Day Off!

Yes, I am making an actual stand alone 'day off' post! I didn't mean for today to be a day off. In fact, I didn't want it to be! It's very nice today and tomorrow is not going not be so nice, or so "they" say. And I have some work stuff that might slow me down the rest of the week. BUT. I've been doing a lot of running this week and I'm just a bit worn out. Also, work got busy and I have a meeting tonight. And I just realized......this is stressing me out! So I'm taking it off my plate. And I feel good about that decision. So that is a happy thing. And that's it. That's my report! See you SOON!

Another Roundup!

You know, every day I'm going to post. And each night I lay in bed and think.....dang it! I forgot again!! But here I am, today, not forgetting. And not in bed yet! So I'm counting this as a win, darn it! So, let's see...... Friday I ran - maybe I reported that! Saturday I went to the gym and I walked on the treadmill for some time (incline FTW!) and then I lifted weights. It was very very lonely there. They are putting in new floors upstairs, I noticed. Sunday - Run. I downloaded a different music podcast that is 180 beats per minute, it's supposed to help with pace. Let me assure you, it does help with pace! I was super pleased. Today was another awesome run with my fast beat podcast. I'm going to look through their posts and see what other 180 BPM ones they have. That's my report! Soon we will be reporting in person!

It started coming over me on Thursday and by yesterday morning I was socked in like a London fog!  Still socked in today so taking days off here. Hope to get over it soon! The worst part is that I won't get to see star wars this weekend!

38 degree run!

I did it again! Went out for a run today when it was 38 degrees. I thought it was going to be freezing, but it was actually really nice out there. I was happy with my pace, so that's really good. And I did some abs (planks) when I got back. Yesterday I ran, too. But it was warmer than 38! And I did some squats, pushups, lunges, and planks when I got back. Making progress! Just in time for cookies!

Catching up!

I've been meaning to post every day but.....I have not! But I have been running - 3 miles. And then I walk to get my steps up to 10k, although I usually end up going a bit over. yesterday I did not run or walk, though, because I had a dr appointment. Just a checkup. But just didn't get in gear to get that done. I did do squats, pushups, and planks yesterday so that is something. And I sure can feel them today! Not sure what today will be. Feeling like I have a bit of a cold, so maybe a day of rest. We'll see!

I'm a Terrible Poster!

I have managed to run some every morning here but nothing to brag about.  We are going to Duluth tomorrow and staying at the Super 8 (only place with any rooms this weekend) and they don't have a fitness center.  So I will be taking Sunday and Monday off and I'm ready for a couple days like that.  Hopefully, I'll get back in the saddle on Tuesday morning.  I do plan to run some tomorrow before we leave.

Cold run

I am absurdly proud of myself! I went for a run this afternoon and it was 37 degrees out! I told myself "That's practically 40" to help me get out the door. Really glad I did it, I don't want to be cooped up all winter, that's for sure! Really good run, best pace I've had in a long time. Probably was very inspired to get done due to the cold. Quick weekend update. I ran three miles on Saturday and walked yesterday (Sunday). Been listening to (yet another!) super good audio book. Almost done and I'll be sad when it's over. But, at the same time, I'm really excited to know how it will end!

I did something!

I've really not done much since I have been home. I've been busy though - just with "stuff"! But today I did go for a run. 2 miles. Was aiming for 3 but, man, those 2 miles were darn hard. Looks like we have some snow coming in tomorrow night, so I'm going to try and run in the morning and then maybe gym on Sunday. If I can walk! I have to remember that I'm restarting here!

Yep! Another run. Another nice day here and I did 3 miles around the lake. I also did squats and pushups. I told you I've been doing sets of 5. I think I'm about ready to up the quantity in my sets. Progress. Nothing planned for tomorrow since I'll be driving. I responded to your comment about the shoes. More details there, but I did order them online.

Another Run

What a beautiful day we had today! It was 45 degrees at 5 am! I was able to go out for a run this afternoon and it was really delightful. Pretty busy at the lake today. And I had 3 little kid running partners for very short periods of time! When I would approach them they would start running and then we'd run together for 30 seconds or a minute before they were done - done for that lap, anyway! But it was pretty cute. Anyway, I sure like mine. They are really different, though. And, yes, pushups are really hard! I've been only doing 5 at a time. Squats, 5 pushups, more squats, 5 pushups. 5 is about all I can do at once.

New shoes!

Got my new shoes last night and I took them out for a quite literal test run today.  Seemed good!  I suppose it will be a week or so before I know for sure.  This brand didn't have any formal running shoes but I love my walking shoes so much, it's worth the try.  These shoes sure looks like normal running shoes!

Anyway, good run around the lake.  Not much excitement to report out there.

Feel like I'm doing well with eating and finally getting back into my exercise swing of things.

Fun Weekend!

I had a good weekend of doing stuff. I finally ran on Saturday! I wore my new walking shoes and they felt good so I took the plunge and ordered a style that looks like they will be good for running. I'm excited. Really like these shoes, they're helping my foot so much. Today was a day of walking. Not inspired to run, but I walked around the lake 8 times. Seems like good exercise in my book! We were supposed to have rain this weekend, but that didn't come to pass. Lots of clouds just hanging out over the mountains, though, so we will see what next week brings to the table. Planning on going to the gym tomorrow. And going for a lot of walks!

Something different

I'm flying to Burbank this afternoon, so I knew I wouldn't have time to get to the gym. I woke up super early today (by accident, though!) and decided to do a mix of squats, pushups, and planks. So that's what I did! I can only do 5 pushups at a time - I am NOT like Super Dad!!! But I did them and felt accomplished! Wrapping up work here then will head to the airport. Tomorrow the music festival fun begins!

Another run

Another run around the lake today.  It was very pretty.  Maybe a bit cooler than yesterday.  Which is ok.  But it was very busy out there.

Sure am liking my new walking shoes.  I am considering getting a pair for running, even though I don't technically "need" new running shoes.  But these walking shoes are solving a foot ache I've had for years.  So....I love them!

Shoulders Better!

Both shoulders are much, much improved the last couple of days from those injections I got a week ago today.  I don't remember ever having shots in the arm hurt like those did and last as long either.  But I seem to be over it now and glad for that.

Still going to the basement gym each morning for a 2 mile run and pushups and situps.  Heading to Whitewater tomorrow for the weekend so will see how my devotion to the cause holds up!

Gym day

I'm still feeling post gym soreness, that time off really got me out of shape! But I went back today and did my normal routine, although still with the lighter weights. Did a little walking, too. Not as much as yesterday, though. Beautiful day here again!

Many steps!

