Biggest run!

I put in the most distance I ever have today - and I sure can tell. 18 miles! I'm tired! The good thing is that I'm getting so much better about knowing how to give myself a solid post long recovery. Water, of course. But if I eat something right away, it really helps. I also stopped back home at my half way point to get my electrolyte beverage. So I was pretty hydrated during the run.

Had some pain in my knee post run. I will be taking tomorrow off. Or going for a walk. But no running. I think it is probably because I had such a terribly slack week with running and then - bam! - I surprised my body with a giant distance.

I've been eating so much garbage recently, I'm fixing that today!

GREAT Morning!

Not just a good morning. It's a GREAT morning! I walked one mile north and ran one mile home today! Without pain! No kidding. I hope, I hope, I hope. Have it on ice now and will continue the exercises faithfully. But, maybe, maybe....worst part about it was this head and chest cold I'm still fighting but I can live with that. Will have to see what the day brings and how it goes tomorrow but I am very happy about this. Hope you have a great day, too!

The hardest part!

Yep! We've both said it before and I bet we'll both say it again! Getting started can be the most difficult part about this business.

I had a hard time wanting to run this morning. But I got dressed and decided to just do a bit. And then I did 5.5 miles. And I really enjoyed it! But that beginning sure was tough!

I've really been laying off the pushups and abs, but it is time to get back into that stuff. So I did that this morning.

Then I did some hills at lunch. It was a beautiful afternoon. Pretty nice morning, too. Cold but with the promise of summer on the way!

Good Morning

I did another 2 mile walk this morning. Still feeling some strain in the right foot but not limping. No word from the Doc about MRI yet. I will call again this morning and leave them another message. And another perfect, gorgeous morning here! 68 when I left the house, sunny and no wind at all. Better than San Diego! Too bad it doesn't last all year though. Have a good day.

Good Morning

Good morning. What a perfect, gorgeous morning! I went for a 2 mile walk this morning and it seemed to go fine. Started out with a sweatshirt on over the t shirt but had to pull the sweatshirt off halfway. Every morning should be like this one! Listened to country oldies along the way. Have a good day.

Good Morning

I had a pretty good night's sleep (thanks to NyQuil!) and went for the 5 mile ride this morning. Another gorgeous morning out there. Beautiful. Some coughing along the way but I made it. I am certainly better this morning than I was all day yesterday so hoping it continues to improve quickly.

I did it!

Well, I did it! I ran 150 miles in 30 days! And, honestly, I'm as surprised as I am excited. When I made this goal I knew it was really ambitious and I would not have felt bad if I didn't make it. But for the last couple of weeks, I guess, I knew it was going to happen. And it did!

Ran my last 5.5 today. Well, I only had 4.4 for the goal but I wanted to put in a bit more.

I ran 5 hills at lunch.

Tomorrow? Who knows! Maybe I'll rest!

Close!

Well, tomorrow should be the day! I put in about 5.5 miles today, which means that I'm about 4.4 away from my goal!

Boy, I really didn't wanna today. My heart was not into it. But I'm glad I did. I did not run hills at lunch, however. Well, not quite true. I ran two!

It's hot here! 72 when I left the house for my bike ride! Did the 5 mile route. Have come down with a sore throat and sniffles and just couldn't face the hills on the 6 mile route! But a beautiful morning to be out there. Have a good day!

Running

I'm so close! About 10 miles to go! I put in a quick 4 today. Mostly I wanted to work out the kinks from my long run Saturday.

Week of Slack Payback

Today was my long run, and I sure could tell that I laid off the mileage the mileage this week. I did a 15 mile run, just like last weekend, but it was hard! The last five miles.....well, I really had to just continually talk myself into taking the next step! Part of it was that I got bored. And I was thinking of the things I had to do this afternoon.

Getting close on my goal! I've got 14 miles to go and it comes due on 5/26. I can't believe it, actually!

What the?

I don't know what is going on with me! Stress, I suppose. I've been so tired and it has been so difficult for me to get out of bed. This morning I apparently snoozed so much my alarm clock said "I quit!" I became lucid around 6 am and decided to just snooze till 8. So I did!


I did run at lunch though. I did about 4.4 miles. 10:11 pace. It was really nice out and a fun run!

I've been having work stress and I think that is why I'm so sleepy. I think my brain protects me from life by putting me to sleep! Thanks brain!

Finally??

Am I back on track? Not sure, but I did run today!

I had such a hard time getting out of bed this morning. In fact, I stayed in bed until 5:20. You guys really need to get your texting lives together. I texted Ang and she just told me to stay in bed! But I could smell my coffee and I hate wasting The Elixir of Life.

