Sounds like we both had good runs today! I did. Pretty cloudy out this am. And it was one of those days were getting started was the hardest part. But once I got started, it felt great. Course I spent the entire time thinking about that work thing I emailed you about! SIGH!
Have you thought about what you will eat the morning of the race? Last year I had 300 calories of yogurt and 2 kiwis. Also, several glasses of water and coffee. And I think I'll do that again. The yogurt gave me calories without being super heavy.
I think it is fine to just eat regular leading up to it, too. People have all sorts of rituals around food for these races. Build up your carbs! Taper off your carbs! It all sounds like a lot of work to me!

I have no idea what I'll eat so will look to you girls for advice. Also, how about those energy things? Do you drink those along the way? "Several glasses of water and coffee?" How many times did you stop to pee?
I ran 3 miles on the TM this morning. Coming to the end of my 3 mile runs. 4 miles will be the standard in April. Then longer runs on Saturdays and Mondays. We'll see how it all goes.

I like these honey stingers a lot. They are easy to eat and yummy. I actually had to make my self eat them during the race last year because running that far made me NOT interested in eating!
A lot of runners use this stuff called Gu. Personally, I find it totally disgusting. I don't bother with it because I would have to force myself to eat it! It is gross. From a texture perspective.
Yes, I hit every single beverage station. I tried to have one little cup of Gatorade and one little cup of water at each station. Some people stop when then reach the station and drink. I did not. I just kept running as much as I could. But it is totally important to take their beverages, otherwise you will become really dehydrated. They say a good rule of thumb is that when you can feel salt on your skin, you're dehydrated. That happens to me all the time, actually. Even last Saturday and I brought beverages with me! But it is something to watch for.
I drank coffee because I would have been totally bitter without it! I had read that you should not, because it is a dehydrator, but I just won't start a day without it! But I made sure to drink....oh, maybe 3 glasses of water to get a leg up on hydration.
I only stopped to pee once! I could have stopped more, but I didn't want to wait. I actually stopped at the half marathon starting point. My theory was that there would be a million bathrooms there, just like there was at the full start. And there was! Made it easy!
Goodbye 3 mile runs! Hello 4!
