hate that machine!" And I told him I like to call it The Stairway to Hell. And he said he calls it the Swearmaster! Super cute! That's what I did today - 30 minutes. Then I very slow walk on the treadmill for 15 minutes to cool down because my heart was really pumping! It's so hot! I was going to run but felt like I might burst into flames. Maybe SD moved closer to the sun today?

Afternoon Run

Maybe I should say it was an evening run! Just really busy over here, with work and with packing. So I finally had the time to run around 5:30 and I seized the moment! Then I did planks, which I'm getting a lot better at. I can hold them for so much longer than I could when I started. Bigger shoes seem good!

It's just perfect out there this morning.  About 60, full sun, no wind.  Great morning for a run north and back which is what I did.  Still can't get use to this altitude though so doing a little walking in the second half.  But getting better each day.  I'll be out there painting the wash house today because it's not supposed to rain at all!  Ran into traffic again this morning.  This time it was Jill Krass, wife of the man I saw yesterday.

Bedlam at RRSports!

Whooooooboy! I decided that I should have gotten my new shoes 1/2 size bigger. My left heel was really hitting the edge of the shoe weirdly. Uncomfortable. So I went over to RRS and they had ZERO parking! They were doing an adventure run tonight and I guess it was the biggest they've ever done before. I drove around a bunch but all those streets are no parking streets. So I finally parked in some business lot. I was glad to not get towed! Good gym time today. Just went and did weights. Not much to report on that! I've had lentils for dinner 4 nights in a row now. OVER IT. Time to get something else!

Two days in a row!

I have been able to be outside running yesterday and today.  Monday and Tuesday it was raining, cold, and windy but yesterday and today was much better.  So I did the mile north route and back.  Really the only decent road to run on here.  South and west are gravel roads and dangerous to run on that stuff.  East is that field road but the last two years they have planted the wheat crop right over it so don't like to run through that.  The road going north is pretty good when it's dry.  Mostly dirt instead of gravel but very slippery when it's wet.  So that's my route.  Big news!  I had traffic this morning!  Neighbor Loren Krass came down the road in his pickup!  Pretty exciting!

Catch Up!

Well, I see I haven't posted for a few days! So here I go! I had a good run on Saturday. I have a new music podcast that I've been listening to - house/dance music, so it has a good pace and beat. That helped my run a lot. Sunday I went to the gym. Did some new stuff I've learned, and some of my old lifting. But I used some new techniques and it made a big difference. Today was running again. And, tomorrow, gym. And my trainer!

Farm Running

I have been running every morning here except for yesterday.  I woke up at 3:40 am with the worst charlie horse I think I've ever had in my life.  In my right leg.  Terrible.  Stood up but couldn't shake it for a full minute.  Hurt like you know what.  Did go back to sleep but when I got up it was still hurting there and did all morning.  So I didn't run yesterday.  But every other day including today I've been out there.  Such a peaceful place to run here.  No people, no traffic.  Gorgeous morning out there today.  60, sunny, no wind.  Perfect.  They are predicting rain Monday-Wednesday here so I'll have to see how it goes.  No treadmill to fall back on here!  Also started back up with my pushups and situps here this morning.  Been off those for a week!

Ouch!

Well, that run yesterday loosened everything up. And by "everything" I mean all my aches and pains! I was sore all last night and all day today. I can really tell I worked out hard and did different things. But I did still go to the gym today, aches and pains and all. And I'm glad I did, I feel a lot better. Which seems weird! But I do. And I did some different things that I've learned from Shawn. Broke up my routine.

Run

I am sore today! Not broken sore, but I can sure feel it. I decided to go for a run - a slow one! And, weirdly, I'm more sore after my run than I was before. Not sure why that is, but there we have it. I didn't run until about 4 pm today. But it was cool-ish (so not burning hot) so that was OK. Went to the Farmer's Market and now I'm going to clean up and sit around!

Today was a trainer day. I walked on the treadmill for about 10 minutes before our appointment at 3 (he likes me to warm up). Then we did legs. Super challenging. I have a feeling I'm going to really feel it tomorrow. The weight room is upstairs and when I walked down them to leave, my muscles were quivering like a newborn foal! I slept for 10 hours last night! I was so tired I went to bed at 6:30 pm. Well, I think I was actually asleep by 6:30 pm. Didn't wake up till 5:30. Still tired! Going to bed here soon.

Overdue Update

I have been doing some running but haven't had the computer out and it seems too hard to type much on my tablet.  So, on Friday I ran 2 miles on the TM in the hotel in Valley City.  On Saturday I ran 2 miles outside in Glendive.  Sunday was going to church at 9 am day so I didn't run but in the afternoon we went to Lake Elmo State Park in Billings and walked 1.4 miles around the lake in 94 degree heat!  Yesterday I ran 2 miles on the TM in our Billings hotel.  Now this morning I ran 2 miles here on the Big Flat.  Had to do some walking in the second half however.  The change in elevation here always seems to affect me.  Running at 1000 feet at home and over 3000 feet here.  Takes a few runs to adjust.

Walkin in Memphis

Oh yeah, lots of walking! But I have done some "for reals" exercising, too. We have a darn nice (if tiny!) fitness center here.

