I had a good run today. Still a bit slower then I'd like, but that's ok. I was tired and I wanted to enjoy being out there so I didn't fret over my pace.
But I ran 5.56 miles and my pace was 10:18.
I've been adding distance on at the Kensington loop. It is fast, flat, and low traffic! And that counts for a lot!
I also won a big battle today. I was at the store, frozen pizza in hand! And I put it back. It was a struggle. But I came home and made a little burger on my forman grill and made some sweet potato chips. Good and healthy! So now I'm happy!
OK, gotta get my brain beauty sleep! I'm getting up at 5 tomorrow so I can study more. But I just can't absorb more tonight.

Long Run
I had a good run this morning - 7.71 miles. Pretty good but my time was slow. I think the average was 10:18/mile. But it was fun and enjoyable and that is what counts. It was busy out there, too! Lots of people catching up from yesterday I suppose.
I did hills at lunch today too. 7 of them, in fact. Back up to my old amount. That's good because it will help with my speed.
I really need to leave earlier in the AM so I can get back to my bands/pushups.

Ok, I'm all out of exclamation points now. I was reading in my journal that it was one year ago today that I ran 2 whole miles outside for the first time. And I was so excited to have done that. I'll be excited again, too, if and when it happens again.
Foot felt ok yesterday and still this morning. Feel a little twinge down there but it doesn't hurt. I walked outside this morning a full 2 miles. Was tempted to try running a little but just not going to do it yet. Will see how the foot feels without the orthotics for a couple of days. Didn't wear them yesterday at all and not wearing them today either. Wonder if they came with a money back guarantee? Ha! Opps...there's one more exclamation point.

I did it!
Well, you already know cause I told you! But I've run 100 miles in April! The coolest thing is that my goal was due on 5/2 so I really nailed it! I'm excited.
I ran just far enough to finish today because it was raining. Not hard, but enough. It was a bonding time for me and this other runner I see now and again. We were the only brave souls out there and gave each other a wave and a big smile! Anyway, I ran under two miles - maybe 1.85.
Then I did hills at lunch. It was dry but cloudy. Nice to get out.
Now I am getting ready for bed. It is early, I know, but I didn't go to sleep until 2 am last night! Geesh!

Quick Update
I'm tired and heading to bed. Just got home from school. I did not do well on my test, as anticipated. I did better then my classmates and I feel bad for them. Just have to kill it on Saturday! I have a study plan worked out.
Great run this morning, even though I did not sleep well at all. I couldn't fall asleep till midnight and then I woke up and just tossed a couple of times. Bet you anything I was worried about this grade I was getting tonight!
Anyway, I ran and it was good. 6.85 miles. My pace was 10:10/mile. I would have gone further but I didn't leave till 6:45 or so and I knew I was heading into a zone where I'd be late for work. Oh well!
Only 1.12 miles left on my goal!
Did some hills at lunch. Only 4 trips but I went to the bigger hill that I found.

Runnin.....
Cause it's what I do! I didn't want to do it this morning, truth be told. I was doing homework and I had to make myself get out there - it was almost 7 by the time I hit it! Slow run, too. Part of it is being sick. I was slow and it wasn't fun. But I think part of it is the cold medicine for nighttime that I've been taking. I had some last night and it just makes me sort of blah. Off it now though! Anyway, I ran almost 5 miles. 4.97. I was going to do 6 but I 1) didn't want to and 2) saw a pit bull off leash. That is when it is time to walk - at least when I was close to home!
I did run hills today and I did have fun doing that, I must say! I feel like it has been just weeks since I've done that. Good times.
I am only got about 8 miles left on my goal! 100 miles in a month! It actually ends on 5/2 because of when I started it - even though I call it my April goal.

Sunday Run
I decided to go for a bit of a run today and I'm glad I did. It was really enjoyable. I guess it is the one thing I do for fun - it isn't work, I just get to do it when I feel like.
Anyway, I did about 4.25 miles, I guess. I didn't worry about my pace. Just kept it easy. Turned out I did about 10:30/mile. My knee feels better today. I think I just hit it too hard yesterday after so many days off.

