Good Morning

Late this morning getting on here because of the Wannigan Days 5K. It went well! About a hundred people. First one so they were a little disorganized. And their route included a long, long downhill into Interstate Park and then a fairly long uphill out of the Park along highway 8. That uphill nearly killed us all! But I made it. My nike+ says my time was 30.05 so I was happy with that. Not sure what the "official" time will be. Not chip timed. There was a thing on the bottom of your bib number that a person pulled off of you when you crossed the finish line. It had a bar code on it so I suppose they scanned that to get your time. Never seen such a system before so don't know how it works. And they announced that they will email official times to us on Monday. It was fun though. Angie came to cheer me on and take some pics so that was great. Also quite a few people I know from the church and community were there so that was nice, too.

Now a day off tomorrow and then I'll attempt a long run (10 miles) on Monday. But it's going to be hot, hot, hot so I don't know that I can do it. Guess I will have to take my phone so I can call for pickup if I need it.

Sounds fun!! Well, the long uphill only sounds sort of fun! Longer than the uphill from out breast cancer run? I can do steep - it's the looooong that scares me! (I first typed scars - it does that emotionally, too!)

That is an interesting system - and one that only works when you have a smaller sized race, I bet. Too many people across the finish at once might ruin that system! Although it may work in a way that is different than I assume.

Ang sent me a text and said it was super fun and that she got a ton of good pics! I can't wait to see them! I think it would be fun to have people I know in the crowd, too.

Good luck on Monday! I suppose you'll have to get up early then! That stinks!

I doubt very much now that Monday is going to happen! It is so hot and humid here it's unbelievable!! Unreal. All our windows were fogged over this morning from humidity! And this is supposed to continue for several days. There's no way I can run 10 miles in this soup. Not sure I can even do 3 or 4.

That hill was about like the Balboa Park one. Glad it was yesterday and not today.

Oh, yeah, that's dangerous running weather! Best to play it safe.

Hills like that are best tackled in the cool weather, for sure!