Yesterday I ran 3 miles on the treadmill, using a 1%incline.  It was awesome except for that one time I almost fell off because I was screwing with my iPod.  And that one time I was almost done and decided to go faster. And when I touched the button it shocked the machine and it stopped! But it will worked out in the end - no injuries!

Today I went down and lifted weights. They have really nice dumbbells and a good weight bench that can be flat or at an incline. And then I walked in the treadmill (9.5 incline) for 20 minutes.

Both times I was all alone!

I'm sure starting to tighten up here! I'll be sore tomorrow, for sure. Really good workout today - upper body stuff. Delts, shoulders, pecs, triceps, lats, biceps. Then I did some squats. Cause you know me and squats! I learned a lot and look forward to my next session. And to MUSCLES!

It's hot again!

Wow, did I have a sweaty cardio session at the gym today! I had such a busy work day that I didn't run. It was after 4 pm by the time I finally got to the gym, actually! So very late, even for me. Did 30 minutes on TSWTH. It was challenging due to the heat. My FB and the heart rate indicator on the machine were the same! Saw my trainer guy today and said hi, so that's fun!

Home and Back At It

Took Saturday and Sunday off while we were in Duluth but home now and got on the TM this morning.  Kind of cool and very windy outside so just stayed in.  Also back to my pushups and situps.  Hope I can keep at all this while we travel and are on the farm.

Updates!

Meeting with the trainer was good! I'm going to do 3 sessions with him, and we'll see what comes of that. But I'm really looking forward to it. We didn't do anything too hard on Friday - well, I am a bit sore, still! I guess I should say it didn't seem hard at the time! I took yesterday off - didn't even get my steps. I really just needed a day of rest. Today I went to the gym and did my usual routine, nothing new. Did a bit of cardio, too. Not sure about my shoes, I'll have to wait and see how I settle into them. My heel hurts already so they may be going right back to RR!

Hot Run

I got some new shoes today! I went after work, so I was inspired to run in the afternoon even though it was hot. I was sweaty at first and then I was just salty! These shoes are pretty minimalist. I have been using insoles and heavy cushioning for years now. Going to try this and see if it helps my foot at all. Got them at RRS, so I can always return them! Also got some new lifting and running pants in their clearance section. My old running pants are probably 3 years old now and basically see through! Well.....I am worried that they're getting see through. So hopefully I've bought new before my paranoia actually became reality! Tomorrow is the big day! Trainer! I will be wearing new pants!

Chicken Little Here

Too cold to run outside this morning!!  It was 52 but very windy so windchill was -10 I think.  So I opted to find out if the TM still works and it does.  We had rain last night and my foot was aching this morning but I just ignored it and kept going and got it done.

Weird Gym!

Sometimes the gym is so odd! Today it was odd because it was another very hot day - and humid. I figured it would be empty, but I was very very wrong. It was exceedingly busy! And everyone was working hard - including me! I upped some of my weights today. I went from 20 to 25 of my barbell front squat. Someone was using the 20. But that worked out great and I'll keep doing 25. Until it's time to go to 30, that is! Let's see. Also upped the weight on my shoulder press and side raises. Very challenging and the last set was back at my normal weight. Upping the weight makes my other exercises more challenging, too, because my muscles get tired.

I ran!

Today was a bit weird! It was supposed to be almost 100 again, but it didn't get to 85, I bet. So pretty decent. I'm really glad, too, because it was so busy at work that I didn't get to run until about 12:30 or so. The cloud cover was burning away by then, but it still wasn't too hot to be out. Anyway, another day of health and exercise!

Hot Gym

Really hot one here today! I did go to the gym and lifted weights. And I got all the usual stuff done, but it was pretty darn warm! I was very very sweaty, no question about it. Hopefully tomorrow will start the cool down. We shall see. Don't know if I will get to run or not. Fingers crossed!

Well, dang, I sure can tell I took a week off! I went to the gym and it was HARD! In fact, I couldn't do all my tricep reps! My sets ended up being 12 / 11 / 9! But it was good to be back! I plan on running tomorrow, but we'll have to see how sore I am when I wake up!

Back in Business!

Had a good run here this morning. The "usual" Kensington route. It was quiet out there. I was used to people getting ready to run the Rock and Roll, I think. Recently, there have been lots of runners out. But they're probably still in recovery mode! Just chilling here today. Working on my (new!) class, actually. Which I totally consider work! I am doing it for them! Gym tomorrow. Massage today! Cannot wait!

Back on the Road

I went out there this morning and did my 2 miles and it went well.  Foot is fine today.  Cloudy and a little wind but it felt just right.  Also got back to doing my pushups and situps which I have neglected for the last week.  Feels good to be back at it.  Especially pleased that my weight registered the same this morning as it was a week ago in spite of all the festivities of the last week and the food and treats that went along with them.  So I could have had another one of those cookies up at Milltown on Sunday!

It was a little windy out there this morning.  Well, actually, it was a lot windy.  Glad I wore my long pants and long sleeves.  Temp was 55 so it was a cool run.  Going to be near 90 for highs though at the end of this week so I tried to enjoy being cold.  Good run and then I did my pushups and situps when I got home.  Fortunately, I didn't gain any weight over the weekend trip to Chicago so I was happy to see that.

