Long day....

.....but good run. Super long day. But I did run 5 miles. I left work to run and then went back when I was done. It was a good run and I am so stressed so the run really helped. And it's a beautiful day here. No headache tonight. But a bit this am. I need to call my doctor since the xrays are normal. Just need to figure out the next step.

Short Run

I only ran a couple of miles today. I slept hard last night, but not long enough. I was just tired, plain and simple. Had my therapeutic massage tonight and it was awesome. Work ruined it immediately. I see a negative trend in my life and that trend is work!

5 miles

Well, hello traveler! Don't worry, I'll keep the shop open while you're gone! I had a good run today. 5 miles. It was so cold that I was, once again, wishing for some running gloves. Why don't I just buy the darn things?! Anyway, it will warm up for the rest of this week. I really need to start weighing myself. I've been such a slacker with that and I was reminded that I really should pay attention when I was at the doctor today! They didn't say anything, I am fine. Just out of my personal comfort zone. Also, not bad news from the doctor. But irritating. I did get an xray taken (2, actually!) and there is nothing wrong with my sinuses. They are not weirdly shaped, inflamed, or cemented up. They're fine. My doctor actually told me (today and last time I went about this) that she thinks they are stress related migraines. Which I just can't imagine. I have an appointment now with an ENT doctor, but not until 3/5. In the meantime, she wrote me a prescription for these migraine pills. And this was before I had the xray! So she really didn't think it was sinus. She said that the same nerves can be activated, making it feel like a sinus issue when it's just not. On the plus side, I can stop using that neti pot now!

Good Morning

It didn't go so well but I did it.  Achilles tendon is really bothering me the last couple of days and seems worse this morning.  Maybe a few days off now will do me some good.  I'm back to wearing the new orthotics full time but it doesn't seem to matter if I wear them or not.  Anyway, this was my last run until I find time and a place in Israel.  Hope I can get a couple runs in over there at least but I'll have to see how the days go.

We're entering into yet another weather change here. It was kinda cloudy and windy here today and it's getting ready to rain. Not today, I don't think, but tomorrow. Anyway, it really was pre-rain windy but I ran and didn't get wet. WHEW. 3 miles.

Short Run

And on a day off! And a beautiful day! I ran 3 miles, but I sure wish I went for a longer run. But this sinus infection is really bothering me so I just did what I could. Then I had a very decadent and lazy day. I did crafting things, I read, I watched a movie, I played games. It was fun! Now to bed.

-17 here this morning so, needless to say, I ran inside on the TM!  Did my 3 plus the exercises.  Went well.  Now off to run some errands.

It's over!

78 here today! Just an amazingly beautiful day. Loved it. And it was actually too hot for running! Or I'm out of condition for heat running. That's probably more along the lines of the problem. I did run 4 miles. I actually didn't leave till maybe 12:30. Because I've started reading this book that is just so compelling. It is called Island Beneath the Sea by Isabel Allende. And I read last night and picked it up first thing this morning! So that's why I was so late hitting the road. I did squats and lifted some weights here today, too.

Sinus!

Well, it's warmed up. Which is awesome. It has been so cold (for us), as you know. And, yesterday, all that abruptly changed. And, just as abruptly, I had so much sinus pressure it was hard to function. I can't believe it! I was looking it up and I guess it's related to the barometric pressure. External pressure versus the pressure in the sinus cavity. It's better today but I've decided I am going to get a head xray, just to make sure I don't have some sinus issue. Because of those headaches and now this. Makes me wonder. I did such a bad job eating today because I took sinus medicine. Makes me totally not hungry! And I don't like that. I did run 3 miles. Another insane day, but I got them in. Just made it before dark, too! Yay 3 day weekend!

5r

Well, it's me! The posting stranger! Boy, busy past few days. And I'm still at work now! But I did run today, and I'm pretty proud of that fact. I left work and ran 5 miles. And it was really great. Absolutely beautiful out and so that was wonderful. And I just finished book 3 of this fantasy series I'm listening to and it was awesome and super exciting. And now I can't wait to start listening to book 4! Back to work!

New Scale but...

So, we bought a new scale yesterday.  A nice Weight Watchers endorsed one.  Blue glass, very pretty.  And it weighs in at less than the old one but not consistent.  Mom was .6 less on the new one and I was 1.4 less!  So, do we believe it?  Do we trust it?  Do we keep it?  These are the questions we are pondering today.  Always something.

Anyway, I got new shoes, too.  Asiscs, of course.  Bought them off the rack at Kohl's.  Ran in them this morning and seemed fine.

Oh, yeah, I did my 3 and exercises today!

New Scale On the Horizon

There is no way in hell I am up 2 lbs since Saturday!!!!  No way!!  So a new scale is on my list today.  I did my usual 3 miles and exercises and then got on that useless thing.  Or else the calorie counter I'm using isn't worth crap.  Not a happy camper about this.

