And it was because I accidentally over ran!  I ran 7 miles rather than the 6.3ish.  They were not doing tar work this am but the smell was still around so I made my U on Adams and then wrapped it back around.  TL/DR version: I went to far.  By the time I got back to 36th I was at 6.8 and I figured I might as well round it off.Good run.  Slow.  I don't think my pace will pick up again till I start running hills.  And I worked just hours and hours today, so that didn't happen. I'm starting to come down and feel less stressed from January, I think.I did run this am, but only 3 miles.  They were doing some tar work over in Kensington and I just despise that smell! I had a really neat run yesterday.  I met my coworker (Jonathan - who signed up for the half marathon) over in Coronado and we did a 6 mile run.  Let me tell you, much whining ensued!  But we did it and it was just an absolutely beautiful day.  We met around noon so it was a little bit hotter than I'm used to, especially at the end.But it was fun to have a running partner!  I'm taking today off but I am bringing my running gear to Palm Springs.  I don't know/think that I'll have a chance to run, but it doesn't hurt anything to bring it along just in case the opportunity arises. I couldn't believe it!  But I was able to get out and do it.  Now I'm debating about watching the xfiles. Bart and I went to go see a couple of bands and so I slept in this morning.  As much as I could, anyway.  I actually ran yesterday evening.  Very unusual for me but I was pretty busy and couldn't get going in the am, so evening it was!  My timing turned out to be perfect because I just finished as the light faded.  When it decides to get dark, dang, it decides to get dark!  It was a good run. Absolutely beautiful and blue sky.  I slept until about 7:30 or so and then ran about 6.42 miles.  I can't remember what my watch told me.  But it was enjoyable because it was just so darn nice.I can see the results of more running on the scale. I started working at 6am and got home after 7!  Hurry up, January!  I did run this morning, though.  I didn't leave here until 8:30 ( I think), so I only ran 3 miles and was totally late for work but, man, I needed to get away from my computer.I can see the results of reimplementing my longer runs.  In how I feel, how my clothes fit, and what the scale tells me.  Well, told me today and yesterday.  Hopefully that trend will continue. Dinner then bed so I can toss and turn.  AGAIN! And, wow, it was hard.  I can tell it has been forever.  But the queue was quiet, it wasn't raining, and it was not bitterly cold.  So I did it!  I was so glad.And I did run this morning.  It's funny, I was less interested today than yesterday, but my time was better.  10:14/mile.  I also saw crabby white hair guy.  He was racing me.  Pretty funny - mostly cause I lost!  But I had more miles to go and didn't want to burn myself out on some dude that can't be bothered to wave at me!And I did some ab things and had a healthy eating day. All day.  But it was dry at running time, so I got ready and brought along my rain gear (baggie) and hit the road.  And it only started to sprinkle when I was just two blocks from home.  On the way BACK that is!  I counted myself very lucky.  Especially because it did start raining harder.It was a good run.  About 5.4 miles.  I can't remember exactly.  But good.  And my pace was better than yesterday, so that was happy.I tried the butterfly situps today.  I think I need something under the small of my back because I feel like I'm using it to launch myself up.So I learned something about my scale today.  I need to make sure it is at zero before I get on.  I was absolutely flabbergasted at my weight this morning and actually just thought, "That's totally impossible!  Totally!"  And then I thought to check the starting weight.  It was 4.3!  No thanks. To start, I'll tell you I woke up with my back feeling a lot better.  It is not 100% yet, but it is better.  It's funny, it didn't hurt at all, actually, until I had been up for an hour or so.  Enough whining!  Point is, it feels better!I did run today, and I'm so glad.  I really thought it was going to rain.  Because my weather people told me so!  I hope you are sitting - they were wrong!  It didn't rain at all.  I ran 6.37 (slooooow) miles today.  My longest run in quite some time.  And it was good.  I had a fun time listening to music.Tomorrow I'll do about 5 again.  