Can you believe that I weighed 6 pounds more this morning than I did yesterday morning? Yes, it's true! I know it's water weight because I ate a lot yesterday. Oh well! It will go away soon enough! Gym day today. I got sucked into a "training session" which I imagine will be a sales pitch. But that's ok. I'm ready to start doing some new things. I'll go to that appointment the day after I get back from Wisconsin. Good gym. Hopefully I'll be sore tomorrow!

Yesterday and Today

Yesterday in Madison I ran 2 miles outside the hotel.  Perfect place.  Off by itself so no congestion and no traffic.  Gorgeous morning, too.  Today I got a pass and went to the YMCA to use their TM.  Ran two blocks to get there, 2 miles on their TM, and then about 8 blocks to get back to hotel just to add some mileage.  Very close to 3 miles altogether.  Then after showering we walked about 4 blocks to get breakfast and back to hotel.  Now we are going to walk about 12 blocks to the Frank Lloyd Wright house and museum here and then back.  And then we are going to a wedding and reception and dance!  Might sleep in tomorrow!

Something New

Really great gym day today - generated a lot of sweat! Probably cause it's really really hot here! I am pretty excited about my gym times today, I changed my squat from a kettlebell squat to a "front squat". With the front squat, I used a barbell. But I held it in front of me rather than behind my neck. I really think I was able to maintain my form. Super happy about this! It's really time for me to start increasing my weight with that, and this opens up an entire new realm of weight. And I felt a lot more stable, which is great. And then I did the rest of my usual stuff, but I did it in a different order. So strange that the same stuff can be more challenging just because the order was switched.

What a difference three pounds makes!

Boy, did I ever take the weekend off! I clocked in at +3 pounds yesterday morning! And I could really feel it on me. Which....you'd think 3 pounds is just a little bit. But I could really tell. I've been feeling very svelte and lean and, by Tuesday, I was feeling a little blah. A lot of this is just water weight, I'm sure, because I needed more water in my digestive tract to deal with all the food I was eating. I was already down a pound this morning. So I just need a couple more days to pull it back together. Today was a gym day. It was good - the usual. I really need to develop another routine! But this does work, that's for sure. I also walked to my massage today. It's over by the 7/11 on 30th. For sure got my 10k steps!

Boy, was I non-energetic by the time I ran today. Super crazy day at work so that's just the way it went! I was feeling like not running but I really needed a break and wanted to get out. So I did it. I am now listening to The Neverending Story. It's great so far. Have you seen that movie?

Remember Me?

Sorry I haven't been posting this week!  Took Thursday off because my foot was aching terrible in the morning.  Then poked myself in the eye with a twig on Thursday afternoon, went to Urgent Care Thursday night, then to our eye doctor in Amery at 9:00 am on Friday so no run Friday either.  He put a "bandaid contact" on the eye to keep the lid from irritating it.  Back yesterday morning and he took that off.  Eye is fine now.  Healed very quickly.  And no damage so very glad about that.

Anyway, I did run yesterday before going to Amery and again today.  Little on the cool side so had to wear long pants and long sleeves but nice once I got out there.

From an earlier post....our TSA interview was fine on Monday and we got our cards in the mail yesterday so we are now trusted travelers!!

You have had a busy week!  Youi need a day off for sure.

I did run although I'm sore today. I for sure can feel that I did something new with my back. Both because "that spot" is complaining and because my whole back is sore like it got a workout! Good run today. We've been having some cool weather (well....cool for us!) so it's been nice to run in. Super hungry right now but I have a dinner date so I'm holding off on having a snack.

Much Things Were Done!

Much! Today was a gym day but, all the same, I decided to run. Because my audiobook is getting real real serious! And I just wanted to listen a bit. So I ran and listened and it was good. And I did go to the gym. And it was good. I am starting to add some lower back exercises. Today I started with a back extension. I did 12, that's it. And I did not include any weights. I'm hoping if I really take the introduction easy, my lower back won't get mad at me. I have a theory that a stronger lower back my help my leg/foot issues. So I'm going to try. I think that starting really light and working up will be OK because that's how I implemented my shoulder exercises. I have kinda a bum shoulder and it caused me angst whenever I would exercise my shoulders. And then I'd quit because it hurt! So this time I started light (5 pounds) and just one 12 rep set. I'm now up to 10 pounds and 3 sets of 12 reps. No pain and no clicking in my shoulder! So that worked! I'll report back on how this works out!

I ran!

And I ran outside! Nice day here and had a lot of work stuff going on so it was really great to get out and blow off some steam. Not much else to report. It might be time to start upping my calories a bit. My weight is pretty low now (122) so I'm done with the dropping business. I don't want to go up in weight (or size, maybe I should say) but I don't want to keep dropping. Probably my trip to Wisconsin will be a good time to calorie up! We'll have much celebrating to do!

Another Perfect Morning

Well, maybe a little too humid but 60, cloudy, no wind.  Good run out there this morning.  Then my exercises when I came in.

I've had 2 days off here.  Ran Saturday morning and then spent about 3 hours on my knees in the afternoon helping Angie clean up her garden beds!  That was work.  Sunday morning I was so stiff and sore I could hardly get out of bed!  Then Monday we had to leave early for our TSA interview at MSP so didn't run yesterday either.  Felt good to be at it again today.

