Right Foot and Run Report
It's been 5 days I think since I hurt my right foot but this morning now it felt fine so I did my full 3 miles on the TM without problem. Well, except for the fact that it felt like I had taken a month off instead of only 5 days. But I got it done and the foot is still fine so I'm glad for that. Also did my pushups and situps so back in the swing here.

Walking
This morning I finally got on the TM but walked for 30 minutes instead of running. Right foot is certainly better than it was but I can still feel some discomfort there. Walking went fine so we'll see what tomorrow brings.

More stuff and things!
First, I've done an amazing job not going cookie insane. I pat myself on the back!
Today you already know what I did! I was on the treadmill for 30 minutes. 5 minutes at 6 incline/4 pace. Then 5 minutes at 1 incline/5.3 pace. I alternated that and it was really quite enjoyable!

Two + miles. Well, I ran for 30 minutes. It was good! My book is good! And it was WARM!
My Right Foot
I'm only posting here so I will have some documentation down the road. I injured my right foot somehow on Wednesday 12/18/13. Not sure how this happened but might have been while pushing a van out of a ditch. The guy was delivering a hospital bed here but went to Kutneys by mistake and got stuck turning around in their driveway. Anyway, there is a very tender spot on the top of my right foot right where the foot meets the ankle on the right side. Very tender to the touch and has me limping. It does loosen up during the day but not enough so that I'm comfortable running on it. Didn't run yesterday or today so we'll see what tomorrow brings.

Hills!
Treadmill hills! Today I used your treadmill to do hills. I did 20 minutes at a 6% incline and 10 minutes at a 7% incline. Pace was 3.9 (I think!). I've been listening to a good fantasy series, so that kept me going.
Also used your weights and did some situps.

Hills!
My final San Diego run for two weeks! Went over to Texas and ran it 3 times. Wasn't super into it but it needed to be done.

3 hills
Another day, another three hills! I almost talked myself out of it but I'm glad I was unsuccessful in that endeavor! It was a good day for hills. A little cooler. And it was shady by the time I went out.

Really good run today. I have no idea why some days are like that. I wish they all were!

I really didn't feel great yesterday, so I did not run. But I'm feeling good today so I went over to Texas and ran it 3 times! It has been awhile so I told myself I just needed to do two. But I got the two done and then thought, "I know I can do another." So I did!

Sunday Run
I got up and ran 3 on the TM during the time of the first service at PLC. So there are some nice things about being retired I guess. Still seems very odd though. Anyway, did my run and exercises and now waiting to go to Milltown Lutheran for their 10:30 service. We haven't visited there yet. Mom is hoping to go, too.

Not sure about tomorrow. I'm volunteering a day of painting for Mike and Dana Bussewitz in the house they've bought in Osceola and the work party begins at 8:30 am. I do know I'm not getting up at 5:30 just to get a run in!

Boy, someday I really need to get new running shoes!

3 miles
Busy busy work day but I made time to run! I was at a breaking point so I went for a run and I'm so glad I did.
The clouds followed me from Normal Heights to Kensington! Really! And now it's cold and spitting. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Late Morning Run
Geez Louise, I slept until 8 am this morning!! I was awake several times during the night but then slept like a log. So a late run today. Didn't get on the TM until 9:15. But I did my 3 miles. Now, going out to shovel a couple inches of snow off the sidewalks and deck. +32 here so you think it should melt but it hasn't.

I had a nice run this morning! 3 miles. Not too much excitement out there. I suppose most people are at work when I ran.

Good run! / 3 miles
Good run today but very slow. That's ok, though, I'm just happy I got out there and did it. Absolutely beautiful day here today. It was probably about 63 when I was running.
Kensington is getting ready for Christmas! Everyone was out hanging their lights. That's always fun. Of course, I'd say they're a little behind schedule!

Did It Again
I wasn't too sure this morning because I woke up with a headache again. About once a week that has been happening. Don't know why. But I took some ibuprofin and got on the TM and ran with Billy Joel anyway. Also did my exercises. Can't seem to lose an ounce now however. Very frustrating.

Tough One!
Today I went to pliates and it might have been a little to "intermediate" for me! It was a really good class, though. Except for this one lady who kept doing things WAY out of her comfort zone. It sounds like she had a back injury or a weak back. Anyway, she kept complaining and the teacher would say, "Do this modification" or "do this stretch" but she just kept doing the move AND complaining. We get, it martyr, we get it! Now STOP!
Anyhoo! I was going to do pilates yesterday but then I saw the forecast was for rain today. So I did hills yesterday with the idea that I'd be happy for indoor exercise today. And it worked out! Rain and cold all day today. It's been really fun. Soup night!

But I've been doing stuff, for sure! Today I did Texas 3 times! Very proud! Yesterday I did a 3 mile run. Eating seems more under control. Hopefully I can keep it up!

Back at it in force today I guess! I ran Texas 3 times! So that is pretty exciting! I'm feeling a little lumpy, so that is less exciting. I really need to get my eating back in hear. But I will. Man. How am I going to survive the festival of cookies?! I just really don't know.

Pilates Fun Time!
Fun workout today. I went to a pilates class. I can sure tell it's been a few weeks since I've gone! I like this class a lot because it's filled with a variety of people. I have been to a studio that seems to cultivate all model-esque people.

I ran Texas twice today. I have to think of my schedule and figure something different out here because I'm pretty tired right after work. I'm fine now that I've done some non-work stuff, but I just need a bit of a different plan. I've been working through lunch so I can be done earlier and I'm going to stop doing that so I can see if that helps me out.

Better showing! / 3 miles
My run today was 3 minutes faster than yesterday. No idea what yesterday's trouble was but I guess I worked it out.
I wanted to tell you I've been so mad at myself for how I've been eating since I got back to SD. I had really been working on doing better and I was not doing better anymore! And then I realized.....my eating is bad because my eating is bad!
I'm funny. But I have gone back to my old habits of waiting till I'm crazy hungry to eat and, by that time, I am not in charge anymore. What I was doing was making sure to eat breakfast and lunch and maybe some fruit or veggies in between. But I've gotten back to the old habit of not eating till 11 or 12 and that just kind of ruins my self control I think.
I have still been eating a piece of bread with sun nut butter first thing in the am. But then nothing till it's too late. Hopefully I'm back on track now!
Have you noticed in changes in your eating habits since you retired? I suspect I would be snacky!

In that it was sooooo slow! And I couldn't believe it! I didn't think I was breaking records but still! But it's done and that's what counts.

Up and At It
I actually set an alarm this morning because I wanted to get my run and exercises in before going to the Veteran's Day program in Osceola at 10 am where Megan will be one of the featured speakers. And I did. 3 miles on the TM and all the exercises. Right arm is a little sore from all the painting I've been doing but I managed to do 50 pushups. Only +18 here this morning at 6:30 am!

So dry! / 3 miles
I can't believe how dry it is today. I actually thought it was kinda wintery because I was cold in my place. But I went out to run and got a blast of heat and dryness. I don't like running when it's that dry. But I did it and it's done.

I overslept! Intended to get up at 7 am and didn't roll over until 7:20! Oh, this retired living. It's really becoming a problem.
Then I ran my 3 miles and did the exercises. Listended to a Mumford and Sons CD (Deluxe Companion) I found on Mom's ipod and I was not impressed. A couple songs seemed ok but the rest....boring. I should listen to it when I'm not running though to give it a fair shake I guess. Wonder where I'll ever find the time for that.

Today I only ran one hill. It's been so long that my lungs were just burning up by the time I got to the top. And, actually, I think the fact that I haven't been feeling great caused some of that burning, too. But I did one. And I'll do more maybe Friday.

