Pop Watch 2010 Continues!

Well, here we are at day 2 of no pop! Another success but it was difficult, no kidding. I am just so used to it.

I had such a great run this morning. It felt really good to be back on the road. I ran three miles at a bit over a 10 minute mile.

I pushups and abs and even triceps dips. OUCH.

And then I did hills. Yep, back to old times!

Good eating times today, too. And a really successful FM outing with Bart. Fun night!

Good Morning

And it is a very good morning, too! I had a good night's sleep with no boot on! And went for a 5 mile bike ride this morning. I could hardly walk into the house, however, when I got home! Need to get my legs back in shape. A perfect, gorgeous morning here. 59 when I left the house and no wind. Just beautiful! And I was so glad to be out there doing it again!!! Then my 45 push ups, 45 sit ups, and weight lifts so feeling good this morning. Took my friends, Air Supply, with me all the way and they were happy to be out there doing it again today, too!

Day 1......

......of no pop! I've been drinking so much that it is just a habit I really want to stop. So none today and I want to continue this trend. I want it to be a treat, not a habit.

Also ate healthy today. One thing I've noticed is that I've been a bit lazy about cutting my fruits and veggies before I head out for work. Then I get busy and do not have time to cut it at work - which means I don't eat it! So enough of that. I am going to get back into the habit of doing that before I leave the house.

That's all I've got! I woke up with such a headache today and had it all day. So I slept in (till 6:45) and did not run. I'll be back to that tomorrow.

I'm back!

I'm sorry I abandoned you and I hope Mom gave you my message. I didn't have connectivity in Vegas, so I could not do any posting.

Dang, did we have fun! It was great. Lots of walking - my feet are amazingly swollen. Lots of eating. Funny - my stomach is amazingly swollen too! Back to healthy eating tomorrow.

I only ran once on the trip, but it was really enjoyable. I ran outside because the hotel gym was $22 per day and I just couldn't justify that for 40 minutes of use! So I made a little route and ran 3.9 miles. It was early but it was HOT. Sunday I just woke up too late and I thought the heat would get me and then today we left so I didn't have time.

The big question is will I run tomorrow??? I'm so darn tired I really don't know. I'll play it by ear.

I had a great time but I'm glad to be back!!

But I'm starting a new week here by doing my routine of push ups, sit ups, etc. See the Doc tomorrow and wonder if she'll let me take this boot off and throw it away. If so, I will start bike riding the next morning. If not, it'll be another 2 weeks at least.

Good Morning

I did my full routine again this morning and it felt good. I'm getting pretty good at "one footed" situps and pushups. Would really like to be outside walking or biking however. Don't know how soon that will happen though. Foot has been bothering me some the last couple of days here. I see the Doc again next Tuesday.

Woe is me!

I'm in agony!!!!

I decided to run today and I'm glad I did cause I need a few days off now! I had a good, if slow and short, run. I got out there and realized right away that I could only do three and I HAD to take it easy. So I did three and they were tough! But I enjoyed it and was happy to be back out and about.

Then I went to work and it was Jessica's last day. Very sad. But, in honor of her last day, we ordered a bounce house! What is a bounce house? Here you go!

It was amazingly fun and amazingly hard! My heart rate was higher then it gets running I bet. But it was so fun were were in and out of that thing all afternoon. And it made me tremble around like a new born lamb! So I was tired.

As if that wasn't enough, Jessica spent an hour hitting balls after work. Yes, an HOUR. I bet I can't lift my arms tomorrow!!

Busted!

I haven't had much to share lately because I've been a tad lazy and, get this, I got unofficially busted for the length of time I've been spending at lunch on my walking. I say unofficially because someone came to me and told me that the bossman had asked her to keep an eye on my comings and goings. She declined and told me all about this but that doesn't mean someone else didn't accept the challenge.

As you can tell, my place of employment is pretty awesome.

Now, on to better news. I'll get on the bike tonight and meet Runner Girl at the Adams Avenue Farmer's Market, then have a nice, healthy dinner with the fruits (and vegetables!) of my labor.

Hopefully I can get a decent walk in before we head to the Land Of Buffets.... Las Vegas! But we'll have plenty of walking opportunities there too.

Hope all is well. Getting those marathon text messages and seeing the videos was pretty awesome.

Fitnatics 5K

It was run today! Angie came in first and led by a mile. Even after running a half marathon yesterday! Good thing for her I wasn't able to race! Everybody else did a great job though, too, and it was a fun morning. I served as the Support Team and think I did a pretty good job with that!

Race Day Part Deux

Well, here we are again! The second annual Fitnatics 5K! A bit different this year then last year but what is life without the opportunity for change?

I'm officially going to be the Water Boy at the 1.5 mark. I just don't have it in me this year! But this will be really fun too.