Actually, I suppose I should go to the gym some time. I am going to get some running mittens (gloves, I suppose) this weekend.It will come as no surprise to you that I weighed MORE today.  Enough said on that topic.I ran 5.46 miles today.  I think it was good, but I was so cold I was not focused!  Actually, I was pretty sure I was getting hypothermia!  Nothing interesting happened on the run today other than the fact that I saw a cop paying someone a visit.  In Kensington, if you can credit it!I did some abs stuff, too.That's all I've got. I ran 5.09 miles.  I did the Kensington loop 3 times and then I ran a bit in my neighborhood to make it over 5 (I was at 4.64 when I got back to 36th).  It was good.  The nano was good. But, man, was it cold out there!  I need some running gloves.  45 when I left this morning.So, I'll do that distance again tomorrow.  I am not going to start getting up at 5. I did not run hills today.  January is a hard month, that's for sure.  I woke up super early this morning so I could play texting with Angie.  And then I headed to the gym.  I ran a mile, did TSWTH, biked for 5 minutes, and then I did the new row machine for 5.  I can tell, too! But I did run this morning, so I got half of my goal completed!Today was an amazingly beautiful day.  It was 50 when I left here to run (and it was supposed to be 77 today!).  I had a very good run.  You inspired me and I did 4 miles.  I added on that one mile Fenton loop.  And my pace was 10:04, which made me happy.Then I did the 10 minutes abs pilates.I had a healthy eating day.  Thank goodness.  And, yep, I've got something to report!  First, I'm feeling a lot better.  I started feeling better before bed last night and awoke with just a tiny noggin ache.  I am blowing my nose constantly!  So I'm on the upswing.  Which I'm very pleased about.  I did run today, too.  Listened to my new Cities Sampler, which I adore.  Best one in a while, I think!  They are always good, but this one is exceptional.  I just ran 3 miles.  Pretty slow, lots of sweat.  But it was good to be back out there.  And I saw a lot of other runners too.  New Years Resolutioners, I think.  Yay them!  I hope they stick with it!Now we're heading out to Alpine soon.  Oh, I weighed myself today.  Not as bad as anticipated!  Whew! I ran about 1.5 miles and then did TSWTH for ten minutes.  Then I did some various weight lifting things.  I did my pecs and I sure can feel it! Long day at work.  But the good news is that I have made some delicious, healthy, and warm-up-able food for the week.  Because I figured it would be madness.I did run today, in between rain.  It wasn't as wet as yesterday and there was a break in the rain so I took the chance that it would last 30 minutes.  And it did!  So I had a good 3 mile run - ten minutes/mile.  The shorter run gave me more time in the AM so I did two parts of the 10 minutes pilates video.  Hips/legs and abs.  That was good, but I'm not in pain. I woke up at 6:30!But I still went for a run, just later than usual.  3 miles, little slower than yesterday but still good.  And it was still cold when I left. I've really think that running so much maybe isn't all that great for me.  I certainly isn't helping with weight!  But I'm also so tired all the time and, frankly, running has become more of a job lately.  And I really do like it, so I don't want to make it a burden.  So 3 miles it is, at least for now.  And maybe I'll slip in one long run per weekend.And my pace was good today.  Ten minute miles across the three miles.  Best in quite some time.  I suppose the longer I run, the more I slow down.Then I went to pilates tonight.  I was glad I committed, or I would not have gone.  It's cold and I'm tired!  But I went and it was good. Baby, it's cold outside!  It was 46 when I left this morning and it took everything I had to go one step, let alone 4 miles.  But 4 miles I did.  Guess what people were doing in San Diego today?  Warming up their cars!  So funny to see cars running here.  I thought you would appreciate that!I'm considering going back to 3 mile runs for a couple of weeks.  I'm really unhappy with my pace, but I am not getting any better and it might be that I just can't work on pace when I'm doing almost 7 miles.  We'll see.Might be a gym day tomorrow, depending on the temperature.I did a good job with snacking during my roadtrip to LA today.  I mapped out the location of a Jamba Juice and stopped there for a beverage before I made the return trip.  