Good run today - 3 miles. Busy out there! Lots of other runners so it makes me wonder if some local race is coming up. I did listen to my pace music today so my run was a bit faster than yesterday.

I did something! / 3 miles
I'm feeling a lot better today. Possibly because I went to sleep at 9 pm last night. But I woke up feeling really good. Yay!
I went for a good run this afternoon. I listened to my audio book because I was not really invested in the run so I figured that would keep me going. Then I did some pushups and situps. Not as many as you, though!

Every Day is Monday Now
I use to love Mondays because it was always my day off but every day is Monday now. Still seems very odd. Anyway, I did my 3 miles on the TM and the pushups and situps. All went well.
I'm trying out a new pattern now that every day is my own. Run 3 days, take the 4th day off, run 3 days, take the 4th day off. That way I'll run 6 out of every 7 days but still have every 4th day off to rest. So today was the 3rd day of running in the second set of days and tomorrow will be a day off. That's good, too, because we plan to go to Sam's Club and Cub tomorow and do our bi-monthly shopping. Need energy for that!

Good Intentions
I had them for sure. I'm going to Duluth today to take your Grandma out to lunch so I set my alarm (1st time!) for 6:45 so I could get my run in before leaving. Alarm went off, I said to myself, "I'll just lay here for 5 minutes." Next thing I know it is 7:50!! So, no running today except to see Grandma.

What a crazy busy day! I was going to run earlier and just got so wrapped up with work that I didn't do it till maybe 4. But I did it and that's what counts. It was a little slower because I listened to my audio book rather than pace music. Oh well!

Run / 3 miles
We have been having such a nice storm! I actually thought I would get rained out of my run today. Rainy and I even heard thunder this morning. Well....I think I heard thunder! But it was a weird mix of clouds, sun, clouds, sun. So I got my run in during a sunny bit and called it good.
Also did 12 pushups. Meant to do 24 but I totally forgot the other set!

On A Mission Now
I did run 3.05 miles this morning on the TM and did 50 pushups and 50 situps. Felt like I hadn't run or done anything for 2 months instead of only 2 weeks. I plan to do 50's of the pushups and situps this week and get back to 75's next week. The 3 miles though felt like twice that. But I am back on track and back in gear.
Good thing, too, because I am up 4.4 lbs since I ran the Whistlestop! Ouch! That's not going to last! We ate way too much in Branson and now we'll pay for it. Mom isn't as bad off as I am though. Think she only gained 1.5 lbs.

I have something to report!
We arrived here in Ames, Iowa after 8 hours in the car and I went for a quick 2 mile run up and down the road at the motel. Nice and level, good shoulder to run on, about 60 degrees. Very nice. Felt good. No fitness center here so thought I better do something tonight because it will be too cold in the morning. Home tomorrow night and then no more excuses!

Back in gear / 3 miles
I went to bed at 8:15 last night. Actually, I went to bed at 8 and was sleeping by 8:15! And I slept hard until 5. Flopped around till 5:30.
So great sleep!
And I did run 3 miles today. My pace was my best "free" pace (non-treadmill) in a long time. And I'm sure it's from just those couple days on the treadmill.
Also did two sets of 12 pushups. So I'm doing some more! And some squats and ab stuff.
I don't know how I didn't gain weight on vacation, but I guess I didn't!

A hill!
Today I made my own hill at the Wayne Deloach Boutique Gym. I put the incline to 5 and the speed to 4. It took me 15 minutes to get to a mile. Then I called it good!

Yay Treadmill!! / 3 miles
It was 38 degrees when I woke up today. And I woke up during actual daytime! In a non-winter month!
So I'm so glad for your treadmill. I did three excellent miles. I set it to 6.2 and a .5% incline (down from your impressive 1.5!).
I was very hot and sweaty when I was done.

Yes, I did. Got up at 6:00 and did 3 miles on the TM plus most of my exercises. That muscle in my right leg is bothering me again though. Hmmm... Felt good to do something again though.

Hypothermia Alert!! / 3 Miles
I'm here!
I ran outside today! I know, I'm nuts! When I started out I was pretty sure that I would be returning with frostbite. But no! I survived. Actually, it was very nice after the first mile and a half.
Good pace. I think the cold encouraged me to run faster. You know the motto. The faster we run, the faster we're done!

Spooktacular Run! / 3 miles
It is Halloween in Kensington! Everyone has their decorations out and it is super cute. Made me smile. Or grimace. I feel like I smile HARD when running. So I guess that can me my running Halloween decoration!

Whistlestop 2013
I ran the Whistlestop Half Marathon this morning. Very nice weather this year. About 60, party cloudy, pretty windy but didn't bother much running on the trail in the trees. My time was 2.25. Missed my perseonal best by 4 minutes but I really didn't feel into it today. Just glad I got it done.

It's been awhile so I had a goal of doing Texas 3 times, but I wasn't sure how that would work out. But cooler weather makes an absolute world of difference. I did do it 3 times! It was challenging, though.
Yesterday and today we have just had perfect weather.
Came home and did some crunches, weights, squats.
Now I'm just kicking around here and soon we'll head to the Polish festival. It's the one Mom's haircutter lady told her about! I looked it up and we're able to go. So we'll have delicious Polish food. Which is a giant part of the reason I wanted to run Texas 3 times!

It's supposed to be 54 degrees, party cloudy, and breezy tomorrow morning in Ashland. Should be very nice and will be much nicer than it's been the last two years when it's been cold, very windy, even some rain.

Brrrr! / 3 miles
Cold one over here with a high of 72. I know you shiver! Tomorrow? Supposed to be a high of 64 with a chance of rain! Pretty darn exciting!

Good Run / 3 miles
Not my all time best, but it was a good outing! I ran in the am because I wanted to skip the heat. Which I did.
It's supposed to cool down here, and I hope that's true. I'm a broken record, but I'm over the heat!
Also, I did 2 sets of pushups today. 12 each.
I will also tell you that I woke up this am, saw it was 5:30, and went back to sleep. Who am I?!

2013 Record!
42 and cool but sunny with no wind so I ran outside and it was great! 29.11 for 3.01 miles. Best I've done this year and getting close to my best ever time. (I think that was 28.47 the first year I was running.) I was amazed when I turned the corner at 1.5 miles and saw my time. So I just kept pushing. Very pleased.

Pilates
I went to pilates today. Really good class. I like this particular studio but, sadly (well, not really - replace "sadly" with "whatever"), they are just too pricy for me. I got a buy one get one free deal for new clients only. But, otherwise, their classes are between 18 and 20(something) dollars per class. It just depends on the pack you buy. I can find cheaper. And, frankly, just as good. I'll admit, it's a nice studio and the class sizes are a lot smaller. 5 students rather than 10 - 15. So I totally get that I'm getting more attention and they need to make up for the smaller classes. But I'll go cheaper.
I'm trying something new with my sleeping. You know how sometimes I am wide awake at 3:30 am so I just decide to get up? Well, I'm making myself stay in bed. And, actually, I've been able to go back to sleep. I think it was different with that other job where I would just start worrying. What's that word again?

It's another wet day here. Big thunder and lightning storm just after midnight and it just poured rain for half an hour or so. Had a full inch in the rain gauge this morning. Still spitting rain out there now so I ran inside again. 3 miles on the TM. Went better today. Not sure why but felt like it was the best run of the week.

Cold and Wet Morning
Well, it was 50 degrees out there but windy and misty so I opted for the TM again today. Did my 3 miles plus the pushups and situps. I was like you were yesterday. Not really into it but managed to get it done. I'm in the tapering down mode now before the Whistlestop next Saturday. I keep thinking maybe Angie will cancel out but she hasn't!