Big day of steps for me today. I went for a run this morning but I also did a lot of walking after work. I've been listening to an amazing audio book (Children of Time) and was at the end. So that inspired me to go for extra walks. Absolutely beautiful day here today. I feel lucky to live here!

Run and Push Ups

On the TM here today and probably now for the foreseeable future.  And I did push ups and sit ups today, too.  Have not done them since I got those shots last Thursday.  Arms are still sore but I managed to get 25 push ups done.  I don't know how long this lasts!  Didn't think it would last this long!

Gym Again

It sure was a beautiful day here today! But I didn't run, I went to the gym. Glad I did, felt good. Still did the lower weights that I did last time I went. It will take me a bit to build back up, but that's ok. Pretty quiet at the gym today. I do plan on having a walk here soon to enjoy this lovely evening. Did you see a beautiful crescent moon last night? It was very pretty.

I had a really good run today! Slow but, eh, that's ok. I was still a faster runner than everyone who did not run! I did 4 miles around the lake. Really pretty day, I thought it was going to be so much colder than it actually was. It was very nice.

Outside Run Today!

It was 52 out there and very calm so I decided to run outside this morning which I did.  Some walking but mostly running.  Beautiful and coming to an end tomorrow they say so I had to get out there.

Skipped the pushups today though because I got shot at the Doc's office yesterday (flu shot and pneumonia second shot) so both shoulders are sore, sore, sore this morning!

Now I'm sore!

Woke up feeling sore but not terrible. In fact, I was feeling pretty good. And it was a beautiful day so I decided to go for a run. And now I'm sore as all get out. I strongly suspect tomorrow will be a day of walking. But I need to make sure I get back into the gym routine so I might try and go anyway tomorrow. Otherwise, Saturday.

Another beautiful day!

Another really nice day here (only the day!  Night is very brrrrrr!) and I ran on the lake path.  Not too busy, maybe because I ran at 10 or so and everyone was still at work.

Been running in some new shoes and like them.  More structure than my Nikes.  But they are cut just right to allow rocks to get flung in around the ankles.  That I do not like!

TM again

It's going to be gorgeous here today but only 41 this morning so I ran on the TM again.  My problem is that if I don't do this first thing in the morning, it gets lost in the rest of the day.  I know you like to run mid day or afternoon but I just can't seem to do that.  So I'm glad we have this TM here.

Walking Day

No running today, but I did walk. Two days in a row after being a giant slacker meant I really just was ready to walk. Beautiful evening here, too, so it was a really delightful walk. Hope to be back to running tomorrow. It's too early to train for the half, so I'm going to call it "pre-training-training"!

Ran Today but Not Tomorrow

I did my 2 miles this morning before going to church and felt good about it.  Taking tomorrow off though because I have to be at the clinic to give blood for lab work at 8 am.  Good excuse!   Twice a year this gives me a day off!

Another run

Finally worked up the courage to go outside and run around the lake. And I dressed too warmly! I was very toasty by the time I was done. If you've been checking my weather, you will know that we are getting darn cold at night but it's been really nice during the day. Toyed with the idea of doing 4 miles today, but I just got too warm. And I have some errands to run. Excuses, excuses!

Nice run around the lake today. Did three laps. And I stopped to sign a petition. Usually I stop for nothing. But this old lady started running with me and I heard the magic words, ".......Heller.......EPA......." Heller. That guy. Anyway, good run and probably will be more of the same tomorrow!

Back on TM

I had a terrible headache yesterday morning but, then, this morning nothing.  So back on the TM I went.  Had our first frost last night so too cold for this old man outside!  Wish I knew what was causing these headaches.  It seems seasonal which doesn't make any sense to me at all.  But it felt good to be doing a little running again today and some pushups and situps.

"Off" Since Monday

Remember those headaches I was having last fall?  Well, they have been back this week.  I did run Sunday and Monday but Tuesday through yesterday I just couldn't do it.  Now, today I'm ok.  At least for today.  So I did run this morning and it felt good to be doing something again.  I had an MRI last Dec. 27th and it showed nothing. Mom thinks it's "seasonal."  Am I depressed because winter is coming?  Maybe so.  Anyway, back on track today so we'll have to see what tomorrow brings.

Been running 1.5 miles for weeks now but upped it back to 2 miles this morning and hope to be at 3 miles a day by Nov. 1st.  Maybe!  Also started back with the pushups and situps, too.  25 each this morning.  We'll see how it goes!

I've been a bit of a slacker.  I have been walking, but I've only run twice since I've been home.  And haven't been to the gym at all!

Today was a run and it was good.  I'm sure feeling a bit sore tonight, though!  Tomorrow I'll walk and maybe be all crazy and go to the gym!

Good run

It sure has been hot here in La Mesa! Today we went to the gym rather than walking outside. I ran 3 miles on the treadmill and then walked another 2 at varying degrees of incline. So that was a really good day at the gym.

Doing Stuff

I have been pushing myself pretty hard here and it's time for a break! I ran the lake on Saturday, and then walked it yesterday. Today I did a local 3 mile run (my Fitnatics route!) and, as I was doing it, I thought, "Why am I doing this, I need a break!" So that will happen. Imposed, though. Getting up early for a push tomorrow so I won't have any running spice anyway. Probably will go for a bit of a walk, though. More of a mosey than a health walk. That's my plan!

We ran the 9th annual Fitnatics 5K on Friday, August 18, 2017.  Most of us were in St. Croix Falls, WI but Julie ran it from La Mesa, CA.  We all did great!

Good run for a sicko!

I cannot remember if I told you that I've been sick. It's a huge bummer but I'm beyond glad I got this after Harry Potter World! I'm not sure if I picked it up there or if I caught what Bart's mom has. But, regardless of origin, I am on the upswing! And I went to the lake today and had a really good run and then a walk. Ran about 4.33 miles (OK, not about - I know that's how far I went!) then walked the rest of the way. It was HOT! I think I need some new sunscreen. What I have now just doesn't seem to have the power I need. Looking forward to my Fitnatics 5k and I am sure you are too! And all your other festivities. Bart is in Vegas this weekend so we are thinking he will do his 5k when he gets back and submit himself to the team for consideration as a finisher!

Run / Walk

We had a really great run and walk today out at the lake. Thank goodness it wasn't too hot, it has been hot but cooled down. Anyway, that's my report!

Still At It

Been running every morning except Monday since we got home and doing ok.  Finally have run 2 full miles without walking the last two mornings so feeling better about that.  Not sure I can do a full 3 on Friday for the 5K but will walk when I have to.  Anyway, starting to make some progress again.

Many things!