Saturday
I had solid running times today! I was up at 5 - bright and early. And right after class, I went up to Lake Miramar and ran. I ran 10 miles. I wanted to do more but I could tell I've had a few days off. My hips just felt really tight at mile 7 and I decided not to push it.
As it is, I'm walking around like an old lady today! Probably, I'll take tomorrow off but I'll pay that by ear.
It was fun. I've been enjoying working on my distance a bit. Never thought I'd run ten miles!

Good Morning
Finally getting some rain here! Hurray!!! I walked inside on the tm this morning and it went fine. Wore the orthotics in my running shoes and felt ok. Wondering what the day will bring now. Have it on ice at the moment more as a precaution than because it hurts. It doesn't hurt at the moment. Listened to the Shrek soundtrack while walking and doing my push ups and sit ups.
Paul Smith came and got our bikes last night and is going to fix them up for us! New brakes and tune up, etc. My rear brake hasn't worked for years and Mom hasn't been on her bike for years but he insisted on taking both of them. So, I won't have a bike for the next week so will just be walking and hoping it goes ok. He use to have a little bike repair business in Osceola and still dabbles in it I guess. He volunteered to do this when he heard I was riding a bike with only a front brake! Nice guy.

Did it!
Finally! What a dry spell! But I was out this morning and I did it. I ran 4.36 miles and my pace was 10:02/mile. Much better then I anticipated - and much better then I tried to do. I just decided to go with it and not push myself. I'm still ahead of my 100 mile goal for April, but I've lost a lot of my pad! I was......oh, 10 miles ahead, maybe. Now I'm 3.65 miles ahead. I figured I'd be behind though, so this is actually a relief.

Not so good morning
So, the foot felt fine yesterday morning. Walked on the mill. Later in the morning it started to ache again and by the time I got to PT at 3 pm it was hurting. And she hurt me doing massage on it, too. So by nightfall I was limping pretty good again. Still hurts this morning. I don't understand, of course.
So, not doing anything here this morning. Only 31 out there and not gonna walk on the mill. This is getting very old.

Good Morning
Wish we could get some of that rain! Glad you are feeling better today.
It was only 35 here this morning so no bike riding today. Instead I walked 30 minutes on the mill and it felt just fine. Foot feels good this morning. Almost normal. Haven't worn those things since Sunday night and don't plan to until after I've been back to the Brace Place in Stillwater tomorrow afternoon. However, if the foot continues to feel fine today and tomorrow I'm not going to wear them at all. Beginning to think I don't need them. Doc ordered them "routinely" but I'm thinking it was a waste. Going to send the bill to her.
Took Abba with me today.
Hope you continue to feel ok.

Good Morning
Up and at it again. Did the 5 mile bike ride on a beautiful morning. A little cool (42) but not a breath of wind so a nice ride. Then my push ups and sit ups.
Didn't wear the orthotics at all yesterday. Could feel a little something in the foot most of the day but so far this morning it feels fine. Anxious to see what the day brings. I will be in St. Paul on Thursday for an Intern-Supervisor meeting so will stop by the place in Stillwater on my way home from there and see what's up with these things. In the meantime, I'm not going to wear them again.

I'm broken!
I had a really busy day and I'm tuckered out! First, I'm feeling a lot better. Not 100% but substantially better.
So much so that I rand 12.49 miles today! I can't even believe it, but it is true. My time was good with my mile pace averaging 10:15/mile.
Then, as if that was not enough (!), one of my neighbors and I went for a walk over into Kensington.
Bart and I relaxed the rest of the afternoon. And now I'm going to bed.

Sick
Well, as you know I'm sick. But, possibly foolishly, I ran this morning. It was a little over 4 miles. Funny, as I look at my stats my last mile was markedly slower then the others. Maybe I'm mentally impaired. I ran even though I didn't feel good. And I went to work and told Jessica and she said, "Julie, you displayed very poor decision making skills!" And I said, "Jessica, I just have priorities!"
But, probably, she was right.
Anyway, I also did my pushups. So I finished week two of 100 pushups.
I came home and I napped. And now I'm going to bed.