Catch up!

Much catch up posting to do here! I did all sorts of stuff this weekend but I was really busy and realize not that I didn't post! Let's see. Friday I ran at the gym. Boy, was I sore. I can't believe it, actually. But I ran at a 1% incline so I suppose that constant small incline made the difference. It was good. Saturday I lifted weights but I was very tired so I kinda took it easy. Sunday I found a yoga video on YouTube and I did that. Today was gym again. Back to the regular - no taking it easy!

First gym shower!

You know, I'm often confused by hotel showers.  They don't operate the same. How do I get hot? It took some tweaking, but I figured out the gym shower. Finally! I'll be an expert by Saturday!

Weight lifting day. Someone said "hey, slim."

Then I did some cardiovascular. Mostly to kill time because I couldn't come home yet!

On the Road Again

Good to be home!  Temp about 50 this morning and a slight breeze so I went outside and ran my 2 miles.  Gotta start upping that mileage soon here but went well today.  Sunny and bright and good to be out there.  Then my exercises when I came in.  Week off to a good start.

Still taking Tylenol twice a day and no discomfort in my foot.

Gym Cardio

I just really wasn't feeling a run in me today! So, after work, I went to gym and did 30 minutes on TSWTH. Back in the game!

Well, now, it's been quite some time since I've made a report here! But I finally got back to the gym today. I'm just feeling really really good and I'm pretty stoked, actually. I think we finally have this mystery about the headaches and tiredness figured out and I'm taking the medicine I need to take and I feel better than I have in a long long time. So it's really exciting! Anyway, gym today. Went really well. I made a new gym friend, Pedro! He does a bunch of.....I don't know what to call his exercise method. It's possibly called "functional fitness". Anyway, I do a lot of squats and today he asked me (first time we've ever talked) if I know about the pendulum squat. Which I did not! So he showed me and we worked together on that for probably 15 minutes. Exceedingly challenging, although it doesn't look like it. Cannot wait to do more of them. Tomorrow I will run - if I can walk! We'll see! Hope you're having an amazing trip to Iowa! Sure wish I was with you!

Rainy Morning

I had an little discomfort in my foot yesterday I think because this front was moving in.  It feels fine this morning though.  I'm back on the Tylenol, too, so that kind of surprised me yesterday afternoon.  But it went away so glad for that.

Summer Run

Well, not quite but it felt like it out there today.  Didn't look at temp before I left but when I got home it was 74!  Going to 87 later today they say!  It was almost too warm but I ran the whole 2 miles and, once again, had no pain in that foot.  It hasn't bothered me at all since that hour on Tuesday morning.  Still taking 2 tylenol at bedtime and 2 in the morning.

Gym Times

Good gym day today, the usual. I have upped my dumbbell bench press to 20 pounds (per hand). I've been doing all my sets at that weight for the last few visits. But it was really difficult today! Had a hard time finishing my last set, especially. But I did it. Just took a lot of concentration!

Outside Fun!

It was 55, sunny, and no wind so, of course, I went outside this morning.  And I ran 2 miles with no walking and NO PAIN!!  I keep waiting for "the other shoe to drop" but so far this Tylenol has really helped me.  Unlike Aleve and Ibuprofin, it has really helped.  I'm taking 2 when I go to bed at night and then 2 as soon as I get up and it seems to be helping a lot.  So, hurray for drugs!

Running on Tylenol!

I took two Tylenol about noon yesterday, two more at bedtime, and two this morning when I got up.  My foot was so much better by last night and this morning it is "almost" fine.  So, I got on the TM here and did 2 miles!  Very little discomfort.  So, now I am anxious to see how it is the rest of the day. I don't want to live on Tylenol either so will take as little as possible to get by.  I'll give it a week and see what happens.  You can only take 6 in every 24 hours but I would like to only take 4.  But I am encouraged at this point to say the least.

Glad you're keeping at it!

I'm glad you are keeping at the program here!  Can't say the same for me.  Foot was been terrible since we got to Iowa.  Weather?  Cold and rainy.  Don't know but it's the worst it's ever been I think.

Now, this afternoon Amy gave me two Tylenol which I have never tried before and it is much improved here tonight.  Still cold and rainy so can't be a change in the weather.  The Tylenol?  Too soon to tell.  Will take some more at bedtime and see what the morning brings.

Paul ran a full half marathon on the TM here this morning!!!  He is running one on 5/21 here in Marion and he is, obviously, ready.  Then tonight Carter just finished a full 5K!!  I am so happy for them both but jealous.

Running times!

Well, I know you saw my awesome new running shirt! I didn't run till this afternoon, and I think it really helped me! I know it did, actually, because I really didn't feel like running. But I opened that and knew I had to! Wore different shoes today and I didn't feel that big mass of numbness at the ball of my 4th toe. I can feel some.....well, something. In the toe now that I'm back. Different, though. So we'll see what tomorrow brings! I have this ab video that I was doing and then I stopped for a couple weeks. Did it today and seemed ok. Need to keep up with that! I think core strength really helps the back.

Gym times

For all my soreness, I did go to the gym today. Did the usual. I'm getting a bit bored with the usual! It's time to come up with another routine so I can spice things up a bit. Maybe I'll do one day of what I'm doing right now, next trip to the gym can be routine B. Switch off. Anyway, I did it!