I've been a slacker poster but not a slacker exerciser! I've been walking a lot, running, and lifting weights. So things are going well. Doing well with my eating, too, even though it's hard (as you know) when I'm not just doing my own food thing. Going out to dinner with Bart's mom tonight but I've pre-checked them menu and have a game plan. So should be ok! Diet is still going really well, although I was hungrier than usual today. I'll be over my "losing weight" calorie limit today but not over my maintenance limit. And I'm totally fine with that. Overall, the fact that I'm eating every 2-3 hours has kept me from going crazy and way over eating in the evening. Feeling lots better!

A Fresh Start

Now that we are home and plan to be for a while I am turning over a new leaf!  Went for a walk/run this morning and did some pushups and situps.  Plan to do it every day and increase the run and decrease the walk so I can do that 5K in 2 weeks!  Perfect morning for it and felt good to finally be back at it.

I ran here this morning but did some walking, too.  Just can't seem to be consistent any more.  Always something interfering with my morning routine.  I am going to try and run every morning until we leave next Monday so will see how it goes.

Super hot!

I am not sure how far I ran today but I do know that I ran till I thought "I'm so overheated, I might throw up!" At which point I stopped running and walked home! And it was only 88 so not SUPER hot. But too hot for what I was doing, I guess. Tomorrow should be a big walking day at Harry Potter World! Super excited about that. Going in tonight to spend the night so we can be at the gates first thing. Going to be really fun.

Weights

I forget how buggy the phone app is for blogger. So here is take 2 on my laptop. I tried to add some photos, and I guess the app cannot handle such a thing! I lugged my weights from Reno to SD and I am glad I did but I forgot how much more they weigh than they claim to weigh! I think it's the bar that adds weight. Anyway, challenging! And I did it. About to go for a walk now at the lake. Just ready for a break, for sure. Went for a 4 mile walk last night and that was about 2 miles more than I was planning on. I was surprised when I realized how far away it was and how late it was! Got home around 8:30. Weight is doing super great and I'm really thrilled. I love that my doctor has me doing this every 2-3 hour eating. Just small things but (like 2 oz of chicken breast and 81g of broccoli) but it's really kept me from eating boxes of crackers. Huge win in my book! OK, walk! Glad you made it to the farm safe and sound!

San Diego walk

Greetings from San Diego! Drove down yesterday and wasn't quite feeling spicy enough to run today but I did take a walk at the lake. Been running (driving!) around today doing errands. Going to walk over to Cindy's here in a bit.

My doctor has me eating every 2-3 hours and it's been helping me so much! Really goad I found this clinic!

Going to try and run or lift weights tomorrow. We shall see!

I ran!

Beautiful morning here so I did it!  Haven't run this past week at all since leaving the farm.  Pitiful.  This morning's run wasn't pretty or fast and not quite 2 miles but it's a start.  However, my right foot is just throbbing now.  Think this humidity is not good for the arthritis down here.  Also started back up with 25 pushups and situps.  Determined to get back in the groove here.

And a fire day! This fire closed 80! I could really smell it when I was walking home from the gym. Good gym day - pretty busy there. I'm feeling pretty good and rested today. I'd like to go for another walk but probably not a great idea with the fire and all the smoke.

Busy times here! Had a really awesome week with Bart, who went home today. Sam's been looking all over for that guy! We did lots of walking while he was here and also went on that really fun hike in Tahoe. Mostly healthy eating, too! Today I just did more walking but tomorrow I plan to run or gym. Probably gym. And walk!

Catching Up!

I wore myself out! I've been running and going to the gym and walking and, yesterday, I just was so hungry all day and really worn out. So I took a day off. Didn't even walk. Well, I did go for one little walk around the lake, but I didn't even try to hit 10k steps. Seems like that insane hot streak is over for now. It's been very nice, actually. Nice to be outside. I've been using a lot of sunscreen, though! Today is day 16 of the Whole30 diet I'm doing. Don't have much else to say about that!

Run

Got a run in today before it got too terribly hot. Less hot today than it has been, actually, so that's a very happy thing! Anyway, three trips around the lake. Know that swan at the lake? I saw it trying to kill a baby duck the other night! Had it in its beak and was shaking it and then dunking it and holding it under water. The parents were exceedingly displeased. Who knew swans were so mean!!

Beautiful Weather Here

We're having a stretch of gorgeous weather.  I'm running outside in the morning when it's about 60 and sunny and a slight breeze.  Just perfect.  Also getting back to the pushups and situps but not back to 50 each yet.  Hard to believe, I know, but I have put on a few pounds and need to get them off!!  So yesterday I started going for a one mile walk after lunch and after dinner.  See how long my resolve lasts!

Run

I ran today! It's been awhile, seems like. But I ran 3 miles. I left here at 8:30 and it was already feeling darn hot. So I'm glad I got out there when I did. I had a busy day today, so I had to run early. Guitar Center offered a free intro ukulele lesson, so I went to that at 10:15. Really fun! Then I thought the Gay Pride Parade was today, but turns out it's an entire month away!!! So I guess I thought I was busier than I actually was! Anyway, once I realized this I ran about a billion errands. I did make it over to The Hub for an iced coffee and a walk by the river. That was fun. It's so pretty here it almost looks like a picture.

Update

Today is Grandma's Marathon so I watched the start being live streamed on FB.  Not sorry I'm not there, however!  We had a couple a great times there, though, didn't we?  I see the half marathon started at 6:15 am!!!  Must have had to be on the bus at 5:00 am!  No, I'm not sorry to be home!

I have been running every morning this week now.  Mostly outside.  Gorgeous out there today.

Will be taking two days off now to go to Duluth for Grandma's birthday.  Leaving home at 7:30 am tomorrow and Monday in a motel so not planning to take my gear.  Need a rest!

Upswing!

I actually went to the gym today! Yep, it was hot in there!  And I noticed they have a do not touch sign on their thermostat. Made me laugh.  Anyway, did my gym Stuff, Also walked a lot today.
Have you heard of this eating plan called Whole30? It's pretty popular right now. My doctor suggested I try it. I' m on day 3. No grains! At all!  Along withthe usual no sugar, no dairy. It is just an elimination diet and then you reintroduce food at the end of the 30 days.  It's only been 3 days but I'm feeling really good. Although my sleep has been junk all week!  Unrelated to the food changes,though.  I'm not having it cooled enough in here at night.  Learning curve! Anyway, hope I make 30 days so I don't have to start over!

Not much to report here. I haven't been sick, but I have been tired. And I've been totally obsessed with the show I've been watching and that's really had a negative impact on my....doing of things. Cause I had 6 years to catch up on! Thank goodness they only had 10 episodes per season! Today I just walked. Hopefully I'll gym or run tomorrow.

