Stuff and Things

I had an ok run today. Soooo slow. I don't feel like I'm that slow! But, alas, I am. That's the way of it. Oh well. It was a beautiful day to be outside, at any rate. I didn't get the new inserts yet. I have not run hills for a few days and my leg and foot feel fine. Crazy. But I'll get them and see if they help on the hills. I'm tired. I slept well on Friday and Saturday but not last night. Worried about work, I suppose!

I couldn't run this morning. Started but had to quit at 2 minutes. Left heel hurt like hell. VERY unhappy about this. I can only remember one other time when I quit running after I started and that was when I had that plantar faciitis. I just don't know what to do about this. I wear the orthotics, I don't wear them, I do the stretches and exercises, I've rested it, I've not rested it...nothing seems to help. At this point I would say there's less than a 50/50 chance I'll be running the SD Half with you. Did I say I was VERY unhappy about this? Thinking about seeing another podiatrist but I don't know if it would do me any good.

That is really upsetting. I just cannot figure this out. Mostly I cannot figure out why the experts can't figure this out! So it seems like it is directly related to running outside, yeah? Which makes me think it's related to your gait. Didn't Ang go see a "running expert" who helped her with her form? Might that help?

I don't know that I'm running today either. I'm just exhausted. I did sleep last night, though. 7 hours, I guess.

Update....I confess that I did not wear the new orthotics Saturday-Monday at all. I just get so tired of having to move them from one pair of shoes to another and didn't think they were helping me so I didn't wear them. And, of course, I didn't run in them Monday afternoon when I ran outside because I have always continued to run with the old orthotics in my running shoes. So, this morning I was hurting bad as you know.

I did put the new orthotics into my shoes today and....are you ready for this....announcement here....my heel hasn't hurt the rest of the day! An occasional twinge but that's all.

Lesson? WEAR THE ORTHOTICS DUMMY!!

I think now I will try to run in them tomorrow morning and see how that goes. I will just have to get use to moving them I guess.

Well then! You and I have both learned the hard lesson of insoles/orthotics! I'm so glad to hear this news!

I sure hope it keeps feeling excellent. And that you get to test it outside soon.

I did nothing today. Woke up when my alarm went of and just said, "no". I worked from home and I did not run. I'm sad about it....sorta. I needed a break.

You do need a break! And one is coming soon, right? Hope you're meeting with Chuck yesterday went well.

I wore the new orthotics in my running shoes today for the first time. Felt some twinges down in the heel while running but not at all like yesterday so I kept going and got the 3 miles done. It's a little sore there now but, again, not at all like yesterday. So now we'll see what today brings. I will be wearing them all day today.

I wonder if they can make you a duplicate pair so you don't have to keep switching all the time? They're expensive, though, I know!
