Back to the gym

Skipping Wednesday broke my muscles.  Like I don't feel like they are as hard as they were!  Probably not possible but....just saying.

I went today rather than tomorrow because the Rock and Roll Marathon is happening tomorrow.  And that is going to severely hamper my ability to drive anywhere!  So I switched it up.  Gym today.  Run tomorrow.

Good gym.  My warm up was walking at an incline on the treadmill for 10 minutes.  And I had fun.  I like going.

Remember Me?

I use to post here with you almost every day?  Well, get ready because I'm back on the road again!  I only did 2 miles this morning but it went well and felt good.  I also did my 50 push ups and 50 situps which I have also been neglecting.  My cross training days are over now so I pledge to be more regular in my running and in my posting.

I see you have been keeping the candle burning for us in my absence so congratulations on that!

Long day / 3 miles

Very long work day today.  But I ran!  3 miles.  I didn't go till 12:30 though, so it was hot.  Not really enjoyable.  But done!

Two day report!

Guess I didn't post yesterday.  But I did run.  It was good.  Well, fine.  Not the best, not the worst.

I don't know, I'm just not into it this weekend.  Took me forever to get motivated to run yesterday and to go to the gym today.  In fact, today, I was thinking, "Maybe I'm just not going!"  I finally did and was glad of it.  But sometimes the desire just isn't there!

I will tell you, I am for sure getting muscles!  Not losing any weight but I almost feel like I need to let that go.  Because it's just so frustrating.

Gym

What a long day.  So much work to do.  This job of no overtime is all lies!  In fact, I almost didn't go to the gym because it was so busy.  And then I just decided, "Oh, hell yeah, I'm going!"  So I did.

And I'm glad because I was a much happier person after!

I think I'm really starting to get muscles!


Weird Day! / 3 miles

Weird in that I forgot to post.  Weird in that I didn't run until 4 pm.  Weird in that I did a really bad job eating because work was so crazy.

So.  I will do a better job eating today.  Because I realized that I did poorly and it really hurt my run performance and my thinking abilities!

Actually, my run time itself wasn't terrible.  But I felt slow and sluggish.

Gym today.  I'll be nutritionally prepared for it!

Yay run!

Good run today.  Outside even!  Beautiful day for it.  Not smoky (!!) and it was actually a little bit cool out.  Very nice.

I don't know if I trust the time on my watch or not.  It says about 10.5/mile but I know it took some time to find a satellite.  So I have some doubts.

Not sure what I'll do tomorrow.  Hills or 3 miles.

Gym!

I was going to go to the gym yesterday but I just plain didn't feel like it.  I even got myself dressed to go but....nope!

I did go today and it was good.  My 10 minute warm up was walking for 10 minutes at a 3.7 pace, 8% incline.  Then I did my now normal routine of weights.

I'm feeling like I am starting to see a difference in myself and some muscles!

Pretty busy there today.

I think I'll be able to run outside next week.  It's so much cooler and nicer out.  Good weather for people, bad weather for fires.  Yay!

Marion 5K

Amy and I ran the Marion 5K yesterday morning and it was very nice.  Great route.  A couple of hills but nothing like Texas or Washington Streets!  You go through a cemetery for about a quarter mile which seemed a little strange.  But very nice all in all.  A part of this run was on the trail we are going to use for our Fitnatics 5K in June.  That's very nice.  Much like the Gandy Dancer.  595 finishers in this run according to the results page.  I was 2nd in my age group which I didn't even know until long after the run was over.  Only 4 old men in the race but I was in the top half anyway!

So hard! In a good way! / 3 miles

How can a hard run be good?  Because I actually did it, completed it, made my goal.  And, believe me, I wanted to stop!  When I was down to half a mile, that was the hardest part.

I went to the gym to run because it's just way too hot outside.  And I ran 3 miles.  1% incline, 6.0 pace.  Faster than I've gone in a long time!

Gym day!

So glad I rejoined the gym.  We're in for some more heat yet and the weather on the radio said to expect, no joke, "Areas of smoke."  So not good running outside times.

I lifted weights today.  It was really challenging, even though I didn't change the amount of weight.  I'm still not sleeping great, so maybe that's the problem.

Probably run there tomorrow.

Hot Run! / 3 Miles

I guess I forgot to post yesterday!  I didn't sleep well Sunday night, so I'll just blame the fact that I was tired yesterday.

I ran Texas, but only twice.  I could have done a third but these Santa Ana's are back with a vengeance and it was just too miserable to do a third.

To try and beat the heat/wind/dryness, I ran at 8:30 this morning.  But it was still darn hot!  I really wanted to walk when I was half way done.  It's really weird, but Kensington is so much warmer than Normal Heights.  I have no idea why.  But I can feel it when I get over there and then I always cool down a bit again when I'm back in the hood!