Gym

I did it! Well, I did something. I went to the gym today and did gym things. Felt pretty darn weak, I gotta say. And I imagine I'll be really sore tomorrow. Also, I finally got my 10k steps for once today. So things are looking up over here! You will not be shocked to know that the gym was hot as all get out today. Temperature control is still not a thing for them.

I did run Saturday and Monday down in Whitewater.  There is a really nice 2 mile route starting at their house and going down to a lake, along the lake, and then back to the house.  So I did that.  Now that I'm home I ran a mile north and back this morning and that will be my route for a while.

Outside Running

I've been outside now two mornings in a row!  Gorgeous weather here at the moment.  About 60, sunny, slight breeze.  Just perfect.  Have run 2 full miles both days so trying to get back into shape here after being off for Israel and then that out patient surgery.  Hope to continue while in Whitewater this weekend.

Reports!

I ran today out at Lake Murray and it was a really beautiful day for it. Not too busy on the lake path, maybe everyone was still at work. But I got my job done and then had a healthy and delicious dinner with my friend, Jen. Bart and I also walked/ran at the lake a couple times on this trip. I have taken a couple days off, but I haven't been completely lazy on this trip. I've sure eaten a heck of a lot, though! OY.

I did something!

It was a week ago today that I had that out patient surgery and I've been off the TM, etc., for that whole week.  But this morning I decided to see what I could do.  Still a little uncomfortable from the surgery but I ran 1.5 miles on the TM and did half my normal pushups and situps.  Situps were a problem though so don't know how that will go tomorrow.  Not much of a big deal but it's a start.

Run

I feel like I'm back in gear here. Which is super nice. Not like extra speedy or energetic, but close enough! Went for another run today. Weather is really wonderful today. Not as hot as it has been - maybe because it is more breezy. Anyway, pretty great. Getting ready to head to SD tomorrow. Sam and I are driving down. He's REALLY excited! Saw my doctor again today and got stuff for a detox. As I told Angie, it might be snake oil, but I'm willing to give it a try! I know it won't hurt, at any rate. I have really been out of touch with using my loseit app. Need to get back on track with that - at some point.

Cat hair gym

Well, I should say I wore a coat of cat hair to the gym. I wore black pants and didn't realize till I was there thst they were full of cat hair! I almost left but I decided to just hope nobody would look at me and notice. So I did my thing and got the heck out of there!

Two Runs to Report

I ran Saturday and today. Hard to get back into the mindset but I'm glad I did it. Very beautiful weather times here, so that makes it even better. But, let me tell you, those ducks and geese are STANK! And the horses, too. I suppose that will get more oderific as the weather continues to heat up. My weight is so much better than I thought it was. Huge relief. So that groove is going to be easy to get back into. And now I'm officially doing the 2 months gluten and dairy free. Gluten is no biggie for me, but dairy was such a giant part of my diet. But that's ok, I'm already on track with different choices!

Back At It

I did run on the TM yesterday but didn't do my pushups and situps.  Today, however, I ran and did all the exercises, too.  Still not caught up on sleep but managed to get it done.  Glad to be home after a fantastic trip!  So very glad you went with us!

Tomorrow morning we are going to Balsam Lake for the Suicide Awareness Walk.  It's supposed to be raining and cold, though, so we'll see.  I plan to run at least some of it although it's advertised as a walk.  Last year several people ran so think I can, too.

What a trip! It was so amazing.  I've been sleeping so much, I kinda cannot believe it. On the other hand, we saw a lot of things in a short amount of time. And our return trip was long. So makes sense to be worn.

I did go to the gym today. Walked there, it's really nice out. Gotta be honest, though. The gym used up all my spice!

Gym Day

Doing Stuff!

Busy weekend here but I'm really on the upswing so I was able to run, go to the gym, and have fun! Bart was here Saturday and Sunday and we had a really good time. I did run Friday and today! Gym yesterday. I my running is slow but I did it and that's what I'm really excited about! Really seems like cutting out the dairy is having a hugely positive impact on me. Hopefully it stays that way and isn't just a coincidence.

I Ran Outside!

Yes, I did!  Was 58 degrees, cloudy, but no wind so I went for it.  Did 2.5 miles and ran all the way.  Wished I had worn shorts and a t shirt though instead of long pants and long sleeves.  Had to go today because a cold front is moving in tonight and going to be cold, cold, cold for a few days.  Also rain coming tonight they say.  And I hope.  My garden and asparagus needs a drink.

Am I better? Maybe!

Today is the first morning in two weeks that I have felt refreshed when I awoke. Even though I only slept 6h 45min. Shhhhh......don't tell anyone that it was under 7! This headache finally feels like it is receding. It's been two weeks! I have to keep working to figure this out because, even if this only happens twice a year to this degree, it has such a hugely negative impact on my life. So I will keep on top of figuring it out! I still have not been running. Just zero energy and mental fortitude to do that. I have been going to the gym, though, and I did go yesterday. And was able to do my usual quantity and weights, although not with my normal level of pep. I'll get there, though. Even though I have not been running, I have been walking. Almost every day I've been doing 10k steps, although a couple days I did not. Just didn't have it in me. I really hope I'm getting back into gear here!

Healthy Heart 5K

Mom and I did the Healthy Heart 5K in Osceola this morning.  Went very well for both of us.  I managed to run the entire way without any stopping or walking at all.  My pace was 10:39.  Feel very good about that.  And Mom was second in her age group!  A perfect, beautiful morning for it, too.  Sunny, about 45, no wind.  Just great.  They said 170 people finished.

Gym!

It's been so long since I've been to the gym, and I could really tell. I hit it as hard as I was able and it did feel good. I'm still not 100% but I went for it anyway. I will tell you what, planks are really hard when I haven't been doing them for some time! I only did 1 minute front and 30 seconds on each side. Usually I do 1 minute front, 1 minute on each side, and 1 more minute front. I must rebuild! Thinking that for our trip I'll have a goal of doing squats, planks, and pushups - in addition to all the walking I know we will be doing.

Still Indoors

It's been cold (mid 30's) and either windy or raining every morning this week.  Too cold for this old man!  So I have been keeping the TM busy and doing ok with that.  Also doing my pushups and situps every morning.  Foot pain didn't last too long the other day.  A couple hours and it was gone.  Very strange I think.  Comes and goes like that.  Also have some arthritis in my hands and can feel it there, too, at times.  But none of it is severe or debilitating so I'm thankful for that.