On the up side, the Garmin foot pod worked perfectly.  I think I forgot to mention last week that when the Nike+ man tells me I have 400 meters left I upped my speed to 6 mph.  Did that all week and again today and will continue that for a while.  Going fine.  Still have the incline set at 1%.

Starting to wonder if I'll get any running done in Israel at all.  Gary says it's really hard to find the time without getting up way before dawn and you know how I feel about running in the dark.  I really want to get a couple runs in there though just to say I've run in the Holy Land!

7 Miles

Solid run for me today. 7 miles. Slow still. I need to follow through with my plan of treadmill running a couple of times a week. It was so cold when I woke up! And it was pretty crisp all day, but it was good for my run. I may or may not run tomorrow. I really want to listen to my book! Late night, just home from the movies. To bed!

Good Run!

Well, tonight I'm feeling tired and worn. But I felt really good for my run today! I did 6 miles. Beautiful, if SD cold, day today. Blue sky with fluffy clouds. It was just me out there and my book is getting so good. So much drama! Can't wait for tomorrow. No melatonin tonight. I for sure think it's helping me sleep. I just think it's making me daytime tired.

Back at it this morning and it seemed like work today!  Not sure why.  I slept ok.  But I did the whole show.

Down 4 lbs this week!!!!  Counting calories again is really helping me stay on track and not snack.

Garmin told me this morning that my footpod battery is low.  Do I have to buy a whole new footpod?  That will be today's research subject.

And I walked!

I really didn't sleep last night. Very sad! I went to bed at 10 but I bet I was awake till 12:30 or 1. But I stayed in bed. And then I was up at 4. Hopefully I'll crash tonight! But I was really too tired to run today. So I walked. And, apparently, this was so unusual that two people stopped me to ask me why I was walking and not running!

Up and At It

How's that for a title?  Did my 3 plus exercises and all went well.  And down another pound so down 2 in 3 days now.  Just under 2000 calories registered yesterday.  It was hard to sit around here last night watching TV and browsing through the new Runner's World mag without snacking.  But I did it.  And I will do it again and again until I've lost this Christmas cookie weight!

Long day!

Or perhaps I'm old! Or maybe both! Actually, no, it really was a long day. I kinda knew it would be though. I went to work at 6 and then didn't leave till 7! But it was because of my car. So I figured. Anyway, I brought my running gear to the office and ran at work. About 4 miles. It was....OK. The little route I did is pretty fast and flat, which is really nice. But there are a bunch of loooong stoplights. Not nice. Oh well, I did it and I enjoyed it! XO! Hope you made it through your night and show!

Long day

And I don't have a car update for you! I went over to Pep Boys and there guy is out for a month! So I'm taking it to a place near work tomorrow. I think it's a fluid thing. When I go downhill the light is solid. Flat or uphill it blinks. I did run today. 5 miles. It was good but messy out. We had more rain last night so we are just a tad sodden. I have to figure out dinner here. I was going to make some beef, but it smelled so....weird. Not bad. Well, kinda bad. So, no. Not taking that risk!

Intermission!

Did you know that The Sound of Music is 3 hours long!? I was flabbergasted when I saw that length. But I watched it today and it was just wonderful. I cried several times, in fact. And I guess I didn't realize what a serious movie it actually is. Especially the last 1/4. Very stressful a few times in the end! Anyway, very lazy day here and I didn't think I was going to run but this movie actually had an intermission! So I decided to take the hint and take a break and go for a run. I did three miles. And it was really nice out.

Half Run

I think I'm still in Vacation Recovery Mode! I "ran" today. For about a mile! And then I walked. And that was very very enjoyable, actually. I just plain wasn't into the running part. Weird day here. So cold in the AM and semi-cool during the day even though we're having some Santa Ana times. So it's very dry. Anyway. I'm try again tomorrow!

Did it!

It was pretty cold (for SD!) again this morning and so I went to work early. I like this thing I'm doing now where I'm working a split shift. So I go to work till 12 or 1, come home, run, work for a couple more hours. Anyway, good run. Although I didn't feel very energetic. From that perspective, it was difficult. I didn't eat enough, I think. But I am happy to report that I ate no sweets today! Hopefully this is the beginning of the no sweet trend.

Back on schedule this morning and ran 3 and did the exercises and weights.  I ate sensibly yesterday and still am up 1/2 pound this morning!!!  Grrrr.....

I can sure feel that 1% incline in my calves! And Mom walked on the TM yesterday and didn't realize I had it set there until she was done!  Lesson learned for her.

Happy New Year!

And a new year begins.  I started it off with a 3 mile run on the TM and set the incline to 1%.  Going to keep it there a while and then up it to 1.5% and eventually 2%.  Also did all the exercises, etc.  I am now on a mission to lose 10 lbs in 4 weeks before we go to Israel.  We'll see how it goes but I'm now done eating Christmas cookies so that should help.
