Two Days in One!

Not two days in one post, but two days of exercise in one day!

I had a tough work day yesterday and ended up working a looong time and not taking a break.  So I didn't run.  But I'm not doing that again.  That is old school Director of Support behavior and I just did it by accident.  Because it's sooo easy to fall into old habits.

But I did a better job today.  I worked 8 hours, that's it.  And I also ran this morning, 3 miles.  My time wasn't that great but I really think it is because of the dryness.  It just makes running so uncomfortable.  And it was so windy.  Really pushed against me.

I also went to the gym this afternoon after work.  It was good.  Not as hard as Saturday.

Sure got busy at the gym.  Lots of runners.  I suppose nobody wanted to run outside this afternoon!

More Snow

Yes, that's right.  The ground and everything else was white here this morning and it snowed until about 9 am.  It melted off pretty quickly but I still opted for the TM again.  Had a good run, too.  Did the full 3 miles plus my 50/50 on the rest.  Groin is not bothering me at all today.  No explanation to offer.

On a Snowy Morning....

Yes, that's right!  It's snowing here this morning!  We've had 2.7 inches of rain since Sunday morning and now it's snowing.

Needless to say I opted for the TM this morning but quit when the groin muscle started to bother me which was at 1.6 miles.  I've had this a couple of times before and for no good reason just like now.    So I will just have to baby it along for a while.  I did the full 50/50 on the exercises though.

Great Run!

Again, one of the better times I've had in ages for a three mile run.  A bit longer than last Thursday, but I listened to my audio book.  I bet it would have been the same or better if I listened to music.

So, exciting.  I really think it's the gym!

Texas: Conquered!

I did it!  I feel like it's been a while since I've done the full compliment of 3 trips up Texas.  But today I did it and, well, it wasn't easy.  But it also wasn't hard. And that's a really good thing.

Kinda starting to feel like I'm getting some muscles from the gym.  At least they sure are sore!

Saturday Gym

I mixed it up this weekend!  My plan is tj do the gym in Sunday, but it was raining today. Oh. "Raining" - that's much more accurate!  Anyway, went to the gym. It was really hard today. The hardest day yet!  I suppose my muscles are a little traumatized. Getting used to if.

Osceola 5K

I did it.  I finished.  I got a t-shirt.  And I was upright at the end.  That's all that matters, right?  My time wasn't so hot but who cares about that?  The big plus at this event was all the PLC people I got to see and say hi to.  Lots of them.  That was fun.

I'm behind in posting!

Wow, the days got away from me!

I did run Texas 2 x the other day.  Yesterday was another gym day.  And today was one of my better timed runs in a very long time.

I was really happy about my run time today.  I suspect two things are at play.  The two gym days are also two days off from running.  So I think I'm a little more fresh.  Also, I've read that arm muscles help with running.  So maybe it's both.

No matter what, yay!

Short Run Today

Mom is making me take her to Sam's Club and Cub Foods this morning where we haven't been for more than 2 months.  So I just had time for a shorty plus the 50/50 this morning.  Raining here so a good day to get out and do something even if it's not our favorite thing to do.

It was only 34 and pretty windy here this morning so I opted for the warmer run on the TM.  Did my 3/50/50 routine as usual.  I really wasn't in the mood this morning but glad now that I did it.  On to my day.  Hope you have a good one!

Outside Running!

It was 52 at 8 am so I ran the Fitnatics 5K route.  Well, I ran out and mostly ran back but did some walking, too.  So nice to be outside.  Nice morning but it's not going to be that warm again the rest of the week.  So I'll have to see what each morning brings.

Weight is back up a whole pound this morning and it's all your mother's fault!

Weekend Roundup!

I did run this weekend and also made it to the gym.  And I did remember to bring a notebook!  So I made pages for each piece of equipment with info about the settings (like seat height) and weight and reps.  Then that will make it easy for me next time I go.  And I can also focus on improving since I'll be able to remember the weight I used!

Little Hills

Hello there, Garmin Friend!

You know that hill I have told you about by my work?  Well, I went over at lunch today and ran up and down that for 20 minutes.  It was fun and it was so nice to get out.  When I was in the office, I thought it was freezing.  But not so!  It was a beautiful day out!

No clue.  But I did exercise and I did post.  Or so I thought.  Anyway, today I ran again and did my 3/50/50 routine which is getting pretty boring.  Hope to get outside soon!  Only +22 here this morning but now it's going to start warming up and melting this snow.  60 something on Monday they are promising.

Ok, I just looked and guess I wrote the post but never published it.  So it's up now.

Ok, it's up but now it's wrong because that really was yesterday's exercise!

I am making some progress in the weight department.  Down 4 lbs since I left San Diego.

The gym!

I did it!  I went to the gym after work.  And it was good, both mentally and physically.  I left the office feeling really worn, but about half way through my gym time I realized how much better I was feeling.

To be clear, it's almost 8 pm and I'm officially worn again!

Forgot my notebook but I'm going to make sure to get one this weekend. 

My eating has been pretty good.  So all is well here!

Texas!

Yep, you read that right!  No gym today. I ran Texas twice. Went well.

Why didn't info to the gym as planned?  I forgot I had a haircut at 2:30. And I didn't want to fight the crowds. So rearranged my schedule and will do the gym tomorrow!  Which is fine as my abs still hurt for previous gyms.

3 miles

Better show today, I must say!  Not great, but acceptable.  I ran three miles, that's it.  Tomorrow I will go to the gym and get my weight in.

I'm doing pretty good with food right now.  I've been having a protein drink in the morning and it seems to be helping me all day.  I've been doing it for a couple months now.  Maybe more.  I forget!