Today was kinda a mish mash. I ran one single mile and thought thought "Oh, done!" So then I walked a mile. And then I went for a walk with my neighbor tonight! And sounds like we are going tomorrow, too. Headache is still here but better. Frustrating, I just want it to go away!

I did it! 3 Mile Report

Today was the day! I finally got 3 miles in. I am not gonna lie - I wasn't really feeling it. And, in fact, at 1.5 miles I told myself I had my permission to stop at 2 miles. But then I just decided to go for it. And I did it! It wasn't that it was physically hard. Rather, I just haven't been in the mental zone. But hopefully I broke that barrier today. I did go to the gym yesterday and I could really feel those yoga muscles. Dang! Just really surprised!

Whitewater Report

I did run on their TM in Whitewater on Friday and Saturday mornings.  Then on Sunday I ran outside because it was gorgeous!  And they are like you....in a great place for running.  Close to a trail by a lake and very nice conditions.  It was 58 when I was outside and just great.  No run this morning, though, as we prepared to come home.  Get this:  it was +72 when we left Whitewater at 9:30 am today.  Beautiful.  Just like summer.  It was +37 when we got out of the car at home!!!  Just like winter.  Windy.  Terrible.  So I will probably be on the TM here in the morning.

Yoga Uses Muscles!

I went to my second yoga class this morning and it was a different style than the last one. And it really needed muscles! In fact, some of the poses I couldn't do. I had to do modifications. Modification is a polite way of saying "easy", I think! And there were several poses that really caused me to tremble. So I felt like I really was getting some exercise! Planning on the gym tomorrow. Time for me to stop slacking and get back to business. Been meaning to ask you: will you run when we are in Israel? I was thinking of not bringing any running gear but wanted to know your plans first.

Wobbly!

Today was my first post half run and, dang, am I wobbly! I feel like I have no oomph in my legs at all. I thought I would do 3 miles, but ended up doing approximately 1 and 3/4. Guess I need to take it a little bit easy yet. That half did some kind of job on me, for reals!

New Goal, Same As Old Goal

I finally broke the collar on my 5 mile treadmill march yesterday.  My goal was to get 5 miles in the 65 minutes the treadmill allows before resetting the clock and making me start from zero again.  I've made a few attempts at this over the last couple of weeks and, ultimately, fell short.  I vowed to get it done and yesterday was a victory.  Managed 5.25 miles in 65 minutes.  While not on par with an antelope or cheetah, it's a new personal victory for me.  And I celebrated with a steak.

So, time for a new goal. 5 miles in 60 minutes.  I think I could have done it yesterday, but once I realized I was going to break the 5/65 goal, I sort of hit cruise control for the last 10 minutes or so.  Legs were beginning to get rubbery and I was satisfied with what was happening.

Back in Gear

After 6 days off in a row, I felt like I was starting at zero!  But I got on the TM and did a quick 2 miles and started up with the pushups and situps again which I have almost completely neglected in the last month.  So, it's a start but you have to start somewhere!

I gained 3 lbs which away so will work on dropping that now, too.

Back in business and something different

I went to a yoga class last night!  Yep, I feally did.  It is a style called yin and it is a lot of streching and it begins and ends with meditation. I loved it and felt post massage levels of relaxed after. Will go back, for sure.  Kinda made my night crazy, since piano is just before but I'll see if I can make it work.

Gym today. Walked on the treadmill and lifted weights.  Someone was there fixing sevwral treadmills!  That was good to see.

Back to the Half Marathon

I got the word this morning that they have moved me back to the half marathon on Saturday so we'll see how it goes.  I did a 3 mile run this morning down to the lake and back and that went fine.  Don't really feel ready for a full half but know I'll be disappointed if I don't try to do it.  I know I will be walking some and am ok with that.

Best Reno Run

Had my best run since coming to Reno this morning.  Ran a full 3 miles with no walking and only stopped about 10 seconds each way for the light on Plumb Lane.  Am I finally getting use to the change in altitude?  Maybe.  But, for whatever reason, I did good today!

Outside Run

I ran down to the lake this morning, around it, and then around a couple extra blocks on my way back so I got to 2.6 miles.  But I had to walk a couple times, too.  How can it be that I can run a full 3 miles on the TM without stopping or walking but struggle to do that outside?  Part of my problem this morning was that my legs felt like rubber because of that hill climbing we did yesterday.  So I suppose I need to do more of that!

I went to the gym this morning and they had the heat on today!  Very warm upstairs.  I wonder who controls that.  My opinion is that is should be the same every day and should be at the temp that's most comfortable for me!  So I ran on the TM and did my push ups.  And then came home.

It was an absolutely beautiful day today! I had a really enjoyable run around the lake this afternoon. So nice to be outside and NOT be bundled up! You know, I wanted to do an 11 mile run before the half but it's just not going to happen. I think I'm ready enough. At least, I'm as ready as I'm gonna be!

This morning I wore my long pants and long sleeves and they had turned the heat on!  Can't win.  So I was plenty warm by the time I completed my run and then did some push ups and used that "ab crunch" machine for two reps of 15 each.  Very UNbusy in there this morning.

Gym day

Same gym, different time.  And different temperature! Was not super cold for me in the afternoon.

Very busy at the gym today but I got all my weights lifted. It was good and I increased some weight, too.

But I don't even like to DRIVE 4 miles...

I ran 4 miles on the treadmill at CHUZE today. Been using a couple different apps on my phone to sort of coach me along from a brisk walk to a brisk trot (3.6 and 5.5, respectively). Upping the running part from 5.0 to 5.5 got me to 4 miles in under 60 minutes, which is a goal I've had in mind for a while.

One of the apps I use trains you for the Couch To 5K. With each lesson, you run at different, longer intervals and less walking between them.  I'm at a point where it's getting pretty challenging, so I redo the days I struggle with in hopes that I can finally make easy work of it and move on to the next step.  It says it can have you run a straight 5k in 9 weeks.  That's not going to happen with me, but it will at some point.

The other app I use is similar, but it doesn't explicitly say it's training for a 5k.  It just does interval training that increases each time.  I've been using that on days when I'm not doing C25K.  It's what I used to coach me to the 4 miles today.

Looking forward to coming up to Reno and seeing you all.  We can all run together, whether it be indoors or out!

Cold Run Today

And I was INSIDE at the gym!  Geez, it was cold upstairs there this morning!  It's always been plenty cool but this was very cool.  Will have to start wearing my long pants.  Think they forgot to turn up the heat when they opened up this morning.  But I had a good 3 miler and then did some pushups and 20 reps on some machine.

UFFDA!!