Sure can tell I haven't been over to Texas for a bit. Only did one run up it today. It broke me! We're going to be having more of San Diego: Extreme Heat Edition over the weekend so I don't know that I'll get to work on hills for a bit here yet. Someday fall will come though. Someday!

Good run today! Listened to my pace music again.

Gandy Dancer Day
I ran 6 miles on the Gandy Dancer this morning from Al's Diner in Centuria to the Info Center in St. Croix Falls. Not another soul on the trail anywhere today. Beautiful run. Leaves starting to turn but only the sumac is really colorful yet. About 60 degrees and pretty windy in the open spaces but there aren't many of those along the trail as you know. Mostly in the trees. I love that trail! Didn't break any records this morning but did it in 1.02 so I was happy with that. I ran too soon after eating breakfast though. I know I need 90 minutes at least so was burping up some oatmeal at 4 miles which wasn't too pleasant. Other than that, a very nice run. Wish you had been here to enjoy it with me!

Dry! / 3 miles
Wow, it's dry today. I thought we would have hot winds, too, but looks like maybe we're just getting the Santa Ana dryness. Looks like we're at our high (so they say!) of 84 with 15% humidity.
I did a quick 3 mile run today and called it good!

Windy Morning
It's supposed to start raining sometime this morning and it's been very windy ever since we got up so it just might blow something in. Temp was 60 when I was ready to go but I opted to run on the TM because of the wind. Two weeks from today I'll have to run out there no matter what the weather (Whistlestop) but today I had a choice and I chose to stay inside. Good strong run and then did my exercises.

Pilates Fun
I finally got to a pilates class this week! And it was really really fun again! I'm glad I could go at lunch because one of my coworkers was sharing her crank and negativity so I got out and had a great time. And it got me back on track.
I suspect I will be very sore tomorrow! But that's ok. Lots of upper body stuff and that is what I really need to work on. I'm in good shape but my upper body is week, comparatively.
I had a really weird night of sleep last night! I woke up at 3:33. I thought my alarm when off. But I opened my phone to turn it off and saw that it wasn't my alarm and that it was a disgusting time to get up anyway! So my sleepy brain then thought someone must have called me and that is why my phone was making noise. But no. Nobody called. And, let's face it, my phone didn't make any noise. I must have dreamed it!
But I was awake. And I almost got up. But I made myself stay in bed and I did fall back asleep.

Tired! / 3 miles
Woo boy, I'm tired today. Busy week. But I did run today, even though I wasn't really feeling it. Just kind of worn and blah. Got it done, though.

Unique Excuse = Flu Shot
Yeah, you saw that right. I had a flu shot yesterday afternoon and by last evening I was so stiff and "achy" I thought I was getting the flu! Neck, shoulders, back....all just very achy. I couldn't go to sleep and was up until after 1:00 am. So you know what happened when the alarm went off at 6:00 am! I moved it to 7:00 and rolled over. Feel fine this morning so it was just the shot doing its thing I guess. Anyway, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

48 and no wind at all at 7:00 am so I ran outside. Very nice. Went well. I tried running like Megan showed me but I couldn't get it. Will have to have another lesson and keep trying. Not natural for me that's for sure.

Quick Run / 3 miles
I didn't think if have time to run today because I knew if be so busy. But I did and I'm glad because my teacher had to cancel piano tonight. Her friend was in the hospital. So I did have more than enough time!
Hot though. And it is going to warm up here again. We will see 90 this weekend I guess!
A Fresh Start
Ok, so I got up at 6:00 and got back into my normal morning routine. Devotions, run, exercises, breakfast, computer....and pretty soon work. Wonder how that will change in a month. Won't be getting up at 6 that's for sure!
Did my 3 on the TM this morning. 47 outside and not too windy but still dark and I don't like running in the dark. Afraid someone will run me over! Good run on the TM though and exercises went well so I'm back on track.
Tried running like Megan showed me last night....more pushing off with the front of my foot...hard to do but it does change your gait. The Army says that's the way to do it. She's running 7 minute miles! But I don't know what she can do over a longer distance.
I heard from Garmin support and they will repair the watch for $89 plus tax and shipping. So, a hundred bucks? Think I'd rather buy a new one. The cheapest model is $129 but doesn't work with a foot pod. Well, I don't really need that when I'm inside on the TM anyway. Thinking about it. Maybe I should look at Craigslist!

Good Run / 3 Miles
Well, I finally got back out there today. As you already know, I was pretty committed to it based on the fact that I knew I was having a cheeseburger for lunch. And I did. And it was delicious!
So, 3 miles. Pretty good pace. Better than it has been, anyway.

Slow Run
Can't really explain it. Weather was nearly perfect. 48 when I left the house, very light breeze out of the west, not raining. Had a good night's sleep. Nothing hurt anywhere. But I went around the 6 mile block and felt like I walked as much as I ran. 6.07 miles in 1 hour 5 minutes so about 6 minutes off my best pace on the Gandy Dancer. Of course, no uphills on the Gandy Dancer! So, not the best effort but I got it done.
The lap/reset (save) button on my Garmin is just plain done I guess. The thing will save the run when I connect it to the computer. Apparently the software is set to do that so for now that's what I'll have to do. Connect it after every run and let the software do its thing. Not really a problem as long as I've got the desktop or laptop with me.

Outside
It was 56 at 7 am, cloudy, and calm winds so I ran the 3 outside this morning. Felt good to be back out there. Went fine. Did all my exercises when I got home.
Having trouble with my Garmin. Have had some trouble with the buttons not working over the last couple of months but this morning the "save this run" button will not work at all. Have reset it according to instructions to no avail. Will play with it some more tonight.

Pilates
I decided to go to a pilates class today. It's more of a resistance training class and didn't require any cardio type stuff, so my ankle was not "worked". But the rest of me was and I'm exhausted. I actually cannot believe how wearing these classes are. I suppose it's just so different my body is confused!
I really want to keep working on my upper body strength. Pushups will help!
My ankle feels good today but I have been resting it and will continue to do so.

Indoors Again
58 degrees when I got up and thought I would run outside in spite of intense fog and some wind. Really, really foggy. But then it started to rain and because I'm trying desperately to protect my health here in these last few weeks I decided not to run out there and get wet and chilled. While I was on the TM Mom said it poured for about 15 minutes so glad I was inside. Anyway, did the 3 miles plus the pushups and situps.

I almost titled this "brrrr" but I already didn't tell you I hurt myself when I talked to you (cause I didn't want to even think about it!) and I think I was going to avoid it again. So I decided to name it ouch and tell you I've hurt myself. I know how, though. And I won't do that anymore!

Exercise 3 is my culprit, I am pretty sure. Anyway, I have a very very tender ankle. And I ran on it even though it hurt! It stopped hurting after warmup. But I'm sure having trouble here tonight just walking around.
So I might take tomorrow off running. Just to let it rest. And I'll stick to the other exercises they show!

Good Morning
About 50 when I went outside at 8:00 am for 3 miles. Wore long sleeves and long pants and was glad I did. Breeze from the south was cold! Had some soreness in the muscles in the front of my legs today and think it was from being on the TM yesterday. You wouldn't think there should be such a difference between the TM and the pavement but there sure is. I feel it every time I move from one to the other. Anyway, got it done in ok time. Not a record but 10.04 so that was fine. Did the pushups and situps when I got home.