I'm so sore!!

Well. My run yesterday went well but today I'm broken. Actually, that's not an accurate representation. Yesterday, as I was running, I could feel the numbness in my 4th toe. The toe itself but also at that location in the ball of my foot. Today I woke up with a heavy ache in my arch. My right leg is stiff and sore and, actually, so is the entire right side of my body, up through my shoulder and neck! I did all my stretching and I've finally taken ibuprofen. So that's disappointing. I was pretty hopeful that my shoes would alleviate this. Probably, at some point, I'll have to go to the doctor. But I'm thinking a foot doctor. Because the leg stiffness and pain that I have self diagnosed as an irritated sciatic isn't as intense. So maybe the leg thing impacts the foot thing but the foot thing is a different thing from the leg thing! Who knows! I do know that I'm still under my goal weight! It's exciting. And I'm feeling better than ever about my relationship with food. Much less controlled/compelled by food. It's a really good change and I imagine it is both a physical and mental change.

Updates!

I don't think I posted about my Saturday festivities, so some backtracking for that. Saturday I walked to and from the gym. Not quite 4 miles round trip. And not quite 10k steps, believe it or not! There was a beer festival going on right in the middle of El Cajon Blvd (it was shut down for an entire block!) and I figured parking would be tight. And driving would be at my own risk! So I walked. I was not into lifting weights at all! So I did the majority of my routine and left. I did 90% and called it good. Better day today, though. I did my full routine and did a good job at it. So that's happy. I plan on running tomorrow - finally! I've been keeping up with my stretches and have been feeling really good. But today I didn't do them when I woke up and I feel like I can "feel it" tonight. So back at it! It's not like I have a one hour stretching routine - I don't think it is even 5 minutes. Just need to make it part of my daily life. Well, my twice daily life!

Cold and Raining Here

So, needless to say, I opted for the TM and an indoor run.  Yes, I know what a whimp I am!  But I did my 2 miles and exercises and felt pretty good about it all this morning.  Foot bothered me last night but not today.  Can't understand it when the weather is so bad this morning.  And our scale seems to be broken because it says I am down 2 pounds over this last week.  Can't figure that out either!

Osceola 5K

We did it!  And we both improved on our time from the one in SD in February.  My time was almost 3 minutes faster at 34.08!!  I was amazed.  I was able to run the whole way except for about 100 feet at the 2 mile mark.  I was very, very pleased with myself.  And amazed!  Mom did very well, too, considering she just had an injection in her knee yesterday.  She was done in 52 minutes.  My right foot didn't start to bother me until about 2.5 miles and is aching some now but, still, I am very happy about this.

Gym Day

Well, every day has been a gym day lately! This was a weightlifting gym day. I did make it through all three sets of my dumbbell bench press at 20 pounds each. So I'm pretty excited about that! I think I'll do one more week of that and then try adding the 20s to my biceps curls. Pretty much that's all I've got for today. Going to walk to the store now because I'm behind on my steps!

Story of my Week

Monday - ran outside but with foot pain.

Tuesday - no run because Glenn was coming at 8:30 to help me with the deck which he did.

Wednesday - no run because I had to be in Lindstrom at 9:30 for an injection in that foot.

Thursday - no run because Glenn was coming at 8:00 to help with the deck.  However, it was raining and he cancelled after I had already showered and eaten breakfast.  Also still having some pain in the foot so either the injection yesterday didn't work or hasn't really kicked in yet.

Friday - won't be running again because Glenn is supposed to come at 8:00 to help with the deck.  We will finish by noon I am sure.

Saturday - scheduled to "run" a 5K in Osceola so we'll see how that goes.  Half walk, half run probably.

So hot!!

Are we ever having a heat wave. Over 90 on Sunday and Monday. So far we are at 86 for today. Hopefully we'll hold there, it is supposed to be cooler today with that trend continuing. Fingers crossed! I did go to the gym on Sunday and Monday, both! Sunday was a day of weights and 30 minutes on TSWTH. Yesterday I did cardio. It was just waaaay too hot to do anything outside. On my way home from the gym yesterday, I saw a guy running in sweatpants and a sweatshirt hoodie. With the hoodie pulled over his head. In 90 degree heat. Fool!

Outside But Slow

I've been outside now yesterday and today but my foot is really bothering me again so the running has been slow due to some walking along the way.  And it's not just the foot either.  Running outside is always harder for me than the TM.  Never understood why but it is and always takes some getting use to.  Then I've come inside, of course, to do my pushups and situps.  Not going to do those on the driveway!

I did call this morning and get an apointment with Dr. Redburn for another injection in my foot on Wednesday morning.

I've been working very hard on our deck so have taken the last couple days off.  However, I got back on the TM this morning and did my exercises, too.  About half way through my run I thought to myself, "Why aren't you outside?  It was 48 when I looked after getting up!"  Maybe tomorrow!

Gym Times

I had to take Tuesday off! I did something that either pulled or inflamed or strained my right hamstring. Not sure if it was an exercise, my shoes, or a combo. But I felt a lot better on Wednesday and was back in lifting weights. Didn't up my weight amounts, though. I keep meaning too...... Today I did 30 minutes on The Stairway to Hell. It was good. Got my heartrate up to 157!