I had a good run this am - about 5.5 miles I think. 10:10ish per mile.

Then I ran some hills at lunch. Just a beautiful day.

What a perfect, gorgeous morning! Sunny, no wind, and 65 when I went out for my bike ride. Just beautiful! Took the 5 mile ride this morning and took Rhonda Vincent with me. Have a good day!

Rest

Well I just couldn't get off my butt this morning. I was gone yesterday from 8 am to 8:45 pm with a brief stop to change clothes in between. Go figure that I was tired this morning. I hope I'll walk tonight.

In the 'good news' department, yesterday I wore heels. I rarely do. But today my foot feels great! Really stretched out and good.

Something Different

Due to my 2:15 bedtime last night (this morning!!), I slept waaaaay in! Till 7:30. So no time for running this morning.

But! I took my shoes with the Nike+ to work and ran at lunch! Got in over 4 miles and it felt really good. I don't really like "city" running though, because there is so much stopping at the lights and I have to be much more careful and aware.

Back to the real times tomorrow. I am a little behind on my goal and I want to catch up. I'm so close I don't want to let it pass!

Up and at it but , then, I wasn't in LA last night! Did the 6 mile bike ride this morning and it felt like work! but, then, that's the sign of a good workout, right? Also my push ups and sit ups. Foot is certainly better today than yesterday so we'll see. Have a good day you all!

And food

So the other health issue I have is eating well. I just can't stand it. Too many cravings for j.u.n.k. Boo. But I'm trying and working harder at it than ever. I had my walk again today but tomorrow will be a day off I bet. My foot really hurts. I go to the podiatrist next week.

Dad, that is cool about your bike distance and time! Keep it up. That is really good for you too. Plus isn't the phrase 'I went six miles' awesome to say? I'll never say that with running.

Self Control

Well, today I started walking again after about 1 month of nothing. (Approximately 1 week prior to surgery I was just too sick and now it is 3 weeks after.) So I got a 'how to train for a 5K' website that I'm using. I figure I want to be consistent and using this may help that. But boy does it take self control to walk and not run! I was on the river trail today and the local marathon was yesterday so there were tons of sidewalk chalk motivations. "Run like the wind!" I walked thank you. Phew.

Not So Good Morning

I guess my running days are done. It was fun while it lasted but I don't see it happening again any time soon. I walked a mile out this morning (gorgeous morning here!) and decided to run back that mile just to see. Ran half a mile with some mild discomfort (nothing serious) until during one step I could just feel a "tear" down there. Really, that's exactly what it felt like. So I limped home and have it on ice now. I'm just going to have to accept the fact that this is the way it is.

Err

Err....that is what my scale says! So I either weigh too much or I've broken it! Either way, I need a new scale!

I had a great run this morning. Super enjoyable. Started out cloudy and dreary. Then blue sky by the time I was done. I did 5.67 miles at 10:02 per mile! Really happy about my time.

I did not do hills today because I did my speech! I'll email you about that, but it went really well!

Well, another busy day! Tomorrow I have to give my next speech and I'm a bit nervous about that!

Great run this morning. Just a tad over 8 miles. My time was about 10:30ish. Just a beautiful day.

The I did hills at lunch. Only 5. But, again, a beautiful day and wonderful to be outside.

Running

Morning to you! Late posting today!

I had a really great run this morning. I ran 5.61 miles in in 56:02 minutes. That means I'm back on track and ran at a 9:59 pace. Glad for that! I'm also over half way done with my goal! Cannot believe that.

I did the bands today too. I really have to get back into that. No running hills at lunch because work fell apart! Our email went down and, when it was finally back up, we had just a multitude of emails. SIGH.

Hi there. Back home on to the TM this morning. Foot is bothering me a little but I'm just ignoring it. Enough is enough. Walked 31 minutes and then did my pushups and situps. Off to work. Have a good day.

Biggest Run!

I had a giant run today! 14:19! That was my longest run yet - which Lance Armstrong confirmed when he talked to me on my Nike+! Really good time, too. 10:25 per mile. I am sad that the last 3 mile I did had a slower pace, but I'm totally happy with the fact that my 14 mile pace is about 10:30.

My big plan was to actually run 16 miles, but I'm just not physically there yet. I have to work on that a bit more.

I did a good job with my hydration during the run too. So I'm getting more professional at these long runs I think.

Tomorrow: day off!!!!