Woo Hoo Pilates!
I went to a new studio today and had the best pilates class ever. EVER. How is this possible, you ask? Well, the place was so nice and bright. They had these covers over their ceiling lights so it was all sunset and butterflies when you looked up. The teacher was so inclusive. Sometimes I feel like classes are very clicky. Everybody knows their pals and they don't talk to others at all. And this class was not like that at all. There were a few really big ladies there, so it wasn't all skinny sticks getting skinnier. The instructor was hilarious. It was challenging but she was very clear on how to modify the exercises to make them easier, if needed. She knew everyone's name. Even mine.

Only 42 here at 7 am when I was redy to go out so I decided to see if the TM still works. And it does. Did my 3 there and then the pushups and situps. I know I need to get out thre and get use to the cooler temps but just didn't feel like that today.

Yay cooler weather! / 3 miles
So great. I had such a busy day today and didn't even have a chance to contemplate running until 4:30. A week ago that would have been an impossibility due to the heat. Today? Awesome. Beautiful. Delightful.
I ran 3 miles. My book is getting very exciting - near the end. Cannot wait to find out what happens!
Did some weights and situps when I got back. Now I'm making dinner.
My weight is doing pretty good. I'm up from that mystical 127 but I'm still under 133. Even if that's just by a pound or two. And that's fine by me! I am, though, worried about when the weather gets colder. It is not so easy to eat a snack of a red pepper. You know? For whatever reason, I think the body might crave the heavier food in the cold months. That's what I'm thinking. But I'm actually planning for success, despite what it may sound like!

Only 58 degrees when I left the house. Weather Channel said it was still 90% humidity but it didn't feel like it because it was so nice and cool. Very pleasant for a run this morning. And the scale went the other way today! I will never understand the mystery of weight. Up, down, all around. Makes no sense to me.

What a beautiful beautiful day! 76 for the high. Just absolutely delightful. It has been miserably hot for a couple of weeks now so this was quite the treat.
And it made my run very enjoyable. No faster, but I will just say I allowed myself to enjoy it longer!

More Sauna Running
70 degrees and 91% humidity at 7:00 am. This is supposed to be the last day of it though. Hope they are right about that. I did the 3 miles and my exercises and was soaking wet when done. Felt good though. Saw my neighbor Fitnatic on the road, too, so that was fun!
You'll be glad to know that our scale is not broken after all. And it wasn't set on its maximum! It will go 6/10's higher! I didn't need to see that but there it was. Too much corn on the cob, butter, and salt. Had the last of it last night though. We've had very good corn this year! And lots of it.

More Pilates!
I slept till 8 this morning, which is pretty major for me! Around 9:30 I thought I would run but realized it was pretty hot already. Checked the weather and saw it was already 85. So that's too hot to run! I went to a class instead.
And....hard! This one was a hybrid class. Half spinning (bikes - I don't know if you've done that before) and half strength on the reformer.

Hot and Humid
I didn't leave the house until 8 am and it was already 72 degrees and about 75% humidity. Very warm run. I just did the 3 miles today plus the full set of pushups and situps when I got home. I have to start upping my mileage to get ready for the Whistlestop 5 weeks from today!!
Our scale is broken. Or else it has a maximum setting it's set to 180.2 lbs. That is what I have weighed now for 8 days in a row. I've heard of leveling off and if I could level off 10 lbs lighter I wouldn't complain. This is ridiculous!
I hope Amy did well in the 5K she was running this morning.

I did it! Texas, 3 times! I went early(ish) but it was still hot. Well, getting hot. I'm glad I got it done. If I do it in the AM it's cooler but insanely humid. If I wait for the afternoon, the humidity is substantially less but it's too hot!

Good Morning
59 degrees, cloudy, no wind. Perfect for a nice 3 miles. This is exactly how it's gong to be for the Whitstlestop on October 12th. (I hope.) No records this morning but a nice run plus all the pushups and situps when I got home.

Raw Meat! / 3 miles
I don't know for sure what raw meat feels like but I think I kinda feel like it! I ran today. 3 miles. Then did some weights. Then I decided to a Pilates class. And, wow, am I broken.
I bought a groupon to this place ages ago but never used all my sessions because of work. So I went today. And they've changed their studio so its not Pilates but it uses the reformer for a full body workout.
Anyway, will I run tomorrow? Doubtful! I'm a meat sack full of ouch!

Hills / 2x
Seems a little bit cooler today. I'm not sure because I'm getting differing information from my various weather services. For example, it is humid. But I have a very hard time believing it's actually 95% humidity. Another services says it is 70%. One says it will be a high of 84 today. The other? High of 91. Sooooo....who knows!
But it does seem a bit cooler. Cool enough, in fact, that I went over to Texas St. I told myself that I only needed to do it once. Because I wasn't going to force it if it was just plain too hot. But I did it twice. Top of the second I just thought I'd get too overheated if I did it again, so I didn't!
I did pushups when I came back.
I'm pretty darn sore in my core today! I'm glad I went to pilates yesterday. I've really missed it and my soreness today gives me evidence that it also missed me! Taking classes can be pretty expensive, though. So I think I'll just keep my eye on Groupon and buy through them. I won't be able to go to just one studio with this method, but that's OK by me!

Record Tiime!
You heard that right! I ran 6.01 miles on the Gandy Dancer this morning in 59.46!! Under an hour!! Never done that before. 1.03 was my previous best for 6 miiles when I ran it with you that time. Pace of 9.57. Wow. And I felt pretty good. It was cold this morning though. 55 when I left the house, cloudy, wind out of the north so when I was in the open it was cool. Of course, I warmed up but it was cold again when I stopped running. But, wow, I was very pleased with myself!

Pilates!
How long has it been since I've talked about pilates? A long time! But I woke up this morning and was hot from the minute I got out of bed and I just didn't feel like running. And so I looked around for a pilates class and found one that was at noon. It was good and I bet I'll be darn sore tomorrow.
I've missed pilates and have been getting a little running bored so I am going to spice my schedule up with some pilates again.

Hot run / 3 miles
Hot and humid again today. Better than yesterday, though, I think. I made myself get up early today so I could run. I'm a little worn because I want to bed at 2 and got up at 7. But I'm glad I did it because it was already getting too hot when I left.
Got sidetracked on my way out by a neighbor who has apparently been watching me run for years so he wanted to talk shop. He was just returning from his run. Said he ran his first marathon in Hawaii in 1974!
Did 13 push-ups. Just didn't have more in me.
I also had a couple walks today. Walked to piano lessons and then took probably a 3 mile mosey just to get out of the house. Well, actually to get iced coffee but the shop was closed today! But I waked to 30th, then to El Cajon. Then walked 30th to Adams and then home.
I'm tired. And hot! Listening to a great audiobook called Elantris. Love it.
Around the Block
Only 62 out there this morning. Humididty is still at 90% or so but it was wonderful. Gorgeous morning. This is supposed to be our last hot day for a while they say. About 90 later today then storms tonight and only into the 70's the next several days. Anyway, I ran around the 4 mile block and it was a beautiful morning. They have the new paving on 140th Avenue and it's like the King's Highway. Very nice. Pace wasd 10.42 so not the best but ok. I guess I need to do what you do and practice on some hills. Gardening and mowing on my list for today.

Back in Business! / 3 miles
I finally ran today! It's 88 here now at 11:30 so I'm glad I did it early or it wouldn't have gotten done. I imagine it will get a little warmer and stay that way for the rest of the day.

Sauna Running
74 degrees and 92% humidity at 6:45 am so 2 miles was enough again today. Really felt like I was running in a sauna. Did all the exercises when I got home. Feeling very tired today though. Slept all right I thought but maybe not.