Gym Day!

I had a slacker day yesterday, I was just really worn out. I didn't even try to get 10,000 steps. But I had a great night of sleep last night, and I felt really alert and refreshed today. I did get to the gym after work and it was really good. Just did my usual gym stuff. I was going to start upping some of my weights, but I didn't. I just wasn't feeling it. After the gym, I went over to Texas and walked that hill 3 times. No running, just walking. I listened to my Spanish audiobook. I'm on lesson 2!

Boo to my scale!

Well, grrrr, I don't know how much I weigh! I just got this scale, too. Got on it this morning and it was 129.something. And I thought....that seems wrong. Not like way wrong but just not right. Zeroed it. Weighted again. 129.something. So then I moved it. Because I don't trust it anymore after the +3 pound discovery. Moving it (by inches) gave me 3 weigh-ins of 127.8. Which seems more reasonable considering the way I've been trending but how the heck do I know? I could buy a new scale and find out I am really weighing 135! That's my rant of the day. Good gym time today. Just the usual but I took a few days off so it felt really good to get back into the weight lifting routine.

Rainy Day Gym

Rain on a running day means a visit to the gym and The Stairway to Hell. And so that's what happened today. I did it for 3o minutes. I was dripping sweat! So that is it - that's what I did! Tomorrow: weights!

My foot is much better today and isn't bothering me at all.  Go figure.  Anyway, I did take Ibu as soon as I got up but it wasn't bothering me so not sure I needed it.  But I took it and had a good run.

Ran Today

I got on the TM here this morning in spite of my foot and managed to get 2 miles in.  But I could feel it there.  Forgot to take our friend Ibu when I got up though and should have done that.  Guess this will be a one day at a time kind of thing.  Wondering about getting another injection but haven't called yet.  The last one in December didn't seem to help me like the previous ones did.  Maybe she missed the "spot."  I'll see what tomorrow brings and if it's still bothering me will call for an appointment.

Gym

Not much to report. I did the gym times again. There were weights. I lifted them. I was not there for 2 hours today! That said, I need to shake a leg and go for a walk so I can get some steps in! It is 3:30 and I only have 3100 steps! Much ground to cover! Fun news: I was under my goal weight this morning! I suppose I'll spend some time wavering up and down, and that's a-ok with me! But fun to see on the scale. Also, scale started out at +3 again! Had to zero it out.

We woke up to snow on the ground this morning!  And it wasn't an April Fool's joke!  So I opted to stay indoors and do what I normally do.  Anxious to get outside again though so sure hope the weather starts warming up here.

Big Gym Day!

Maybe I should say long! I was there for about 2 hours today! I decided to walk on the treadmill after lifting. So that added about 40 minutes to my normal lifting routine. Might need to up my calories a bit. I feel like the weights I'm lifting should be getting easier more quickly than they are. I'm trying to cut but still build muscle. But muscles need enough food to use as energy. I think I'll try adding 100 calories to my daily total goal and see if that helps me make some gains in the muscle department. We shall see! It was weird there today, I felt like I was in an alternate universe. I didn't recognize the majority of people there AND there were a lot of people there! Usually I know everyone by sight and there's like 10 people! Anyway, it was good.

I'm here!

Sorry for my lack of posting! I've been doing things but just not sharing!

Today was a running day.   I was so busy with work that,  even though I was dressed to run by 8:30, I didn't run until 1:30!  Thankfulky it was a cool day (by SD standards!) so running that late was fine

Gym tomorrow! Really am enjoying weightlifting.

Got on the scale today and was shocked to see I gained 3 pounds overnight! So I stepped of.   Waited.  Stepped back on.   No,  in fact,  I did not gain 3 pounds over night.   Weighed again just to make sure.   Must have stepped on it funny the first time.

Real Progress Today

I ran a full 2 miles this morning with no coughing!  That's really progress!  And then I did 50 pushups and 50 situps and I've been stuck on 25 each there, too, since being sick.  So, all in all, a very good Monday morning for me!  Of course, I'm not a Texas girl!

So Wow: Texas Hill Edition

I haven't gone over to Texas for a couple of weeks and decided to do so today. And I did a lot better than I expected! Ran up 3 times and I only stopped to walk once. It was about mid way on my second time up. I walked about 100 feet. How I went the third time without walking is beyond me! Then I walked up (and down!) three times. Because I wanted to get my 10k! Which I accomplished. So now I'm going to super chill for the rest of the night. Which is my nice way of saying it's time to be lazy!

Gym

Yep,  already another gym day.   Went well.   I've been doing some new arm things and am using low weights.   It's challenging,  though. I'm going to give it two more weeks to adjust to the new stuff,  and then I am going to up my weight for bicep curls and bench press  I'm at 15 lbs for each (using dumbbells,  so 15/each hand) and I want to up that to 20.

I did increase the weight I'm using for the goblet squat today.   I went from 13 to 18.  Not a huge jump but I could really feel it!