I decided that since the temperature was supposed to be 45 or so I would run outside.  But I didn't factor in the wind!  Wow!  I ran south toward Plumb Lane and hit some gusts along the way but nothing like the wall of wind I ran into when I turned west onto Plumb.  I did run a half mile up Plumb but the wind and the dirt and dust it was blowing my way soon ended that.  Turned north onto Plumas Street and came back to Arroya and the safety of home.  I did get 2 miles in and had a really good time.  But the wind....sure hope it's not like this on the 25th!

Big Run

Did a big run this afternoon, 7.14 miles. I went up Plumb a little bit. From Watt to that first light up the hill. Then back down then back up. Did that 6 times (approx - I lost count). First I did 3 rounds of the lake, then the hill thing, then once around the lake. I sure have slowed down since I had to take some time off due to my foot. But that's how it is and I'm not gonna worry about how fast (or slow, as the case may be!!) I am! I'd like to get a 10 mile run in before the half, but we'll see. It's ok if I don't, I'm ready. So it's a want, not a need.

Outside Run

It was only 32 degrees but I decided to break my 40 degree rule and run outside. No wind at all so it was pretty nice.  Ran from here down to Virginia Lake, around the lake, and back.  That is 2.45 miles.  Was warmed up at half mile mark so from then on it was fine.  Only problem is the very long light at Lakeside and Plumb!  Tried to run in place but that's a long light.

At The Gym

I've been to the gym every morning since last Saturday so I'm getting to know the guy at the front desk!  Also starting to see some of the same people now and then.  Anyway, I slept late this morning and really didn't feel like going but I did and, once there, was fine.  Did 3 miles on the TM and some pushups and situps.  Tried a machine my front desk guy recommended to simulate situps.  Not sure it does that but I did 15 reps on it anyway.

Another Run

Today was one of those "awwwww......but I don't wanna!!!!" days! But I did it. 3 mile run around the lake. Really pretty day out there - not too busy at the lake, either. I was soooo not into the run so I didn't do more than 3 miles, even though I ought to have gone longer. Physically I could have, mentally - NOPE! But I did something and that makes me happy and content.

I did it!!

I finally signed up for the half marathon. I've just been so worried about my foot! But my new shoes are helping a lot and I was able to run 5 miles yesterday. So I feel confident I'll be able to do the half. Maybe not as fast as I hoped, because I've lost some training time. Alas! But I'll be able to do it. As mentioned, I ran 5 miles yesterday. Around the lake. It was a nice day out there.

Second morning went well.  Although they didn't open the door until 9:12 and by then there were 13 of us standing outside. But once inside it was fine.  Did 3 miles yesterday but only 2 today because i was pressed for time.  Liking it very much!

I did something!

I've been such a lump lately, and I can really tell in my attitude. Which is bad. I did go to the gym today though, finally. Walked. Lifted weights. Walked some more. And now my attitude is a little less bad. My foot is feeling somewhat better. It's still not great but I don't feel like I am walking on top of a big knot of nerves today. My toe is numb and tingly though. And the ball of my foot is a little bit achy. But I bet it will continue to get better. And I bet I'll continue to get less crank!

I Ran Outside!

In Wisconsin!  On my birthday!  I ran our 5K route and it was tough.  Temp said 40 but there was a breeze plus cars and trucks going by me at 60 per.  So the first mile was cold, cold, cold.  But I persisted and got it done.  Time wasn't as good as I've been doing but under 11 min per mile.

Back on Track

I ran 2.5 miles on the TM this morning and did all 60 pushups and situps.  Felt good to do something after 2 days off.  Well, not exactly "off" because I worked for sure.

Update

We're home and not a moment too soon!  I did run on their TM Sunday morning before going to work in the basement but then Paul and I worked down there until 8:30 pm!  Did have a break for a nice ribs dinner and even a piece of birthday cake but then worked another hour and I was exhausted.  In the process, the TM got put up and covered in plastic to protect it from sawdust.  So yesterday I just went over there and got to work.  Was done by 4 pm but, again, worn out!  Today we traveled home.  I will be on the TM here tomorrow morning!  I promise!

Another Run

I can sure tell I've been slacking a bit lately. Really blah run today. Time was a bit slower than it has been and I just felt gummy. Also, my one minute planks felt like they had to be 10 minute planks! But it's done. Another day down. It was really really nice out there. Crisp was warm(ish).

Weird Weather Day

Went out for a 3 mile run this morning and I was really surprised at the temp. All my sources told me it was a bitter 29 degrees out but....well, I really doubt that. It was beautiful. Maybe it just felt a lot warmer in the sun? It's a beautiful sunshiny day. Anyway, 3 miles. And that was that! Also, people! Why is it so hard to walk on the correct side? It's not that hard, really!

It's a Start!

Not much but I did something!  We had arranged for Carol Ann to take Mom to Osceola this morning and then I will go down later and pick her up.  Weren't sure how I'd be feeling today so made this arrangement.  But I am feeling better this morning.  Not over it yet but decided to get on the TM and see how it went.  And I actually ran a mile and half.  Felt like I had run 10 but was glad to do something.  Every day will get better now I'm sure.  I hope anyway.

On Saturday we are going to Whitewater and staying at the Super * with no fitness room so trying to figure out how to get my runs in.  Have to go to Waelchli's and use their TM unless the weather improves.

Lunch Run

Work has just been crazy (in a not good way!) for a month or so and I have been working a lot. But today I told those peeps "I'm taking a break!" and I did. I went out an ran. 4 miles. I'm glad I did because the sky got drippy again as the afternoon progressed. So that's that.

I did it!

I've been feeling soooo lazy. So lazy. But today I went to the gym, even though I didn't want to. I ran 1.5 miles and then lifted weights. Did that plain bar again. I'm going to had 2.5# weights to each side next time I go. Start bumping it up. I did increase the weight on a different arm exercise I do. I was really happy about that, been working on increasing that for a bit now. So that's my report. Oh, also, I've been sneezing like crazy this evening!

Off Since Saturday

This cold came over me Sunday early morning.  Woke up at 2 am and knew it was coming.  Very stuffed up.  And sure enough it did.  So I have been off now 3 days and I don't like it!  Not sure yet what tomorrow might bring.  Feeling a little better and not so stuffy this afternoon so we'll see.  Nose isn't running like it has been the last 2 days either.  So, I'm hopeful.  Some sneezing but not much coughing with this one so think my lungs must be fairly clear.