Better Today
66 when I left the house so much cooler than the last two days. 89% humidity though so that's still up there. Into the 90's again today. I ran the full 3 miles today and it went well. 30.02 so pretty good for the old man! Plus all the situps and pushups. And, yes, I agree that we are doing them right!

2 Miles Was Enough
It was 76 degrees and 83% humidity when I left the house at 6:45 am. I planned to do the full 3 miles but it felt like I was running in a sauna. So I turned around at a mile and made it just 2 today. I was soaked in sweat by the time I got back to the house. Ick. Then I did all my pushups and situps.

Crazy day! / 3 miles
It's so nuts - it's getting hotter as the day progresses! I just turned on the AC at 3:30! I guess it's only 84 so it must be humid or something.
But I did run today. 3 miles. And then I did pushups (I don't touch my nose to the ground either!) and squats and abs. So all around!
I am making a salad with lamb on top tonight. It will be healthy. But will it also be delicious? I'll report back!

Catching Up! / 3 miles + Hills
Well, I didn't post yesterday! And here I am just about to go to be (yes, yes, at 9! Hey, I'm old!) and realized I didn't post yet today! Geesh!
Yesterday I ran Texas. I only did it twice though. Why? Because I had to pee soooo much. I seriously considered finding a place by the road but there are too many cars and I know homeless people live on that hill so I thought better of it and just went home. Well, it's not like it's got a homeless camp. There just seems to be one living kit on the hill. But still, I realized it's not my best choice!
And today I ran 3 miles. And it was great. Probably because I've given up (for now) on We're Alive and am listening to a new book. And I love it.
Did pushups today. But only 12 + 5. I just wasn't really into it today.

Another Gorgeous Morning
68 when I left the house but that wasn't until 8:15. Slept in a little this morning. Nice but very windy here today so when I turned around and headed south that wind hit me like a wall. Surprised me. Meant the run back was 30 seconds slower than it's been all week. Oh well. Felt good to be out there.

Back in Business / 3 miles
Good run this afternoon. 3 miles. Kinda warm - 83 today! Beautiful day, that's for sure.
I did 24 pushups again! 2 sets of 12. Oh, I was surprised, but my abs really have been sore. I forgot how much pushups impact the entire body. But last night they were very sore. Must have been the pushups I did on Tuesday.

We have just been having the most gorgeous mornings lately. We do need rain, however. Dry as can be here. But otherwise it's been beautiful. Today was another one. I ran teh 3 miles in perfect conditions. 55 when I left the house, sun just coming up, no wind. Just beautiful.

Warm Morning
72 at 7:00 am here and humid. Going into the 90's today. But I went out and ran the 3 miles in under 30 minutes again. 29.35 this morning. I was soaking wet from sweat though by the time I was done. Might take tomorrow off.

Did my 3 miles today. Absolutely beautiful day but a little hot for running! Good thing I have to take a couple days off. Just busy!
Also, proud moment. I did 24 pushups today! Not all at once. I did 12, took a break for squats (some break, huh?!), then did 12 more.
Another Good Run
Again, wow. I wasn't even really aware how well I was doing. But I did the 3 miles in 29.47 so my pace was under 10.0 again. That's the first time I have been under 30 minutes since almost a year ago. Feeling good. 64 when I left the house and didn't feel as humid as yesterday. Going past 90 later today. Also did the 75 pushups and 75 situps but they really felt like work today. Could hardly do the last few of each.

Texas x3!
Today is the first day in quite some time that I've done this hill 3 times. When I was half way done with my second ascent, I thought, "Why not just do 2 and save the 3 for Wednesday?" And then I realized. Today I have time. Wednesday? Who knows! So I did the 3. Very challenging. But I did it.
I also did 12 pushups and pretended to do crunches. Only pretended.
I did really well with my eating again this weekend. I think that the eating first thing in the am is really a game changer. That and I'm really trying to pay attention and not just eat out of habit.

A Slow 4 Miles Today
I ran around the 4 mile block here this morning but it wasn't record time for sure. About average. 64 when I left the house and 69 when I got back. 74% humidity acvcording to the Weather Channel but feels like 90% to me. Very humid out there. Going to be a hot week here with temps in the 90's the next couple of days. I will run earlier the rest of the week so shouldn't be too bad.

Soooo slow! But it was good and fun to be out. Really beautiful day! Lifted some weights and still need to do abs. Bit I'm cooling off a bit.
I brought my exercise ball home from work and used it to do squats yesterday. I put it between my back and the wall and it helps with form. And I'm feeling it today!

Another afternoon run. Nowhere near as awesome (or fast!) as yours, but it's done. Also did some abs and pushups. Still on 12 pushups.
Best Run Since Forever!
Wow! I ran those 3 miles this morning and my pace was 9.55!!!! Yes, that's right. Under 10.0!! I cannot remember running under 10 since forever. And I wasn't really aware that I was running faster than I have been but, obviously, I was. Both the iPod and the Garmin agreed. My goal all summer has been to get to at least one run where I was at 10 or under and here it is!!
I am feeling good, heel and ankle are just fine and haven't bothered me for weeks now. My weight is down 6 pounds from my vacation high. All to the good! And I did all 75 pushups and situps this morning, too. On a roll.....

Hills! / 2x
Today I did Texas two times. Very challenging. Even a week off from that is too much! Also did weights and situps.
So my weight is going well. I think I mentioned that I'm eating the moment I get up. A piece of ww bread with PB or sunflower butter. And it's really changing the dynamic of my food day. Crazy how such a little change is having such a big impact. But it is. For the past few years my non-winter and non-stress normal has been 135. Although I really really struggled with that this winter. Anyway, the past couple weeks I've been at 127 or 128. It's possible my scale is broken! But, honestly, that's the only real change I've made. It's summer to I'm eating healthier and lighter (as one tends to do in the summer). But I'm giving a lot of credit to this eating first thing business!
I'm actually kinda concerned that my scale is broken because I don't feel like I'm a lot different from 135! So that might be the case. Who knows! All I know is that my pants fit and as long as that's the case, I'm content.

Not fun today. It was just too hot! The high was only 76 so I'm surprised that I thought it was too hot, but there you have it! I was hot, it wasn't fun, and my pace was really slow.
On the plus side? Tomorrow has to be better!

I Forget!
I forgot to report in this morning! Must be getting old or something. I did get up and run the fitnatics 3 miles. Front part of my legs are a little sore from yesterday's long run but I did it. Then I came home and did 75 pushups (very hard work!) and 75 situps (also hard work). Why are we torturing ourselves like this again?

To keep my vacation fantastic, I did not weigh myself! And I probably won't till Friday! I can tell I was eating a lot, though, because I'm a lot hungrier than I was before I left.
But back on track today and I did run this afternoon. 3 miles. Listened to that pace music again. No idea why! But it went better and my time was a lot better than the last outing with this music!

Gandy Dancer Fun
I LOVE that trail!! And this morning it was my private domain. Never saw another person anywhere near it. 64 degrees, sunny, slight breeze, absolutely perfect. 6.02 miles with no stopping and no walking. Pace was 10.50 overall. Am I pleased with myself? You bet cha!

Back on the Road
My left hand is still itching this morning and I'm wondering how long this will go on. But I slept fine and got up and did my 3 miles (pace 10.10!) and the pushups and situps.

Well, another night of poor sleep. You know how they say old people need less sleep? Maybe I'm at that threshold. Because I'm not all tired. Maybe I just need less sleep in the summer.