I have to say, I was feeling darn low yesterday and again today. Then, today, I realized......take a sinus pill! So I did around 12 pm. I only took one, though, because it keeps me up. I did feel a difference, though. So I'll take them again tomorrow if I feel the need. But, also, the gym helped me feel better, too. Must have gotten my blood flowing or some such. I did my new weight routine. It was challenging. I have a couple of things I'm doing with 5 pound weights. At first I thought that would be too little weight but the end reps of each set were really challenging. One of my gym nod guys told me I was looking "tiny"! I did use the hotel gym on Saturday. And we did so much walking. So much walking. On saturday I was at 19,500 steps! I couldn't believe it.

Back at it - sort of

I did get on the TM both yesterday and today but had to quit running at 1 mile because I started coughing.  Guess this isn't completely out of my system yet.  I do feel so much better than I did earlier in the week but not at 100% yet.  So I will just keep at it until I get fully back on track.

Slow run

Oh, did I ever wait till it was too hot to run! I mean.....I've run in hotter! But it was just a little bit toast to run at my best. Also, I am a bit sluggish from the gym yesterday so that's going to play a part in the sluggish feeling, for sure. But I did it! Not sure what I'll accomplish while in Vegas. Lots of steps, at the very least!

Seems like forever since I've been to the gym but I know it's only been a few days. I have a new routine I've worked out and I did that today. Not totally sold on it. We'll see. It will probably need some tweaks. Anyway, feeling better here and back at it!

Sick Leave

Good ole Mom shared her cold with me so I am taking some sick leave here.  I ran Friday but then this came on me Friday night and I'm miserable at the moment.  Hope to get back into it on Tuesday but only time will tell.

Gym gym

As in: at the gym. I like going to the gym. It seems more "for reals" even though I do the same stuff here! I did change one thing today. I have been doing body weight squats but today I went back to the Smith machine and used that for my squats. I added 20 pounds of weight. Time to start increasing the weight on my squats. I'm really noticing a difference in my leg muscles now. It's exciting!

Home Gym!

Home gym day today! Just didn't have time to get to the for reals gym. So I did the usual here. More of those split squats - super challenging!! But I like them. I was only doing 3 sets of 6 per side. So 6 right, 6 left - 3 rounds of that. And today I accidently did 12 on one side so I had to do 12 on the other! Went back to 6 for my last set though!

I almost went outside this morning (it was 53 here this at 7 am) but decided to stay in.  My excuse?  The driveway is so wet from melting snow.  The road is free and clear but didn't want to muddy my shoes!  So did the TM and exercises again.

I beat the rain!

I really debated running today but, ultimately, I did it to try and warm myself up. I woke up this morning feeling like I'd been hit by a truck! Very stiff and sore all over. We had massages yesterday so I'm thinking it just really loosened me up or.....I don't know. I can't understand why a massage would make me that sore but I really think it did! Anyway, I was thinking "I'm way too sore to run" and then I decided to just go really slow in an effort to get some blood circulating. And it did help a lot so I'm glad I did it. And I beat the rain! Finally, we did get rain. Well, it has been raining a bit over the weekend, but nothing impressive. Today it really rained. And we had thunder! Very fun! You know, maybe that massage hit me so hard because I've had such a stressful couple of weeks and I'm just full of knots and tenseness.

Great Gym!

I had a really good gym today. Just the usual stuff, although I did add in Bulgarian split squats. Exceedingly challenging!! I've been trying to do some lower back strengthening work but the things I'm doing seem to be tweaking my right lower back. I'm going to try some different things - well, more different things! Until I can find something that doesn't make that spot sore. Yesterday was dedicated to hills. I went to a small hill and ran up it as fast as I could (and down it slowly) for 20 minutes. Then I went over to Texax and walked that 3 times. It was good!

I did take yesterday off and we did go to Duluth.  So today I am back at it.  Did my usual and it went well.  Going to be in the 50's later this week!  Dare I hope I might get outside one day?  Time will tell.

Busy day!

Busy moving around, I mean! I went to the gym at lunch today - very few people there. It was a good workout and it feels different, more challenging, at they gym. Then I realized that my dumbbells here are about .5 pound lighter than what I use there. Not a huge amount, but it makes sense that it would seem more difficult after 2 or three of the lighter sessions. After work I went over to Texas and walked it 3 times. Got my 10k and called it good!

Good gym and run

Well, fake gym!  Sometimes, if I'm pressed for time, I pull out my weights and do gym here. Works out just fine, actually!

Yesterday I had a really good run with a good-ish time. I was really pleased about that. Wasn't 3rd place good, though!!

And now I'm going to play video game!

Wobbly Legs

Wow.  You take a week or so off from running and your legs just feel wobbly when you start up again.  At least they do when you're 68!  But I did 2 miles again this morning plus my exercises so feeling good about it.

Back on Track

Or "back on tread" as the case may be.  Got on the TM this morning and ran a full 2 miles without stopping or walking.  First time since leaving SD that I have run at all.  And my legs felt it.  Kind of "rubbery" by the time I was done but I did it.  Also 25 pushups and 25 situps.  I am starting back on my 3 days on and 1 day off cycle.  I like that because it means I am exercising 6 days out of 7 but not 6 days in a row.

Gym Saturday

Yes, another Saturday gym day!  It's so weird on Saturday!  I do like Sunday better for my weekend day.  But!  I woke up this morning and just plain didn't have the energy or desire to run.  But I wanted to get something in.  And I did!