And it is a good morning so far. I think I may have turned the corner on this foot business yesterday. It didn't bother me at all yesterday. Not all day or evening. So this morning I walked on the treadmill (because it was only 44 and very windy out there!) and was able to walk the full 30 minutes without pain! Have it on ice now and will continue that plus the exercises, of course. But maybe it's on the mend? I sure hope so. I'm going to Stillwater later today to get those orthotics inserts, too, so hopefully they will help.

Long one!
I'm worn out! Long day and I'm glad to be home.
My exercise day consisted of "the usual". Ran in the morning - 6.2 miles at 10:03/mile. I thought my time was a little better then that but that's OK!
I did bands when I got home.
No hills - too busy at work.
I'm worried I'm getting sick. Sore throat and headache. Probably paranoia - Jessica is sick. I hope it is paranoia. I am sure it is. I demand it!
Good eating. Which means I'm totally hungry.
I never told you about my longer route! When I do the 4 mile, I do my usual route but keep running up to 35th (after my usual stopping point) and then turn around, run over the bridge again, then run back to 36th.
The 6 mile route is basically a double of my normal 3 mile run. Little bit longer.

Blah!
Well, I did my food diary today. And I'm at about 2300 calories. 2361 actually. Which explains A LOT about why nothing is happening on the scale. I bet I'm really eating about 3000 calories a day. Well....maybe. I just need to keep an eye on it. I really have not been trying with my food. SIGH.
But I did have a great run today! 4ish miles and my time was 9:51/mile. I think that is what it was yesterday per mile, too! And it was cold but nice out.
I have some Gaterade to take on my run tomorrow. It will be 6 miles.
I did pushups when I got home! It was hard. I might have to do those before I run. I think I'm too tired by the time I get back!

And it ISN'T ME!! It is the scale! I put the blame where it belongs!
How? How is this possible. I ran ten freaking miles on Sunday. TEN! Then, Monday, I didn't run. But I weighed myself. And I weighed 133. Then, this morning, I ran 6 miles. SIX! And I weighed myself. And I weighed 133.5! I was UP a half a pound!!!! HOW?
So, I think the scale needs to die.
But, I did have a really great run today! 6.25 miles and my time was 9:51/mile! I'm really really happy!
Then I did the bands when I got home.
No hills today. I went for a walk instead. I just didn't want to push myself too hard after a longer run.
And healthy eating. No matter what the scale says, I'm NOT eating pudding morning, noon, and nite. No matter how much I'd like that!

I did something!
I ran 10 miles today! I cannot even believe it - That is the longest I've run! Now, let me tell you, it was just as difficult mentally as it was physically. Around 8 miles was when I think I broke. I kept going, but it was really really challenging. My breathing was off, I had a cramp in my shoulder, I had a cramp in my gut. But I finished it! I was really watching my distance at the end. When I saw I was at 10.01, I stopped and I did not run a step more!
I really had to do a lot of walking afterward to cool down. And, I hate to say it, I thought I was going to vomit. I think I was super dehydrated. I stopped half way to get a big drink (Hm....source of the cramp!), but I really should have had water with me. I will next time I do a long run.
Gatorade solved my problem though! After I got home I forced myself to take a shower (forgot to rinse out the conditioner! I figure my hair will be extra soft tomorrow!) and went right to the store and got some. It helped a lot, so that is a tool I will remember to use.
My time was 1:43:28. I was really surprised that my pace per mile was 10:20. I thought it would be a lot slower then that.

Ready....
For a day off tomorrow! I have a running date on Sunday with a friend who is training for a marathon in early June so we are going to do a bit of a longer run. That means I'm going to take tomorrow off so I have some get-up-and-go on Sunday. Because my legs were like noodles today!
I had a good run today - slow again though. But it was over 4 miles. I wanted to stop at 3, but it was only psychological. I knew I had the physical ability to finish. So I did.
And I finished up my first week of the 100 pushup challenge. Just 4 sets of varying numbers of pushups. I hope I can do it this time. I think it was harder before because I was new at pushups. Now I have more muscle memory. And, yes, I just totally made that up!
And then I ran hills at lunch. Just 5 today - I didn't want to break myself.