Day Off
I hadn't planned to skip today but I got stung by "something" between my first and second fingers on my left hand yesterday and it hurt like heck! Not your typical bee or hornet sting. I mean, this really hurt. And it hurt all night and itches like mad this morning. So I didn't sleep well at all. Mom said I woke her up several times moaning and I know I was up and down several times. The swelling and redness are down this morning but it's itching like crazy. Putting cortisone cream on it. So I was in no mood to get up at 6!

AM Run / 3 Miles
This morning I thought that I might also run some hills this afternoon but, turns out, I'm worn! But I did run this morning. To regular music not pace music! And it was quite evident in my time.
Beautiful here today - 70 or so.
Also did some pushups. I need to work harder on that. I'm not getting far (read:anywhere!) with my plan to get to a high number and transition from the knees. I used to be so good at them!
ETA: I had a monarch butterfly racing with me for a bit today. Up a hill, so it was helping and encouraging me!

On the Road Again
This morning I ran around the 4 mile block and the run itself went fine. However, they have stripped the blacktop off of 140th Avenue in preparation for resurfacing it so that stretch was hard to run on. Very gravelly and washboardy. Hey, I can make up words! Anyway, I won't run there again until it's been resurfaced. 170th Street which is gravel is a much better surface but, of course, that's always been gravel and well maintained. 140th is just a mess right now. Nice morning. Cloudy, 58, slight breeze. We had 2/10's of an inch of rain early this morning.

Weird Run! / 3 miles
Why weird? Well, I have this pace music I downloaded some time ago. 180 beats per minute. And I used that today because I figured it would help speed me up. I usually don't use it because it's all electronica. But anything in the effort for a better time! Anyway, my time was 2 or 3 minutes more than it has been! Go figure!

Good Intentions
I had planned to run around the 4 mile block here this morning and was all pscyed up to do it until the phone rang at 5:30 am telling me about a death in the congregation. (Steve Tolzman - did you go to school with any of their kids?) So I hurried out of here and 10 miles south of Dresser to be with them a while. He's had cancer and it was not a surprise. Just too tired now to run so will get busy with some garden stuff instead.

Excellent Run Today
It is bursitis in my left shoulder. Got a shot of cortisone in there yesterday morning and it was already feeling much better by evening. Had my best night's sleep in a week and that meant my best run in a week, too. Went very well. No walking and good time. 3 miles in 31.1. also got 50 pushups and 50 situps done. Doing 50's this week and back to 75's nect week (I hope).

Raining This Morning
Not heavy or hard but enough to force me to fire up the TM and run 3 miles inside. First time in a couple months I've had to do that. Went ok and then did 50 pushups and 50 situps. Think I may be getting some burcitis (?) in my left shoulder though. Could hardly get my shirt up over my head and the pushups were hard to do. It's been coming for several days and getting a little worse each day it seems. My advise to you? Don't get old!

Uff Da!
It wasn't pretty and it wasn't fast but I did the Fitnatics 3 miles. Haven't run on pavement for more than 2 weeks so could feel that in my calves and I ended up walking some of it. My goal will be to run the whole thing by the end of the week.

Off Now While Traveling
I won't be running again now until Monday morning when I will do the Fitnatics 5K and get myself back on track. I did pretty well on the farm and ran every morning but one. Just two miles a day but at least I was doing something. But this morning (Friday) we were up early because there's so much to do to close the place up for the season and these next two days of traveling make it hard to get a run in. So, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Run and a hill! / 3 miles
Well, I'm in love with an audio book again! I ran 3 miles this morning and, after work, decided to do a quick hill just because I wanted to listen to my book some more. How long has it been since I've done that? Since I was listening to the Poison Study series, I'm pretty sure. As much as I loved Tavi, Hadrian, and Royce, apparently it's the books with the strong female lead that lead to obsession!
So, anyway, I had a good run this am. Then I did some abs. No arms - I'm sore! And then I went over to Texas tonight and just ran it once.
Best part of my day? Reading my running partner's post!!
So, anyway, I had a good run this am. Then I did some abs. No arms - I'm sore! And then I went over to Texas tonight and just ran it once.

You've Been Busy!
Glad to see you've been keeping up while I'm away. Actually, I have been, too. Not my usual 3 miles but I have been running 2 miles each morning. Yesterday was my best run. It was cooler and very nice for running. It's been in the low 70's by 8 am each day otherwise so it's been warm for running. But yesterday was great. About 62 when I went out. I'm at Ralph and Nancy's house this afteroon checking up on things so that's why I'm online now. Keep it up!

It's a boy! / 3 miles
Yep, cause I know you wanted to know! I didn't want you to lose any more sleep over the wait. At the gas station today I heard two women talking about how "exciting" it is. Man, I guess princess dreams die hard in women. If at all! The lady folk care.
I ran today. 3 miles. And I started listening to a new audio book. I tell you, music is great for pace but I get bored with it really quickly.

Nice day! / Hills
Today was a nice reprieve from the heat and humidity. Although we do not have it tough like other parts of the country, that's for sure. But it was overcast (until 4 pm or so) and cool. Maybe 70?

Did it! / 3 Miles
I did it! Boy, I really didn't think I would based on this am and I actually decided I was not going to make myself. Especially because of the heat. It's not worth it when it's so hot. Not worth it if I'm not interested, I mean. But I did 3 (slow slow slow) miles. And now I did weights. And not I'm going to wash this sweat off me!

Hills
I don't think I've told you yet but, Saturday, Bart and I saw Pacific Rim. So much fun. I wish that you and I could see it together. I seriously loved it! Anyway, we were coming home and it was dark and we were driving south on the 805. And, as we down into Mission Valley, I could see Texas Street all lit up. And I was amazed by the length and then by the steepness. I "knew" how long and steep it was but seeing it like that really drove it home - that's a massive hill! And I felt pretty proud of myself at that moment!
And, today, I ran that hill twice! I want to get back to the 3 times, but I didn't want to brutalize myself. Maybe later this week I'll be at 3.

Better Run / 3
I forgot to post yesterday! But I didn't have an awesome run, truth be told. I didn't run until 4 pm and it was just way too hot. I only did 2+ miles. Under 2.5. Also, my day was kinda screwed up with that training so I didn't eat right and I think I was just kinda floaty. So I gave up.
But today was way better! 3 miles and then I did weights after as well as some abs. But the run was great. Hot, again, but it's summer. What can I expect!?

Bear Sighting!!!!
No kidding. I was just starting out going north and between Hankle's driveway and Christenson's driveway a small black bear lumbered across the road about a hundred feet in front of me!! I was so surprised. I've seen deer, raccoons, coyotes, turkeys, and all kinds of things over the years but this is my first bear!

Quick Run and Quick Post
Short and sweet! Both the run and this post! I didn't run till this afternoon and then I only ran one hill. And it was hard! Pretty amazing (as we've both said many times before) how quickly it goes. So I need to focus on doing hills 2x per week.

Food Diary / 3 Miles
I've really been trying to get my eating under control and, to that end, I pulled out my food diary yesterday. And it is pretty amazing to me how things sure add up. And that some foods are just so calorie dense. Frustrating and eyeopening! If I eat less will my stomach shrink causing me to be less hungry?
Anyway, onto a less frustrating topic! I had a good run today. Good pace. Better pace, I should say. I'm sticking to the 3-Mile-July commitment. Although I was already thinking, "Maybe I should do 5 on Saturday...." But I'm not going to. I'm sticking with three miles or three hills. It's my regroup month!
I contemplated hills this am but I just didn't have the mental energy for it. Maybe tomorrow.
Pushups and situps, too, today.