No more outside running for a few days.  Tomorrow is a gym/weights day anyway.  And then I'll spend a few days in the gym just so I don't have heat stroke.

And Back Indoors

This weather is nuts. So inconsistent.  Yesterday, very nice for an outside run.  This morning, not so much.  41 degrees but very windy.  So I opted for 3 miles on the TM and my 50/50 for exercises.

A New Week

And I ran outside this morning!  It rained hard during the night (1.1 inches) so there are puddles everywhere but it was not raining and wasn't windy when I was out there.  Good run.  Then did my 50/50 when I got back home.

Good Gym!

I did take yesterday off, and I'm glad.  Just had no pep!  But I went to they gym today and it was a good time.  I did mostly free weights again.  I need to organize my notebook because it's hard to find things!

I was thinking today that the half exercise ball makes a better bench than my mini-ironing board did!

The gym does have real benches.  But I can set up in the cardio room (when no class is going) and just do my thing and not worry about the muscle-y guys wanting to trade off and such.

Another day - great hills!

Seems like it's been a couple weeks since I tackled Texas.  But I headed over there today and it went great!  Did it 3 times.  It was hard and I for sure had thoughts of "I want to be done" but it seemed easier than usual.  So maybe my gym times are helping me?

I'm not as sore today as I thought.  But I am a little sore in different places.  So i think I worked some additional muscles yesterday!

Hills and Gym!

Little hills, though!  I actually was not going to do any running or hills today but work was just so busy and I had nothing to do for an actual lunch break.  And I thought, "Well, I could just keep working though lunch....NO!"  That's what I would have done in the past though!  So I put on my gear and went outside.  Just went up and down my little hill for 20 minutes.  Very enjoyable listening to my audio book.

I did the gym after work.  So busy there.  But after 4 when I was leaving?  INSANE.  Not a place to park.  Note to self: If I can't go till 4, don't go!

I did something different today in that I did more dumbbell weights than machines.  Just wanted to try something different.  Usually all of the benches are taken up so I went into the class room (where there were currently no classes) and I used one of those half exercise balls as my bench.  This:


It worked really well!  So we will see how sore I am tomorrow!

Another Day

3/50/50 I have to change something up here.  It was 50 degrees at 8 am but the Wisconsin Santa Anas were blowing!  I stepped out on the deck and was nearly blown away.  And that's no small thing at my weight!  So I opted for the TM again today.  Such a wimp.

Gummy run / 3 miles

Just one of those that felt slow and was slow!  I suppose that running and going to the gym - after several days off - made that happen.

I've sure been hungry since I got back.  Have to get out of the vacation eating mindset!

I really think I am getting some muscles.  It's exciting!  I'm not losing any weight.  AT ALL.  That is irritating.  Maybe I just need to come to grips.  Sigh.

Oh, it's me!

Long time!  I have been doing stuff, I guess I forgot to post!  So, some catch up.  One day last week I went to the gym and ran hills on the treadmill.  It was just so miserable out there with the Santa Ana's.  So I did it at the gym.  20 minutes at...dang, I don't remember the incline.  And a jog pace.

I also ran outside on Friday - my birthday run!

Today I had some making up to do.  I did run earlier today and then I also went to the gym.  I was home early enough yesterday to go to the gym but I just didn't have it in me.  But I did it today.

Pretty sluggish today but I suppose I'm just worn out from all my adventuring!

Inside Today

It was pretty cool and windy this morning so I opted for the TM.  Oh well, nicer days are coming.

Taking tomorrow off I think.

We didn't go to church until the 11:00 service in Taylors Falls this morning so I went for a short 2 mile run up and down 180th street.  It was a little cool and some wind but not too bad.  Just nice to be outside.

Outside but Tough

It was +41 and not windy so I ran outside this morning mostly because I wanted to calibrate the new nike+ sensor.  But answer me this:  why is it so different running outside and so much more work?  I guess because the TM is doing some of the work for you they say.  But geez louise.  I've been running 3 miles on the TM 4 or 5 mornings a week all winter and, yet, when I get outside, I feel like I haven't been doing a thing.  It's very discouraging.  But I did 2 miles and then my exercises so at least it was something.

Another Day

It's not snowing this morning but only 34 and windy so I opted for the TM again.  I'm really, really getting tired of it!  Ready for spring.  But I did my 3/50/50 routine and got it done.  Well, I don't think it was quite 3 though.  I had to buy a new sensor for the nike+ (first new one in almost 3 years) and it't not calibrated right for me.  It's set for a 6 foot guy with long legs I'm sure.  You know, the typical runner.  I need to get outside and run what I know is one mile to calibrate it.  One of these days.....