I'm pretty excited because I'm really seeing changes in my body.  I'm for sure losing fat and I'm for sure gaining muscle.  Today I thought I could actually kinda see a quad muscle in the mirror.  But, no, I did not stand there and flex to test it  out.  I'm not THAT GUY.  Yet!

I've also been able to do my bicep curls with 15 pound weights, all three sets.  I've been working on that.  Also, I've gone from body weight squats and curtsy lunges to using a 13 pound kettle bell.  So lots of progress which is really motivating.

I'm also down to 131.6 pounds, which is super exciting.  But I'm learning it is true that weight loss is 80% kitchen, 20% exercise.  Which is kinda sad!  But having more muscle mass should allow me to eat more calories because muscle burns more than fat.  I won't be able to have a lot more, but more!

I'm making a super healthy dinner tonight - partially to offset my unhealthy (but totally awesome!) dinner last night!

Oh, also, I did walk on the treadmill for 20 minutes at a 9% incline.

Catching up!

It has been SO LONG since I've posted! But I've been doing stuff. And things! I've been running and walking and going to the gym to lift weights. I've also been watching my caloric intake and I'm really seeing a difference due to that. I'm down a few pounds for the first time in a long time and that's happy! Now I'm going for a walk!

Jump Start Your Heart 5K and other things

We had a great time on Sunday at this 5K run/walk.  We all did great!! And what a beautiful course and a gorgeous morning.  Just perfect.  Like San Diego should be.  And then the wonderful desert we had afterwards and the outstanding steak dinner that night!  A perfect ending to a perfect day.

I did my 2 mile route around the cottage again this morning and have just one more day to go before we pack up and head out of this beautiful place.

Good run!

I would say "great" but I have no idea how long it took me! I was using a timer and......well, it didn't work out. But I felt fast! So lets pretend that, for today only, I ran 8 minute miles. We can pretend. And dream! Glad I got out there despite the cold. I am happy to report that I didn't get hypothermia!

Morning Runs and Walks

I have been running or walking every morning since I've been here except for yesterday when I acted as a chauffeur.  I have a one mile route that takes me 2 blocks south of the cottage, then several blocks west to Balboa Park, 2 blocks north in the Park, and then several blocks east back to the cottage.  So, I've been running (well, mostly running) it twice to get my 2 miles in.  Pretty nice route,  Not too hilly and if I go after school has started at the Einstein Academy there's no real traffic on these side streets so I can run in the street rather than the sidewalks which are so uneven and made of concrete.  Anyway, I like it better than the way I was running around here last year.  On the mornings when I've gone walking I have gone in the other direction, north from the cottage and through all those little business areas.  Nice times.

My right foot is bothering me, however, so I don't know how it's going to go down the road.  I will just keep doing as much as I can do.

YAY!!! I ran!

I ran today! I don't want to jinx it, but I think I'm better! Today was the first day I've run since 1/11 - can you believe it?! I was sick for that long. Crazy. But I have been continuing to feel better and today I felt as though I had enough energy to run. And so I did! It was a good run, I did the Kensington route. Saw a house for and there's a ton of sidewalk work happening on my street. Busy times. My lungs did feel a little burn-y, so I'm not 100% quite yet. But I'm close!

I did something!

I did something yesterday and I'm really feeling it today! I went to the gym. Did a lot of the old standards and some new stuff I've been reading about. And I'm all kinds of sore today! Today I've been reading up on squats. I like doing them and they are really good for us and I want to do more. Not sure what I'll do today, if anything. I'm still not feeling 100% so I don't want to overdo. Maybe I'll go for a health walk later.

Finally!

I ran today. First time since I've been back. My calves are so sore still from one of my gym exercises. But I did it. 3 miles on the Kensington route.

I've Been Running!

I just haven't been posting I see!  Tomorrow is day 4 of my cycle so a day off.  Good thing, too, because I have to be at the clinic at 8:00 am to give blood for chlesterol check, etc.  Then we are going to Duluth to take Grandma to lunch at Red Lobster.  I'll have to exercise after that I suppose.

Hello gym!

Well, it sure was busy at the gym today! And I didn't recognize a single person there, except for the employees. Lots of new faces. Literally lots! There must have been......10 people there today! Maybe 15. So still not actually busy, but busier! And I hope every single new person sticks with it and comes to love the gym! I did get all my exercises done today although I did have to modify the order in which I did them. Because busy! But that's ok. I didn't do any cardio. I did do one new exercise that Jessica told me about today. It's called the plank jack....or something like that! I got back on the TM this morning and my right foot was fine.  So yesterday's injection seems to be taking hold already.  Glad for it!

Last Run!

Ah, today was it! So sad! But we will be together again soon and that is a very happy thing! Today I ran for 22 minutes. 5 pace. Did the incline step thing again, where I started at 2 for two minutes then did 3 > 4 > 5 > 4 > 3 > blah blah blah! It was good, felt good!

Happy New Year!

Well, hello 2016! So far, I'm darn impressed with the new year! It was a beautiful and enjoyable day. I just ran three miles on your most excellent treadmill. I started at 5.2 / 2%. Worked up to 3%. Then started increasing my pace. Which meant I had to decrease my incline! Ended up at 5.6% / 1.5 incline. I ran for 30 minutes. See you soon for dinner!