We Did It!

Well, I can't believe it! This was a dream come true. Something I always wanted to do but never really thought I would. Pretty exciting!

My total time was 4:45:15 and my average pace per mile was 10:54. That was so much better then I anticipated. I was going to be happy with a 12 minute mile.

My real goal was to run the entire race and not walk. And I did it! I ran the entire way. I only stopped for one bathroom break at mile 13. There were a million port-a-potties because that was were the half started.

Race Day

The big day is here! We are up and (pretty much) ready. Drinking coffee and eating breakfast. For breakfast, I had a honey Greek yogurt and a kiwi. I usually don't eat before I run but I figured it was important to fuel up today! I think I ate food that is healthy and full of the nutrition I need but really easy to digest.

Dad, we thank you so much for being our best teammate and getting up and toting us around. Thank you a million times over!

Final Run Pre-Marathon

Well, this was it. My final run before the big day. I can't believe it and I can't believe I'm doing this! Tomorrow I will not run, although I know that some people swear by putting in a few before the big event.

Great run today - even though I was alone because Ang had to work. Even the cows abandoned me! But it was fun and relatively quick. I put in 6 miles.

I was worried I might have made myself extra sore playing catch with Josh, but I woke up feeling great and felt good all day!

Runnin Fools

Ang and I had a great run today! We did a six mile trip around the block. It was fun - cows chased us! Very little traffic....well, not counting the lady in her golf cart taking her dogs for a walk. She seemed positive that I was going to be interested in her dogs. I wasn't.

Today turned into a beautiful day. Blue sky. But we should have rain again tomorrow afternoon.

Playing Catch Up!

Hi there. I had Monday off so I could get out of jury duty (again) and made the most of it by doing my consulting biz on bike. It wasn't too far, maybe 1 mile each way, but I love riding the bike.

I tried to make up for it today by doing a 2.25 mile walk at lunch. It was punishingly humid out after the morning "gloom" burned off, but I managed. I reckon it's only going to get hotter as these months roll along, so I should start bringing a change of clothes with me.

Fitnatics 5K

Hurray! I'm home! And I had a really great run today. I slept in and then drank a bunch of coffee, which is always a very happy start to the day. Then I did a 4 mile run and it was beautiful out there! A pretty run. And I didn't get rained on, which was VERY lucky! Because it poured later.

So, the question of the day is: What should the Fitnatics 5K prize be this year? Last year it was a watch....as Dad well knows!

I sure was not motivated to run today. Don't know why - just had the lazy bones!

But I did it and, like usual, I'm glad I did. It was fun once I got started and it felt good to be out. Beautiful day. Did about 5.5.

This morning I did 45 situps, 45 pushups, some arm work with 5 lb weights, and some arm work with Mom's band that she has here. Not sure if it's all doing me any good but I did it. Guess it did because my heart got to pumping pretty good.

Fitnatics Reunion

I can't wait! I am so excited to get on a plane tomorrow and see you!

I took today off. Why? Because I slept until 10:50! Crazy, I know. I was quite proud of myself.

But I did run yesterday, about 5.5 miles. And I'll run tomorrow.

There was a skunk in my courtyard last night! I went to Jessica's graduation party and rolled on in around 12:30 am and I opened the gate and came face to face with a skunk on his way out! My heart stopped, I tell you. We stared at each other for about 10 seconds and then I turned around and RAN away, high heels and all! OK, not so high - only 3 inches. But still! I ran to my car, jumped in, and locked the doors. And I stayed there for 5 or 10 minutes. Then I walked back to the alley entrance.

Good thing I could run away so fast!

Good Morning

Simple push ups and sit ups this morning but I did them. We have a small set of hand weights here so going to do something with them, too, starting on Monday.

Thinking here that by the time this is over my left leg will be as strong as an oxen's and my right one will be as weak as can be. So will have to do something about that when the time comes.

Wet!

I sure had a damp run this morning! Again, not rain. Just.....fog, I guess! But I was really soaked by the time I got home.

Great run this AM. 8.77 miles. I was all alone out there! Well, there were a couple of dog walkers, truth be told.

So close to coming home!!! I can't wait!

Slacker's Digest

Wow am I ever sorry for not updating at all this week. However, this doesn't mean I haven't been busy. In between the Dilbert-ish day job I hold, I've had a grip of consulting opportunities come up which has killed most of my free time.

Goal

Hello! I've found that I really miss having a goal! The Nike+ is very cool and the site lets me set a goal and gives me a visual representation of how far I've gone and what I have left. Also if I am ahead or (gasp!!) behind.

Great run this morning. 5.5 miles. Lonely out there again! Had a bunch of runners for a few days then - bam! - just me. Like the Twilight Zone.