Gym

No running today but I did go to the gym. Walked there, since it was beautiful again today and all the snow and ice is gone. YAY! Ghost town at the gym, which I figured it would be due to the game. I walked n the treadmill and then lifted weights. Used an ez curl bar for my biceps curls. Just really struggling with increasing that weight using dumbbells. The dumbbells increase by 5 pound increments, and I think that's just too much. Had to use a bar with no added weights today! The bar itself is heavy. But the gym has 2.5 weights I can start with when I'm ready and then I can move to 5 pound weights. So I'll try this to help my strength progression. Took a couple walks around the lake today. Just a really nice day - although it sure got windy. The last 1/4 of my final lap, I was really fighting that wind!

Beautiful day!

Pretty darn amazing day here today. Blue sky, but with pristine white crazy shaped clouds. Not rain clouds. Just like clouds were included to make the sky look like art. And it got up to 56 degrees! Just really really nice and sunshine-y day. So a perfect day for a run! I just ran around the lake but I did 6.23 miles and I was really excited about my pace for the entire run, which was 59 minutes (and some seconds!) total. Seems like the weight lifting I'm doing really is making a huge improvement in my running pace. Not too busy at the lake today. I suppose a lot of people when further out to go hiking and such. Good for me - more room!

But I still ran inside.  And by "warmer" I mean it was above zero!  Actually, about 12 above when I looked.  Still too cold for me though.  And, besides, all the roads around us are still snow and ice packed so not going out there until they clear off.  So, 3 miles on the TM again for me.

I did it!

Been a little off track the past few days and I'm glad to report that I was able to get my lazy bones out the door and get 3 miles in today. It was so so nice to not have to bundle up! I did wear a long sleeved shirt but none of my winter running gear. 3 miles and I beat the evening sprinkles!

Back on the TM

Home and back on the TM.  Only +7 out there this morning and fresh layer of snow so my outdoor running days are done again for a while.  But the TM works fine and I got it done.  Haven't done puships and situps for 2 weeks though and that was tough.  But I got that done, too.  Glad to be home.

It was as usual! Actually, I didn't run to warm up today. I was just too tired. So I walked, lifted weights, walked.

Seems busier at the gym, which is good. I can still use all the equipment I need, which is even better!

Surprise Ending

Our time here is quickly coming to an end.  I ran the 5K on Saturday and then yesterday and today was satisfied with 2 mile runs around the neighborhood here.  Gorgeous out there this morning.  45 and full sun.  No wind.  Wish every day had been like this!

San Diego Gym Day

Yep! Went the gym here in SD! I went with Bart to his Chuze Fitness in La Mesa. I used to be a member of Chuze (before I joined Boulevard Fitness in North Park). Anyway, his Chuze is so much nicer than the one I went to in La Mesa, I couldn't believe it! Super nice. I did a 1 mile warmup run on the treadmill than my usual weightlifting routine. Well, mostly my normal weightlifting routine. I had to make some concessions due to the level of busy there. Then, when I was done lifting, I walked on the treadmill for a bit. Really good and fun gym outing. So glad we could go!

San Diego Run!

Really nice run this morning here in the city of La Mesa! Maybe 65 degrees. I did 3 miles, they were 1 mile loops. Worked out well because the out was downhill and the back was uphill. Fun day and I don't leave till 5:20 pm tomorrow so another day with Bart before I head back to Reno and he hits the road!

Good Gym!

Pretty sure I made a gym friend today. I said, "Are you using this bench?" And he said, "Nope, it's all yours." And I said, "Thanks!" Did my running to warm up thing again today. 1.5 miles. Then I did my usual lifts. Challenging today. Although I did not sleep last night, so that might explain it. And then I walked on the treadmill to hit my 10k. Solid day, it was good. Busy there today when I went. Maybe they will still be open for business when you come!

Chilly Run

Brrrr! 33 when I ran today around 1 pm. Actually, when I got out there, it wasn't awful. So I was glad. 3 miles around the lake. I forgot to post that yesterday I did go to the gym. 1 mile warm up, then weights, then I walked on the treadmill. Good times!

Frosty Morning in Arizona!

I kid you not.  It was 31 here at 7 am and only 34 when I went out to run at 8:30 and THERE WAS FROST ON THE GOLF COURSE!!!  Unbelievable.  I thought we had left that stuff behind in Wisconsin.  I only ran 2 miles this morning because I was cold!  Hope it warms up before that 5K on Saturday.

Cool Run

How come it's so damn cold in Arizona?  Only 38 at 8 am today and 41 when I finally went outside to run at 8:30.  No windchill however! And the sun is out today so it was a very nice run actually once I got warmed up.  Did my 3 miles and still running the whole way which makes me feel very good!

A walk

Slow moving weekend and a slow day today. Not sleepimg great and it's catching up with me. So tired right now so I'm going to seize the moment here real soon.

I did go over to the gym today and walk on the treadmill. 40 minutes at a big incline. Then I got home and decided to walk to the mailbox. So I got my 10k steps for once!

Been a serious slacker about steps lately, so I need to get back on track again.

Good Run

48 degrees, no wind, nice and level.  Perfect conditions for an old man!  3.14 miles at a 10:33 pace.  I'm very pleased with my pace here.  Better than I've done for a long time.  Looking forward to that 5K next Saturday!

Day Off Today

I ran 3.0 the first day here, 3.22 the second day, and then just 2.0 yesterday (it was raining!).  And I took today off to give my calves a rest.  I can really feel the difference when I've been on a TM for so long and then get on pavement again.  But I will be out there again tomorrow.  We went for a 1.5 mile walk this afternoon when we got back from Sun Lakes.

Gym Times

I sure got to the gym late last night! I was really tired because I got up so early to drive to SD. So last night I just walked on the treadmill. Big incline but lowish pace. So that was good. And today I went to the gym and I ran a mile to warm up and then lifted weights. The usual, nothing fancy or different. Weight remains the same, which is fine. I'll deal!

Wet Run

It was "raining" here this morning but I ran anyway.  For me, it was like running in a heavy fog or light mist.  But I ran 3.22 miles and my pace was 10:34 per mile so, for me, that is just plain excellent!  Very pleased.  People were out and around walking their dogs with big winter coats, hats, and gloves on!  They are the ones who looked funny!

Surprise Running

I ran a full 3 miles around our neighborhood this morning.  42 so kind of cool but a good run. Nice and level and virtually no traffic except for a couple of golf carts.  Going to like running here but hope it warms up just a little.  We walked 1.5 miles around here last night.

Weekend Update

Well, I have more stuff to report! Sunday I went to they gym and lifted weights. Also walked on the treadmill. Today I went to the gym and ran 2 miles. That's all I had in me!

And I happened upon a busy time! I went at 11 am and the running cardiovascular room was packed!