Snacking is killing me!I have decided I'm not making Christmas cookies this year. Thursday: Julie Wins</title><content type='html'>Another day successfully completed!  I apparently took myself all kinds of serious about sleeping in.  I didn't wake up until my alarm went off and, even then, I considered snoozing!  And that's after going to bed at 9.  But then I realized that I would really miss my window for the gym so I got up.And I went to the gym.  I did something different for my weights today.  There is an "assisted dip (like I need help!) and chin-up" machine.  The weight helps me be able to actually complete one!  So I did those and I can really feel it in my arms.Then I went to the group pilates class tonight (as you know) and it was very fun.  Allison was the teach tonight and I have not seen her in months!  Now I am going to watch at least one of those X-Files episodes and tomorrow I will sleep in!  I think that changing my schedule will help me.  I've been really tired.  Because I go to bed at 10 or 11 (usually - sometimes I have a breakdown and go at 9!) and then get up at 5.  I think I just need to catch up.  And I have read before that enough sleep helps with weight. Actually, I am tired all the time.  I would blame getting old but, heck, I'm not old!!  I am work stressed, though, and I think that's my problem.  Anyway, I have been meaning to tell you that I'm trying a new morning thing.  I am actually going to start letting myself sleep till 6 am.  I've really been struggling with the 5 am thing and now it is dark and cold.  So I'm letting myself sleep a bit more and just drinking less coffee (I know!  Who am I??), and still getting out the door between 6:30 and 6:45.  So I'll give it a try.This morning I had a really good run.  Frustrating because I thought my time would be better but, nope, it wasn't.  I was surprised!  But if I'm feeling stronger, that's a good thing.I ran hills at lunch!  I'm so glad I got out.  That really is not part of my routine anymore and I really miss it.  Anyway, I ran hills while listening to Christmas music!  It was fun.Tomorrow I'll probably go to the gym because we are going to be having "unsettling" weather (that was our actual alert from Weather.com!).  It is supposed to be VERY windy.Oh, PS, I guess I did not eat too much dinner last night!  Will I ever weigh 125? Again.  More of the same!  I'm ready to get company so I can have a running partner.  Hint!  Hint!It was much less dry today.  Still dry, but a lot more comfortable.  Made the run more enjoyable.  I did the usual Kensington route today.  Nobody was out and about!  No abs or anything after.  I had a really great dinner tonight of this pork roast I got at the farmer's market.  Curtis said it had been eating acorns.  And it was great.  I roasted it really low in the oven (325). I can't believe it.  Although I should believe it because it was hard work.  We went over to Coronado and had to get way in the water.  Like up to my thighs into the water.  My armpits were in the water sometimes!  If I don't get sick from this outing, science better study me!  You know how cold our ocean is.  We were in the water for 2 hours today!  There were five of us and we had a limit of 10 clams/person.  We ended up with 39.  Now, I'm not a quitter.  But there came a time when I was just done.  I caught 8 though!  Not going to lie, I was darn proud of myself!  Anyway, that counts as 50 miles in my book!  OK, maybe 30......I did run this morning.  Despite the cold!  I did 6.45 miles.  Was considering 7 but I was ready to be finished by the time I got back to my neck of the woods.Now, will I be able to run tomorrow? I was so tired.  And I slept till 5:30.  Well, I slept till 5.  I pushed snooze till 5:30.  When I ran this am, I thought I would just do 3 miles.  Because I was sore.  But then I got out there and it was sooo beautiful and enjoyable, I did the usual.And I ran hills at lunch.  Great to get out.  If I am doing the SF marathon, I better get some hill work going!Tonight I had dinner with my pal Ellen.  It was fun! She said it would be harder than the other one and she was not joking!I did go to the gym this morning and took it sort of easy.  I biked for 15 and then did TSWTH for 15.  Then I saw they were having a Killer Kore Klass(kute, huh?  man, I hate that!), so I joined in.  It was only 25 minutes.  Just mat work.  Pretty good.Now I'm home, sitting on my couch. Wait?  Didn't I say that on Saturday?  Well, I mean this one was HARDER!  