Big Day!
I did a lot today - and I can feel it!
First, I went to bed way too late last night. I was on call and dang if it wasn't busy! But I still got up at 5 and I had a really great run. I did another 6 mile run today. It felt great and was fun. Beautiful morning, too.
I got a later start this AM so no time for bands.
But I did do hills at lunch. 5 rounds on my "old" hill.
Getting into fighting shape!

Upswing!
I feel like a different person from yesterday! I could eat. I could exercise. I could NOT throwup! Good times!
I did run this morning - little over 4 miles again. And my time was over 40 minutes again! Irritating to be off the 10 minute mile, but I'm more concerned about distance right now.
I did day two of the 100 pushup challenge today.

Just getting started.....
Can really be the hardest part! I didn't sleep much last night and when my alarm went off - yep - the negotiating began. But I decided to get up anyway and just play it by ear. I had a hard time talking myself into running, let me tell you! It was cold, dreary, and rainy today! But I did it - I had my iPod all wrapped up in a Ziploc baggie, just in case! Better to be safe then sorry. Again. That was a lesson I only had to learn once....I hope!
Anyway, I had a good run. A little over 4 miles. Very slow, but I'm OK with that. My body has to adjust to the further distances I think. The 6 mile runs are really different for me, so I'll take slow for a couple of weeks.

Good morning. Foot is still bothering me so I rode the bike but added a 5th mile this morning. Will just have to do that and be satisfied I guess. The exercises I'm doing and the icing don't seem to be making any difference in the foot at all yet. Go back to PT on Thursday afternoon so will see what I learn then. It was really bothering me last night.

I ran again today - slow and late, but I did it. I slept in until 9:30!! And I didn't get running until....maybe noon! I knew I was slow at my first time check point. I was already about 12 seconds behind. So I decided to just settle in and enjoy it! I ended up running 4 miles and my time was something over 41 minutes. I'm too lazy to get up and look right now!

Big Run
I've noticed I've been making decisions while in bed again! I've just been falling into the habit recently. This morning I had my alarm set for 5 but I woke up at 4:50. I decided I was NOT running and I was sleeping in till 6....probably 7. And then I thought "I thought you broke this habit of deciding things while in bed 6 months ago!" My decisions at that time are about as good for me as George W's were for the country! Anyway, I decided to get up!
And I did run today....a lot! I did a 6 mile run! I was contemplating it this morning, but it is hard to know how I'll feel after time off and such. But I did it and my time was really good, I think. My time was 1:1:51. Obviously off my 3 mile time, but I'm totally OK with that!
Based on my long run this morning, I did not do hills. But I'm going to put together a more intensive training schedule, I think. This felt good.

Good morning! +62 at 7:00 am here so very nice morning for a bike ride. I need to add a mile to the 4 I'm doing on the bike though because I was done in 20 minutes this morning. So will lengthen it out a little. Came up on 5 deer on the road this morning and they ran with me for about a hundred yards before they veered off into the trees. Kind of cool! Have a good day!

Training in the new shoes
Hi. I had to break down and buy new shoes today. Glad I did it. 100% difference in the run today. Ran at 5:00 and it was 80 degrees out! I know right! I only went the Family 5K route...mainly to break in the shoes and partly because my time was so limited.
Cool things that I am noticing include: I am getting less and less side aches. I think it's because I am working on my core...and breathing. Also, I can run and breathe through my nose a lot. My lungs are much stronger. My legs feel strong.
I did a 4 mile run yesterday which was hard for some reason. Not really sure why that is. Actually the last two days have been hard.
I am working up to 6 miles. Soon, coming soon people.

Good morning! I am so excited for you to be coming here! What a surprise! We'll have fun! I did the 4 mile bike ride again this morning. Went well and didn't hurt anything. Nice morning and +50 going to +76! Very weird weather but love it. Hope you are feeling better today.