They have 2 cardiovascular rooms. One has newer treadmills and the other has older ones that are for walking only. But they have plenty running treadmills, you won't have an issue securing one when you want to run.

I did it! I had a goal to do a 6 mile run this weekend and I did it today! Pretty excited, especially since it was 33 degrees out!

Snack Attack

Well, it happened. I had a snacking breakdown today. My snack was 100% whole wheat crackers so.....that's good I guess? Or, maybe I should say, at least there's that? Anyway, I practically ate my entire daily allotment in crackers! Dinner tonight is going to be protein powder and greens sauteed in water! Not tasty but Lose It tells my I'm now way behind on my protein and I know I've only had one serving of vegetables today. But, on a positive note, I got to a full point and STOPPED. And then (warning - this is wasteful!) I threw the rest of the crackers away. Because, if I didn't, I would totally eat them. So that's what I did. And then I went to the gym (which was my plan, anyway) and I ran a bit on the treadmill (15 min), then I did my usual weights. And then I walked on the treadmill after. Usually I'd say, "Well, I'm snacking now so I'll go for it and just not do it tomorrow." So I'm really happy that I didn't do that today. So I'm irked that I snacked but glad that I handled it differently.

3rd Time is the Charm!

Took me three attempts to get my run in today! But I was dedicated to it because today was nice and had blue sky. And I was bound and determined to enjoy it, dang it! First time I went out was around 9 or 9:30 this morning. And it was pure ice out there. I couldn't believe it. Probably just under 1/4" thick. I seriously considered still doing it but then I told myself to not be such a dolt and just wait. Second time was around noon. Went outside and there were the furnace guys! I don't know if I've told you I have been having furnace problems. But this was their third and, we all hope, final visit. Especially Sam. He's done with them! Anyway, they were here until 2:30 or a little after. My third try was after they left. And I was successful! 4 miles around the lake and it was really nice. It is so beautiful here right now. And I got my first Reno cheer! Some oldser cheered me today. And I, of course, smiled and waved at him. So that was super nice. In my heart, he did not vote for Trump. I refuse to believe it.

Still doing It

I'm still running 3 miles on the TM each morning and then doing pushups and situps.  And I'm back on Lose It as of today!  Have some weight to lose after this holiday seige when your mother was constantly forcing me to eat everything she cooked and baked.  But I'm done with that now!  I have set a new goal for myself which Lose It says I should reach on March 25th.  Isn't that the day of the half marathon?  That would be perfect so we'll see how it goes.  I haven't registered yet but am pretty much planning on it.

I haven't talked to Mom about this but am wondering if it might be possible to get her a gym membership for that month we're there.  She will want to be walking we know and thinking about the weather.  What do you think?

Little Gym

Gym day today! Went early and it still wasn't terribly busy but different people so a different vibe. I ran 5 minutes on the treadmill to warm up and then just did my business. And that's it! Not too exciting but I got it done. Possible I will have a day off tomorrow. I'm sore! And I didn't sleep well at all last night so, yeah, a day of rest might be in order. Weight is doing good, so I'm happy about that.

Running in the Rain

I ran in the rain today! Super geared up for it. I wore leggings and then some wind breaker type running pants over those. Then a long sleeved shirt, my Whistlestop rain jacket, and I still have our Disney Land rain poncho, so I wore that, too. I did still get wet! But it wasn't too bad. And my new shoes did pretty good but I think I will get some water resistant spray for the top of them. My feet were wet by the time I got home. My garmin tells me I ran 4.10 miles in 39m 54s. Beyond happy about that! I considered doing 5 miles but, by the end of 4, I'd had enough. There was a giant work truck (like a container truck) on the path right by that wooden bridge when I was wrapping up mile 4 and I had to run through puddles to get around it so I decided that was enough. They had a hose going into that creek so maybe they were pulling water out to deter flooding? I have no idea what they were doing! As you know, I did get out of my driveway yesterday and I went to the gym. Did my usual weightlifting routine then I walked on the treadmill for 10 minutes at a crazy high incline. So that was that! Still not feeling great but I'm waaaay super medicated now.

Treadmill Run

Today was nice and I probably could have run outside, but I went over to the gym. Did 3 miles on the treadmill and I'm really happy with my run. Both because I made myself do the full three miles and because I did a really great and (for me!) ambitious pace. So it was good. My gym is not seeing the traditional influx of resolutioners. Or it doesn't seem like it over the past 2 days that I've been there. Maybe I'll see more people tomorrow.

Back on Track

I've been under the weather here for 3 days.  Came down with severe constipation on Tuesday for no reason I can think of.  Had planned Tuesday as a day off because had to take Mom to Rice Lake for an appointment that morning.  But I was in some pain even then.  Tried to run both Wednesday and Thursday but quit at half mile.  Too uncomfortable.  So then yesterday I went out to buy some stuff and cleaned myself out and this morning I feel fine again!  No clue what caused this.

But I got back on the TM this morning and did my full 3 miles plus all 60 pushups and 60 situps.  So feeling very good about it again.

We registered for a 5K in Surprise, AZ for Jan. 28th.  I'm still thinking about the half marathon in Reno.

Slippery Day!

We've sure had some weather! Yesterday was rainy and about 45. Today I woke up to maybe 1" of snow. And some pretty flakes throughout the day. But we really have ice! Half inch thick on the roads, I'd bet! And I didn't see any salt or sand out. Weird. Also, not much shoveling seems to happen. I did go over to the lake for a walk today but it wasn't really enjoyable so I only made one trip around. Later on I walked to the gym, but that was like taking my life in my hands! So slippery. Someone told me that it is "supposed to be worse tomorrow" and I have no idea what that means, but I will find out when it happens! Guess the point here is that I did go to the gym today. Oh, and I am very sore from my new shoes. Will take some time to adjust.

Run....S

Yep, runs as in more than one! I ran one mile in my San Diego running shoes. Let me tell you, I am not in San Diego anymore! I was 1/2 mile in and my feet were soaking wet. I've been running in these Nike Free shoes that I love but they are low to the ground and all mesh. So I was not having much luck staying dry. And I knew at your house that I needed new shoes - better shoes for "weather". So I made a quick run (car run!) to the running store and got a new pair of shoes. Then I went back over to the lake and finished my run. 3 miles total, split between two sessions. That's my story! I think I'm still having a sinus infection and it's so irritating. But I'm kinda coughy and congested and I've had a noggin ache for the past couple days.

Goal Reached!

All fall I have been gradually upping my mileage so that on January 1st I would be ready to run a full 3 miles.  And I did!  Felt very good about it, too.  Plan to continue the same now until we go to Phoenix and then up to 3.5.
