I ran 10 miles today! I cannot even believe it - That is the longest I've run! Now, let me tell you, it was just as difficult mentally as it was physically. Around 8 miles was when I think I broke. I kept going, but it was really really challenging. My breathing was off, I had a cramp in my shoulder, I had a cramp in my gut. But I finished it! I was really watching my distance at the end. When I saw I was at 10.01, I stopped and I did not run a step more!
I really had to do a lot of walking afterward to cool down. And, I hate to say it, I thought I was going to vomit. I think I was super dehydrated. I stopped half way to get a big drink (Hm....source of the cramp!), but I really should have had water with me. I will next time I do a long run.
Gatorade solved my problem though! After I got home I forced myself to take a shower (forgot to rinse out the conditioner! I figure my hair will be extra soft tomorrow!) and went right to the store and got some. It helped a lot, so that is a tool I will remember to use.
My time was 1:43:28. I was really surprised that my pace per mile was 10:20. I thought it would be a lot slower then that.
So, that is my news!

It is pouring rain here this morning, so no running for me! I saw a quote yesterday:
There is no bad weather, only soft people.
I'm totally ok with the idea that I'm soft!!
I'll do my pushups in a bit though.
Wow! And again I say, WOW! I can't even imagine 10 miles! At the moment I can't imagine 3 miles any more either. Congratulations! You better register for the half marathon with Angie in Duluth!
I tried running up the driveway this morning but could feel it in that foot with every step so came back and got the bike. Went for a 6 mile ride this morning and I could feel that in my legs when I got home. Went around the big block (180th north to 150th east to 160th south to 140th west to 180th and home). Lots of hills on that route! Both up and down! Ha!
So, I guess I will cancel my registration for Saturday's run in Osceola. I won't be able to do it I can tell. Very disappointed but that's the way it is.
Have a good day! I wish we'd get some of that rain! We are soooo dry here. Unreal.
That is SO disappointing! I'm really sorry to hear it. I glad you can bike, but I understand it is frustrating. You're a runner! You want to run! Will you get a refund for the Osceola run? If not, maybe Meg would run it for you.
Thanks! I really want to increase how I'm challenging myself. I'm going to run till I cannot run anymore!
I really wish I could register for the half. I looked into it and, super sadly, it is closed. In fact, it is so popular they have a lottery to get in!
I thought about just doing the marathon, but it seems soooo jerky to run a marathon when Angie is running her first half.
Quite day here. Did my 100 pushups and stayed dry. Back to running tomorrow though!
I thought it was raining at your house today! I must have been looking at the wrong weather!