Runnin

Well, I did about 5 miles today and I really had to force myself. I had a busy morning (as you know!) and I didn't get to run until about 2. And I just couldn't talk myself into going another step. It was also pretty darn hot out, so I just didn't push it.

Worn

I'm tired! I'm already ready for bed, believe it or not! Going soon, for sure.

I use my phone for my alarm clock and I left it on my night stand rather then putting it in my bed. I was tired and forgot my habits! I did manage to notice it this morning but it was really weird - confusing!

But I got up, got it together, and ran. Good run but I had to cut it short. I did 6.83 miles and I wanted to do 8. But, wow, did I have to pee! I just could not do another mile!

Here is something really cool: I'm already 52 miles into my goal!

Late Night!

I'm just eating dinner and it is after 10! Busy night tonight!

For the first time in several nights, I really slept. Felt so good! So good, in fact, I didn't want to get up this morning. I snoozed until 5:15 but finally did get up. Coffee calls! I had a good run - a little over 5 miles.

No hills at lunch. Mostly because I'm a bit worn out!

After work I went to the North Park Farmer's Market. Dad, it has been sooo long since I've been to any Farmer's Market. I just have not been able to do it during the week due to school and the Sunday one in Hillcrest has turned into a madhouse! It is just so busy that it isn't fun anymore, if you know what I mean. The Adams Avenue Farmer's Market is supposed to finally start next Wednesday! That is really exciting!

Then Bart and I went to Costco. And I am taking an oral communication class right now and had a speech due tonight. Bart very kindly taped it and then we uploaded it to youtube and sent it to my teacher. This was just an introduction. My other speeches require an audience.

So, that was (or has been) my night.

Runnin Fool

I had a giant run today! I did 8.07 miles. And my pace was 10:14 per mile. It was a really good run and felt good.

I also did some hills. Mostly to get of the office.

I'll take it easier tomorrow!

I have a new goal for May and it is a tough one. But Nike+ is torturing me! This morning I was "on target" and tonight I am 1.67 miles behind! What the???? Oh well.

Still don't have my grade, so I'm exercising patience. I just want to know and move on!

Good Morning

And it's a better morning and I have no idea why. My foot hurt me all day long yesterday. Very frustrating. So I put the orthotics in my running shoes last night and wore them for 2 hours around here. Put them in again this morning and walked a full 30 minutes on the TM without any of the pain I was having yesterday morning. The foot is obviously not getting better without them so I decided last night to give them one more chance. I plan to wear them all day in my loafers and see what happens. They are not comfortable yet but guess you have to wear them consistently to get to that point. So, we shall see what the day brings.

Weird day!

I totally overslept today. I couldn't even believe it! I slept in - on purpose - on Monday. So I changed my alarm time. And darn if I didn't forget to change it back last night!

I woke up super late and really wavered about running. I just decided I was feeling too rushed, so I didn't. I also didn't run hills at lunch because I was so busy with errands - I wanted to get Carter's gift in the mail! You know, the important stuff in life.

Then I had "school" tonight at 6:30. It was an online chat. Pretty weird. Mostly because people treated it very much like personal chat. Unprofessional I would say, but I bet these are super young people. Anyway, we had that meeting at 6:30. So I left work smack at 5 PM and came home and went for a run! It was hard, let me tell you. It is almost as much work to talk myself into running at night as it is to run!

I did 3 miles and made it back in time for my "class"! Then I went over to Bart's and he fed me a really delicious and healthy dinner!

Hills!

I slept in this morning! Had my alarm set for 7 and didn't get up until 6:55 or so. Felt good.

I didn't run this morning. Just took it really easy. But I did a heck of a lot of hills at lunch! Jessica is motivated again so she wanted to do something at lunch. So we went over to my hill (yes, I own a hill!!) and did the hill! I did my 7 trips and then walked up and down with her. She has a new Nike+ which she set for one hour. So we walked up and down for an hour. Hot! I know I'll feel that tomorrow!

I actually ran for 15 minutes on the TM this morning and then walked for 15. Could feel a little strain down there in the right foot but not bad. Have it on ice now so we'll see what the day brings. Figured I have to start soon here if I have any hope at all of running that 5K on June 5th. Will let you know.

The Birthday Run!

Well, I had a great run this morning! I slept in and then just took it really easy in the am. And then I did a 12.43 mile run! Pretty exciting. I wanted to go further but I was really breaking down. Just wasn't hydrated enough. I'll do better next time. Anyway, it was fun. And it made me feel not one bit bad about having fried chicken for dinner!!

Have you ever had a massage? I feel so good after the one I had yesterday. Delicious!