Hot and Humid
70 degrees and 87% humidity according to the Weather Channel but I did go out and get in 2.5 miles this morning. Just couldn't quite make it to 3 today. Like running in a sauna. But at least I got something done. I hope I'm back to my routine now.

I did manage to get up and go for a run this am. I was really playing it by ear though and not truly dedicated to the cause!
It was a good 3 mile run. Humid out here (for us!) which makes me a sweaty and slippery mess! I also did some lunges and weights when I got home.

Friday in Marion, Iowa
I did go out to run this morning but not until 8:00 and it was already 74 and humid. So I only did 2 miles and that was enough for today. I don't like to run in the heat! I know 74 sounds cold when it's over a hundred in Palm Springs but it was hot enough for me. Hope you're having a good time and don't run in that heat!

Sunday Run / 3 Miles
Today was a lovely day over in this particular neck of the woods. A bit warm but fine for a 3 mile run. I wouldn't have wanted to do more than that, though, to tell the truth. It was a good run. I did the Kensington route. Tomorrow I'll do hills over on Texas, I think.

Hotness Run! / 3 miles
Whew, boy, is it hot today! I guess it will get to 91 today. I have my AC on! I did run today but waited till it was already in the mid-80s. Not used to it being actually HOT here yet! But it is summer, I guess!

On the Road Again!
I finally got back on the road this morning! Did the Fitnatics 5K and in great time, too! Pace was 10.11 over the 3 miles. 65, cloudy, a little breeze. Very nice and much better than last Saturday! Also did my 75 puchups and 75 situps when I got home. Felt like I hadn't done those in two weeks. Hey, I hadn't done those in two weeks! So I will get back on a regular schedule starting Monday morning. But I feel good about having done this today.
The biggest surprise to me this morning? My weight is the same today as it was a week ago even though I've just been sitting around thinking about running. I'll never understand the mystery of weight.

Grandma's Half Marathon
What a great run we had this morning! Weather was cool, windy, and foggy but we ran through it all and got it done! My time was 2.28 so just 3 minutes off my best time ever and I was very pleased with that. Congratulations to us all!

Last run! / 3 miles
Well, this was it. 3 miles today. My pace, still just terrible. But I know you'll greet me with a carton of chocolate milk at the end, right?!
Two things:
1. I have new running pants and I hate them! They are so tight! I bought them in the RRS clearance store and didn't try them on so it's my own fault. I can wear them. They just....well, they don't fit! So Angie will inherit some running pants!
2. I'm already thinking of my post half running plan. I think I'm going to go back to 3 miles and hills for at least a month. Theory: that will help me get my pace back on track. We shall see!
I'm all checked in and I just can't wait to see you! We're going to have an excellent time!

Bah! / 2.9
Boy, I just was not into it today! Well, I was before I ran. But then I got bored and hungry. And I didn't go as far as I wanted. Such is life! I'm going to let it go and not be bitter. Things like this happen! Just better not happen on Saturday!

Perfect, gorgeous, can't find the words to describe this morning here. Could not be better. 70, sunny, no wind. I ran the Gandy Dancer Trail from Centuria to Klapste's house in SCF. 5.17 excellent miles. No walking. Went very well. I LOVE that trail!! Carol gave me a ride back to my car in Centuria.

Sore! / Hills 2.25
Oy! I am so sore! It has to be related to the hills I'm running. Yesterday I had serious cramps in my muscles! And the only change is the hills. So I am using some new muscles. Or extra using some old muscles. Oh, wait. They're ALL old muscles!!!

Upswing! / 5 miles
I'm feeling a lot better today. Much spicier and energetic. I think I forgot to wear that mouth guard thing the on Wednesday night. Maybe that's why I was kinda headache-y. Teeth clenching. Anyway, feeling really good today.

Wednesday Morning
It went so much better today! Felt good, ran well, did all the exercises. Much better all the way around this morning. Think I'm finally over my trail run! Feeling much better about the PLC 5K coming up on Saturday morning. Second annual youth fund raiser. I couldn't run it last year but will this year. Warmup for Grandma's.
Did I tell you that we heard on the news in Duluth on Sunday night that for the first time in their history, Grandma's has more half marathon runners than full marathon runners?

I have felt very sluggish yesterday and today. Have a "catch" in my back from some twist or turn on Saturday I suppose and that's bothering me. But beyond that, I have felt like I was starting up again after a lay off. Things had better pick up by next week or Grandma's is going to just be a very long walk!

Speaking of weight....I'm still struggling over here. Hopefully I'll remember this frustration when I start approaching my next "brownie phase". I ran just 2 miles on the boardwalk this morning. Wearing new shoes and my legs are still sore from that trail run on Saturday. Hope I get over that soon. Cool here but not raining. mom is out walking on the boardwalk now. Then lunch with grandma and home afternoon.

Didn't wanna.....
.....but I did. I'm having kinda a cranky day here. No reason why. Just not my usual, angelic self. I believe they call this "getting up on the wrong side of the bed." Actually, I think I just had a million little jobs to do and I'm kinda tired (understandable - I am 40 now!).
But I did run today and I felt a little better after. So I'm glad I did it. I drove over to Texas street and parked there. And then I ran it three times. Well, 3 up. 2 x down. Because I parked at the top.

We did it!
Today Bart and I did the 5 k we signed up for. It was at the ucsd campus in la Jolla. Didn't start till 9, love that late start! 2500 runners and all the money goes to support student organizations.
Our time was about 45 minutes. I think! I forgot my watch and we both forgot our shoe chips. Can't believe it! Oh well!
Now we need to find our next 5k!
Saturday Morning - Never Again!
I won't ever do that City of Trails 10K run again! Too dangerous. Up and down hills, rocks big and small, tree roots, mud and mush in places, and a couple of places where only a billy goat could run. Very steep on both sides and the trail is only maybe 2 feet wide there. About half the run was on the Ice Age Trail and very difficult. My number one goal quickly became not to get hurt and I did accomplish that. 1 hour and 16 minutes for me to finish but I didn't care as long as I didn't come away with a twisted ankle or broken leg. Even at that I was 2nd place in my age group. Of course, there were only 2 men over 60 foolish enough to sign up for this.
Mom got 2nd place in her division for the 5K walk! She was so surprised when they called out her name! Fun!

Sllloooow! / 9 miles
So I did that reverse route today. I'm super happy with my run overall but my pace! Very frustrating. Oh well. Anyway, it was good - Kensington first, then the hill. Then abs.

Cool (50) and misty this morning but not windy so I ran the 3 miles outside today. Wore long pants and two t shirts but it went fine and felt good. Will rest tomorrow to save energy for the 10K Saturday morning. Hope that goes well. Pretty small race I think.

Little Things
Well, this is weird, but I have a dinner date tonight and I'm pre-eating! I'm meeting Cindy at a burger place and I want to make good choices (or as good as possible!) and so I'm loading up on vegetables.
I didn't run today but I did lift weights and do ab stuff as well as lunges. Pretty exciting.
Say, did I tell you I weighed my weights? They ARE over 10 pounds! 13.9, actually. So I suppose each 5 lb disk is really 5 lbs but the bar and the secure-things are the 3.9.

Ugly Wednesday Morning
Cold (48), windy, and a light rain. Just plain icky out there. But not in my basement! So I did 3 on the TM plus the exercises. Went fine. Anxious to see how the heel and ankle are the rest of the day. So far, they are fine.

