I went to my ENT doc today and had another steroid shot, but this time in my jaw to combat TMJ. Last time I was there he said I had this, but of course I didn't do anything he wanted me to do. Well, I did. I gave up caffeine entirely which I feel is a HUGE deal. He thinks it isn't. I don't think King needs caffeine so can't appreciate that sacrifice. (For the record I really like this guy. He is the one who took out Carter tonsils. )

So what he wants me to do is, for the next month eat foods with the consistency of pudding. Can you believe that! He told me this before and I reminded him it was spring and there was too much good stuff in the garden to obey a dumb rule like that. This time he serious about it. And frankly, I am too. My sinuses hurt so much and he feels a lot of the pain I experience is due to referred pain from the TMJ. If I can avoid surgery for my sinuses I will! So I'll do my best to obey Dr. King.

That said, I'm open to recipes.

Holy shit, that stinks!!!! Isn't there some kind of mouth guard you can wear that helps?

I see a lot of soup in your future, which is really not a bad thing. Since it is summer, you can do a lot of chilled things. Let me think about this.

Yes. I'm on to the soup. I'm also seeing filo dough, feta, chopped spinach, dill pie. That is petty soft AND delicious.

What does ENT and TMJ mean? Geez, pudding? It's not catchy, is it? Really, that's terrible.

Ear Nose Throat. TMJ: something that is like: tight jaw muscle. Of course I would have that, of all people. And being doctors it has some other name that corresponds with TMJ, but it basically means tight jaw muscle.

It is related to how much a person talks?