Back on Track!

Ok, we are home now and done traveling for the next month!  So, I did my 3 miles on the TM this morning plus all 50 pushups and situps.  Exhausting but I am determined to get back in running shape!  Have a 5K in Osceola coming up a week from Saturday!  Hope it warms up by then!  Only 28 here this morning.

I'm glad you decided to join the gym and are going!  I am thinking about it just for weights because I will use the TM at home.  Waiting for Mom's doctor appointment tomorrow before bringing it up.  If she is able to go and walk we might do that.

One of THOSE runs! / 3 miles

Some days I feel so fast and laugh when my watch tells me that, nope, I actually ran slow. Some days I think I ran slow but find I was a lot speedier that I guessed!

Today I felt slow. And, turns out, I was slow!  I eay was in touch with myself. That's ok though. I think I just have to deal with the sore/tired for the gym for a bit before I will see results.

I am less gym sore, so that's good. I want to get a little notebook so I can keep track of my machines and the amount of weight I use.

2 day roundup!

Just a quick update!  Yesterday I ran 3 miles. Tough!  I think my muscles were gym sore. And today I ran Texas. Also tough!  Day off tomorrow. Going to the festival of books in LA with Jessica. I think it's like comic con for books. I plan on going to the gym on Sunday.

I did it!

As you know, I've been contemplating rejoining the gym recently. And today I took the plunge!  I joined and went!

I was really on the fence about it because I thought I should be doing stuff here with my weights. But I am not, so I came to grips. And I've read so much about how important weight training is. Both for health and for weightloss

Parking was a big part of my problem there before. But now I'm done with work so early that I can to before it gets too busy.

So I went and did a 10 minute cardio warmup and the lifted weights. I'm sore and tired!

On the TM

It's supposed to be 70 or so here today and I was hoping it would be warm enough this morning to run outside but, alas, it was only 31 at the time so I opted for the TM.  Did a full 3 miles plus some pushups and situps.

Then I got on the scale.....and I may never eat again.  This was a fattening trip!

Catch up! / 3 miles + a Hill Report

Guess I didn't post yesterday.  Opps!  Well, here goes!

I ran 3 miles yesterday and did some pushups and abs.  Wasn't super into it but I was glad I was doing it about a mile in.

Today I went over to Texas and ran that 2 times.  As you know, I usually do 3 times.  But it's been a week or more that I just didn't want to push it.  Also, it's very hot and dry.  We got to 90 today and I imagine -500% humidity.  So dry!  Anyway, that's not good running weather.  I went early enough that it wasn't too bad.

I have a new audio book to listen to and I'm thrilled!  I read the first book in the series.  Loved it.  Listened to the second book - loved it even more.  I don't know if the reader was just that great or maybe the author did better.  Anyway.  The third book is starting strong!  Here's the first line:

Once upon a time, and angel and a devil pressed their hands to their hearts.  And started the apocalypse.  

Now tell me that doesn't sound awesome!  Also, if you do tell me that, I totally won't believe you!

It's Dr. Schletty's Fault

Last Monday I had a temp crown put on.  It hurt but I expected that.  We left on Wednesday and it just got worse and worse.  I've been living on ibuprophen ever since.  Finally called his office first thing this morning and then waited...and waited...and waited for a return call.  By the time they called back it was 11:00 am, about 80 degrees out there, and I was in no mood for a run.  So, it's all Schletty's fault!  (He thinks I might have a "secondary infection" so called in a prescription to a Walgreen's here which we went to get and I am now taking.  Still taking ibuprofen as well.)

 Now we travel again tomorrow and the rest of the week will fly by with a trip to Chicago on Thursday.

Afternoon Run / 3 miles

I finally got my taxes done!  I never wait this long but HR screwed up our W2s and had to send corrected ones out.  Which I just received.  Anyway, I was irritated by the end of it.  Because I already did them once!  But our new health insurance has been a learning experience for everyone.

Anyway, I was not going to run today but I was so cranky by the time I was done with my taxes that I knew I needed to do it so I could un-crank!  I went around 4 pm.  It's a lot dryer than I realized.  And warmer.  I don't like running when it's so dry but that's ok once in a while.

Anyway, 3 miles.  And un-cranked!

Two Run Report

I did run 2.25 miles on Friday morning but I see that I forgot to report it here.  I jumped in the pool when I got back and then the day just got away from me I guess.  I didn't run yesterday (Saturday) but did 2.1 miles this morning.  Absolutely flat all around here so easy running except for the heat.  It was 72 at 9:00 already this morning and most of the route here is in the sun.  Needless to say I did some walking, too.  But so nice to be outside.  It's been up to 85 here by afternoon every day.

On another matter, do your SD half marathon shirts fit ok?  Both of mine say they are large but fit and feel like mediums.  Remember this happened at Grandma's a couple years ago?  Anyway, I just sent off an email to inquire.

I did it! / 3 miles!

I am so happy I have something to report!  I ran 3 miles today!  My lip is getting better and the running did not hurt it to much today.

You'd think I would have lost some weight since I've been having only smoothies but you'd be wrong. Enough said on that topic!

Did some push-ups and sit-ups. Not as many as you!!

Fort Myers Run

I didn't get on the road here until 9:30 and it was already 75 degrees so pretty warm for this cold, Wisconsin blooded boy.  But I did 2.25 miles before the heat just did me in.  But, oh, how beautiful it is here!  The houses in this neighborhood put the Kensington houses to shame!  You wouldn't believe it!  We can't believe it and we're here!  Hope to get up a little earlier tomorrow but we sat in the hot tub here until midnight and then slept in until 8:00 am!