Copycat! / 9 Miles
Totally copied you! Well....not your pace. But don't worry. I swear I'll keep up with you at the half. I'm just having such a hard time regulating my pace right now. But I am positive I can do 11 minute miles. Pretty sure....I think.....I imagine......
But I did do 9 miles and that included the Texas hill. I really think part of my terrible time at the Nike Women's Marathon is that, while I did practice on hills, I didn't do hills as part of a longer run. They were stand alone efforts. So today I did my Texas route (4 miles) and then I did the Kensington loop that I can make 5 miles. Next time I do a 9 mile run, I'll do that backwards. Kensington first, Texas as the second part.
The hardest part was keeping going after mile 7. Sure could have used my running partner!

Fantastic Monday Morning!
What a glorious morning here in northern Wisconsin! Perfect running weather. 65. Sunny. No wind. Gorgeous! And I took advantage of it by running from home to the church. 9.03 miles in 1 hour and 39 minutes so my pace was almost exactly 11.00 minutes per mile. I'm happy with that and even felt strong at the end. I could have gone farther but my chariot and chauffer were there waiting to bring me back home. Grandma's here I come!

Dehydrated! / 5.5
I really need to pull out my camelbak and start using it. My meeting this morning was 3 hours as opposed to the scheduled 1! And so I ended up running a lot later than anticipated. 3 pm. So hot(ish) and full sun. I wanted to do 7 but I started not feeling good and called it good at 5.5. But I think beverage would have made a giant difference.
I ran the Texas route and then was going to do the Kensington Loop. But I only made it to Adams over there before I decided to stop and try again another day.

Friday Morning
I'm taking today off from work because I will be in Eau Claire all day tomorrow and Sunday for our Synod Assembly. So, I ran around the 6 mile block here this morning. 65 and sunny but very, very windy. When I turned the corner up north and headed south to come home I felt like I was running in a wind tunnel! Strongest wind I've ever run in I think. So, I walked some of it. Just couldn't keep running. But my pace was still 11.09 overall so I did ok. 6.06 miles. Not as good or as much fun as last Friday though when I had a partner on the Gandy Dancer Trail!
It was a year ago tomorrow on June 1st that I first mentioned in my daily journal that my left heel was starting to bother me some. For the previous month it had been all about the pulled muscle in my right groin area. I didn't say anything about how it started or when just that it was bothering me "some." So I will see what else I reported in the days to come.
It didn't bother me at all this morning while running but it's a little sore now that I'm resting.
Added at 5:30 pm - the heel has bothered me all day. Just don't get it. No pain or discomfort at all this morning during a 6 mile run but then when I quit running it hurts. Moral of the story? Keep running all day long!

Getting Better! / 4 miles (hill)

Did It! / 4 Miles (Hill)
You were right! I did feel more energetic today and I did get in a run this afternoon. I did the hill route and it was great! One of those runs where I felt like I was doing an amazing pace. Course I looked at my watch and that illusion was smashed but I didn't let that detract from my enjoyment. I really felt like this was my strongest run UP Texas. Good pace and I didn't feel like I wanted to quit and walk even once. So I am really getting better at that hill.

I really, really didn't want to go out there and do it this morning but I did the Fitnatics 5K. I think I strained my back yesterday power washing the deck and today was the slowest 5K I think I've ever done. It doesn't hurt really but just feels strained. Oh I didn't want to go out there this morning. Cloudy and about 50 and very windy. But I did the Fitnatics 3 and, of course, was glad I did once it was over! Also back to the pushups and situps.

A Miracle! / 4 miles (hill)
Well. I did not gain any weight at your house. Which is what I have designated a miracle. Because, well, cookies. But I did a really good job with my eating and I'm happy to report it shows on the scale. This may be a first for me!
Very pretty day today. Sunny and warm. I ran the Texas hill route today. It was slow and challenging but I didn't walk up the hill at all. It's been awhile since I've done a serious hill so I'm glad of this! I also lifted some weights when I got home.
And I went to the farmer's market! So fun! I have some fruit (strawberries, cherries, peaches) and veggies. I also have some fresh made goat milk yogurt. I had some today and it's delicious!
I did a lot of kitchen stuff today. Roasted beets and garlic. And I made greens soup. We are having a grilling festival tomorrow and I am bringing this delicious corn salad I love. Corn is made, just have to finish it up!

Great Run!!
What a great run we had together this morning on the Gandy Dancer Trail! 6 miles from Centuria to St. Croix Falls on an absolutely beautiful morning! I'm so glad we got to do this together. I love that trail. Thanks for keeping me on pace! And no walking at all. None. The old man ran the whole way!

Hello Sun! / 3 miles
What a beautiful day! At least from the inside....bit chilly out! But I did get out and have a great run. Did the 5k route. Windy on the way out, wind at my back on the way home. Best that way.
I was going to listen to my audio book but I only had about 10 seconds left! So I got on the road, it ended, and I listened to music.
Did some abs and pushups when I got home.
Now I'm going for a walk! Or I believe I am......

Thursday Morning
Only 39 when I got up and very windy today so I opted for the TM again. Yes, I'm a wimp! But I ran 3 and did the push ups and sit ups.

Brrrr! / 4 miles
What a cold (and wet!) day today! I do happen to like the rain, though. It's fun. I did get out and run despite the rain. It sure was windy as I did my first couple of miles. But I was with the wind on my way back, so that helped a lot.
Also did some ab stuff and pushups. I'm loving your blue exercise ball! Makes squats easy.

Looked like it was going to rain some more so I did 3 on the TM this morning. Went fine. Also did the full routine of exercises.

Monday Morning Sauna Run
It felt like I was running in a sauna this morning out there! I went around the 4 mile block for the first time this spring. Had to walk a couple of places because it was just so humid. Temp was 65 and very nice otherwise. Overall pace was right on 11:00 minutes per mile so not so great but at least I got it done.

5th Annual Fitnatics 5K
We ran it this morning in near perfect conditions. Not too hot, not too cold, just right. 60 and a slight wind. It went great! Congratulations to Mike (1st), Julie (2nd), and Anderson (3rd)!! Winners all the way around.

Running / 4 Miles
Well, another just beautiful day. And I had a really great run. 4 miles. Even though I didn't really feel like it. I'm glad I went even though because it was so good.
I did some pushups when I came home. I really can tell I've been working on my abs. They're sore!
I think I did well eating out. I had the salad bar (and probably went overboard on the dressing) and I had a crab cake. And the crab cake was part of their "healthy" menu. Oh, also I had grilled green beans. Tasty!

And another absolutely gorgeous day! Perfect for a run outside so I did the Fitnatics 3 miles again. Gotta be ready for Friday's big run! It went well and was fun to be out there on such a perfect morning.

Beautiful Day! / 3 Miles
Well, what an amazing turnaround! Absolutely beautiful today, even with the rain. And, actually, even the wind is fun!
I had a good 3 mile run this am. I then used your weights. the 10 pound ones. And I think maybe my 10# weights are more than 10. Because I'm really struggling with them. I wonder if that metal post in them weighs 5# or something.

Absolutely gorgeous morning out there today! Perfect running weather. 65, no wind, sunny. Couldn't be any better than that. I did the 3 mile fitantics route again and it went well. No pain.

WooHoo! / 4 Miles
Good Wisconsin run today! Unlike you, I waited for the sun to warm things up a little before I hit the road. And I was still chilly. Windy! But a good run. Really fun. And then I did a 5 minute hill on the treadmill. Followed by some pushups and lunges and such. Fun times!

Adios, San Diego! / 3 miles
Had a pretty busy day today. We met Cindy and Mike for a pre-Mother's Day/BD lunch. And then I had a bunch of getting ready tasks to accomplish. And Bart came over.
But I did get a run in. 3 miles. It was OK, but I'm really tired. So I look forward to some relaxing! I also did pushups and some plank exercises.