It was Farmer's Market night tonight. Bart and I went and got some amazing stuff. I'm having such delicious strawberries!

Running and working

I had a good run this morning! Just under 9 miles and just over 10 minutes a mile! And it felt good.

It has been so humid here. This morning it was actually a bit drizzly. But it was not raining, the air was just that wet! Never did clear up today.

Short Run

Well, my big plan of running 8 miles did not come to fruition. Why? Cause at mile 2 I realized that I forgot to do this important work thing that needed to get done and, let me tell you, I picked up my pace and shortened my distance! I've really slowed down recently and this was my first sub-10 minute mile morning in a loooong time!

I did run hills at lunch. Beautiful out and it was great to get outside.

My marathon card came in the mail today!!

Weekend Wrap-up

Not much to wrap up here! At least not for today. Just kind of hot and humid and I slept late-ish, so I took it off. And I enjoyed my day of lazy!

I had a good run yesterday - just under 5 miles. I don't think I'll run over 12 miles in a session before the marathon. But I do need to pick up my mileage, I think. I'll plan to do 8 tomorrow.

I find that I really miss having a goal! It really kept me motivated and watching my tracker really gave me something to look forward to. I will set a new one for tomorrow, in fact.

I have to figure out a way to fix these knots in my back. Bart and I tried out a new $20/hour massage place last night. LOVED IT! It was the best one. Anyway, my guy said to me, "Miss....Miss....your shoulder...no good." When a guy who rubs backs all day tells you that you have trouble....you have trouble!r

More Of the Usual

Not a whole lot of excitement to report today so I'll get right to it.

2 miles, with a little dip through a Cul De Sac. The weather was perfect and I worked up a good lather to take in to my 1pm meeting today!

High Five!

Yep! Another runner actually gave me a high five today! Pretty funny and made my day. It is that guy that I see every now and again - older guy, the one who crossed the street to say "hi" to me one morning. Anyway, like I said, it made my day.

I've not been sleeping well the last few nights and I can tell by my worn out snooze button! I've been sleeping till 5:15 or so. Well, not sleeping. But laying in bed and cursing the alarm! I did get up though, and I did run. Same as yesterday, so about 5.5 miles. Beautiful day out and it was fun and there just seems to be marathon energy in the air! I'll be rooting for them from my couch come Sunday! I tried to register for this marathon but it was closed. So Grandma's it is!

I did pushups and abs when I got back. Did some hills at lunch. Beautiful day out.

No Pho For Me

Part of today's lunch walk was intended to incorporate lunch into the walk itself. On my way to the office I had spied a new branch of Pho Cali Grill and decided I'd mosey on over there at lunch and grab me a delicious bowl of soup.

No such luck. The building was empty along with a "Coming Soon" sign that mocked me so. I had to settle on a Subway sandwich next door, which was as unimpressive as Subway can get, yet did the job.

But it was a gorgeous day and I didn't let this minor setback discourage my walk, which clocked in at 2.13 miles. Here's the map, along with a photo of the non-pho pho place: http://goo.gl/Hb6Y .

Farmers Market with Julie tonight. This led to a most wonderful dinner of cauliflower and asparagus roasted to perfection in my oven.

Ouch!

Yep, I'm still hurting. And my coworker was telling me that quinine is great for sore muscles and I totally forgot to get some pills or even tonic water! Tomorrow though.

I did run today - even though I hurt. 5.5 miles....ish. Slow though. About 10:28 per minute. Lots and lots of runners out today. Surprising. I bet it is because the Rock & Roll Marathon is Saturday. I imagine they are finishing up their training and doing some outdoor stuff if they had not been before.

You know how I just do the Kensington Loop multiple times in order to add on distance? Someone else was doing that today. I thought it was a glitch in the Matrix!

No hills. I've not bee sleeping and I'm sore so I just didn't.

Bart and I went to the FM today and stocked up on delicious healthy food! Also, he bought me flowers! So tonight I am having some greens, tomatoes (I know!!), baby yellow squash, and bacon. And I'm doing it ALL on the Forman grill. Cross your fingers and hide your children!

Welcome to Bart! Bart joins us from the grey, frigid tundra known as San Diego. His likes include meatloaf, pickles, long walks, and thermal shirts in order to combat the cold.

Nothing Too Fancy

Did a 2 mile walk at lunch today. Pretty slow pace, no fancy footwork involved. The Nike+ died on my about 1.5 miles in, but the Motion-X GPS captured the whole experience.

I think I'll stick with the GPS for now. It's pretty accurate (only failed on me once or twice) and it uploads a nice little map with my route and any photos I may stop to take along the way. It'll also email the results to people I choose and, should I be inclined, post up to Twitter.
