I hope you're both sitting down because I wouldn't want you to fall over when you hear this.
I joined the Fitness Center at the Holiday Inn on January 18th and I've been there EVERY SINGLE DAY SINCE!! I'm trying to lose some weight but so far that doesn't seem to be happening. I'm now up to 20 minutes on the treadmill at 3.5 mph and 10 minutes lifting weights. Then I close with 10 minutes on the bicycle or 5 minutes on the ski machine. By then I'm nearly dead.
I have promised myself that I will do this for one month and see what happens. Started January 18 so I will finish the month on my birthday.
I think I have lost 2 pounds but was hoping to drop more than that. Also, I have given up beer during this month but am having a couple glasses of wine per week.
Yes, I'm still eating ice cream. That will be the last thing to go and I'm not ready to give it up yet.
I'm just back from there now and having a rest. And a glass of wine.

Wow! Congratulations! I am very proud of you! It sounds as though you are doing a lot of hard work. Are you working out with anyone or just on your own?
I know the two pound thing is a bummer! But, consider this: "they" say muscle weighs more then fat. You could be losing fat and gaining muscle so even if the scale is not reflecting your loss the fit of your pants may.
And, what fun is life if you cannot enjoy it! eat your ice cream and drink some wine and have a good time! I love you!
I'm doing this on my own but two other pastors in the area are also there several days a week so I see them. One is getting ready to run in Grandma's Marathon and the other is trying to stay fit enough to stay in the Navy Reserves as a Chaplain. Anyway, those are the only folks I see that I know so far.
Mom is telling me about muscle weight, too, but I'm not buying it yet. Still want to drop some pounds. The scale at home and at the Fitness Center are so different that I have no idea what I weigh or what to believe.
I went today just before the super bowl and there was a young kid there who did 40+ minutes at high speed on the ski machine. I mean, high speed! He was just starting when I got there and still doing it when I left. Must be nice to be young!
Ha ha! Nice to be young? I would not know!
Oh Dad, I'm just about to cry. Thank goodness! I'm so happy for you! Congratulations! Sorry about my WAY delayed response, but Ihaven't been here in ages.
Oh I'm so proud and happy. Thank you DAD!