For real, they do tough classes.  They have it set up so it is a full body workout.  Class is 40 minutes, it is very fast paced.I ran this morning, too.  It sure was hard to go outside because it was a little chilly (for me!).  But I warmed right up and it was enjoyable.  Did 6.48 today.  About 10:23 pace, I think, so that's OK I guess. It was for 5 sessions.  And I went to my first session today.  And it broke me.  Broke.  As you know, Shauna has me do some very hard things, but this was hard and fast paced.We used the reformer machine.  Oh, it was a group class.  It looks like they have 8 pieces of equipment.  Or 10 maybe.  But it wasn't full.  More than half, though.  Anyway, it was like circuit training.  Just very fast paced.  And I was sweating like crazy.  And I had to take breaks! It actually works!  I got an email from the Garmin support peeps this am and they told me to update my software and pull the battery out for a few minutes.  Did this and successfully linked to my watch.  Pretty exciting. So I know for a fact that I ran 2+ miles today.  I went to the gym this morning and ran for 20 minutes and then did TSWTH for 10 minutes.  Then I did the usual weights.  And it was really hard!  For some reason, my muscles were very tired.  I had a difficult time finishing my sets.Dinner out tonight, but it was somewhat healthy. Oh, man, I almost quit at what would have been a 5K.  Stupid skunks!  It smelled so bad and so strongly.  I just decided, "What the heck, I'll try one more." and the aroma had dissipated. Not sure why.  Maybe feeling a little down.  For sure feeling a lot work stressed.  Anyway, I took today off.  And I first woke up at 5:30 and was for real awake.  Wide awake.  And thinking of work emails I could "just send quick".  So I made myself stay in bed and I slept till about 7:30 or 8!  Good start!  And I didn't send a single one of those "really quick" emails!  And I did run today.  Had a really relaxing morning, actually.  But did run my normal 6.45 mile route.Then I cleaned up and did laundry.  And then I ran errands.  Got a fun little gift and card for Amy and went to Costco to get napkins, TP, kleenex, and such.  Bring on the end of the world! I really had a tough start to the week though!Today I went to the gym.  It was planned because I knew it was going to rain.  I didn't know it was going to be 17 degrees, though!  My foot pod did not connect AGAIN.  I need to email them because I made a 30 day goal of 250 miles, so every mile counts!  Today I ran a mile (I was too irritated to go further!), then I did TSWTH for 10 minutes, then I did a bike for 10 minutes.  And then I did weights.  And that's it!Rained all day today and it is still raining now! He accidentally looked at me but, accident or no, that was not an opportunity I was going to miss!I had a solid day of healthy eating here too. I have a hard time on the weekend, it seems.  Because I can be lazy about sleeping in and then I get more comfortable with my sitting around drinking coffee.  By they time I hit the road, I'm hungry!But I went the usual route and it was pretty fun.  Everyone is really getting ready for Halloween now and people were busy with the finishing touches.  I think I'll head over there Monday night and check it out in the dark. Well, I feel like I did a lot today.I went to they gym this morning and did my usual weights there.  I also ran for 20 minutes on the treadmill and I did TSWTH for 10.  I want to get to work on my pace again, and the treadmill helps.  Then I ran hills today at lunch.  Yep, getting back on track. Why?  Because I wore heels yesterday.  OUCH.  I am so not used to wearing them anymore and boy did they cause problems. But I ran through it and I'm happy to say that I feel just fine tonight.  I had a good run, but I'm really slowing down.  I need some company to get my pace on track again!  It was a beautiful day to be out and about.  Cool.  And it's fun because everyone has their Halloween gear out.  It's so spooky!  I was going to run hills at lunch, but I forgot my shoes!  So sad!You know, maybe I need a goal to get on track for the rest of the year. Today I realized it felt so epically long because I worked all day on Saturday!  Today was a running day - a slooooow running day.  I broke no records, but I did it.I'm going to have to go to the doctor because my ankle and foot are hurting so much.  Just aching.  So I'll go have an xray done and see what up.  I'll make the appointment tomorrow.And that's it.
