Geesh, how long has it been since I have said that? I feel like it has been a looong time. But I really did have a great run today and it has made me think of how I'll train for my next marathon.
I was considering going on a longish run today - like 15 miles. But my concern is not at all about my ability to do the distance. It is about my pace. So I decided to sacrifice distance and work on speed. And I've tried that a couple of times recently, with disheartening results. I think I'm going fast, but it isn't really.
So today I went to the gym and ran on the treadmill. Enforced pace! No guess work. And I ran over six miles in under an hour. My average pace was 9:22 (if I remember correctly). And it was great because it was really hard but I kept it up over 6 miles. And that is way faster than I want to run on Saturday. But I'm going to do it again tomorrow. Try to get used to going a little faster.
It was great, mentally, too. It was hard but it made me feel excited again. I guess I've been kind of down on my running because of my pace.
I'm going to incorporate treadmill running into my training from now on. When I was running so fast a few months ago, I was running at the gym maybe once a week. And I think that really helped me have a fast pace outside.
Boy, we are sooo close! Can't wait!

Good morning. I forgot to post yesterday I guess but I did run 4 miles on the TM at the hotel fitness center. Went fine and no aches or pains at all yesterday so I'm very encouraged by that.
6 miles at 9:22? Wow! You are becoming a speed demon!
I will do my last training run tomorrow morning. Planning to do 6 miles so hope the weather cooperates. And that will be it except for our 5K on Thursday morning.
I will leave the motel about 4:40 am on Saturday to get up to the Mall by 5:00. Don't even want to think about that! But I am so nervous about this that I just want it done!
Good luck! Sure hope you have beautiful weather for your run.
Yay to no aches and pains! We're getting there and we will do it!
Yeah, it is early, but it is good to be there and ready. I still have my alarm from last year on my phone and it is set for 3:15! Yikes!
Almost done! I suspect it will be awesome.
